‘Marty Supreme’ is a masterpiece you’ll never want to watch again - Detroit Metro Times

For movie enthusiasts who crave something more than just a feel-good experience, Josh and Benny Safdie's latest magnum opus, "Marty Supreme," is an unapologetically intense film that will leave viewers questioning their own moral compass. Starring Timothée Chalamet as the deeply unpleasant table tennis prodigy Marty Mauser, this movie is an exhausting yet exhilarating journey into the heart of darkness.

With its gritty, 1950s vision, "Marty Supreme" masterfully captures the highs and lows of a life, not just through grand gestures but also through the emotional undercurrents that make Marty's relentless pursuit of ping pong dominance both captivating and repulsive. Chalamet's performance is nothing short of remarkable, embodying the character's depthless narcissism and quotidian restlessness with unwavering conviction.

Josh Safdie's assured filmmaking skill is on full display as he expertly navigates the complexities of Marty's self-mythologizing, leaving audiences both exhausted and exhilarated. The film dares to ask directly: "What is it that you want, and what will you do to get it?" – a question that resonates long after the credits roll.

"Marty Supreme" is not for those seeking a lighthearted or uplifting cinematic experience. Instead, it's a movie that challenges viewers to confront their own self-mythologizing and moral assumptions. This is a film that demands attention, will leave you questioning your values, and may even inspire you to reevaluate what you want out of life.

With its technical brilliance, gritty realism, and Chalamet's tour-de-force performance, "Marty Supreme" is an unmissable work of art that will linger in the minds of cinephiles for years to come.

I'm gonna say this movie sounds super intense 🤯! I mean, a film about ping pong prodigy who's kinda a narcissist? That sounds like a wild ride. But is Timothée Chalamet really just playing a "deeply unpleasant" person? Is that even possible? 🤔 I need more info on this character to get on board with the whole Marty Mauser vibe. The movie's gritty 1950s vision and emotional undercurrents sound super compelling, but can it handle being super exhausting for viewers too? Maybe this one's not my cup of tea, but if you're in the mood for something that'll really make you question your values 🤔, then "Marty Supreme" might be worth a watch.

just saw this movie and I'm still reeling lol it's like they took all my darkest thoughts about competitive sports and put them on screen - Marty Mauser is just so... exhausting to watch but at the same time, super captivating? 🤯 i mean, Timothée Chalamet is insane in this role, like he's not even playing a person, he's playing an idea of what it means to be obsessed with something 💥 anyway, i loved how the film doesn't shy away from getting all up in your grill about the darker aspects of human nature 🤔

I'm totally stoked about this new movie "Marty Supreme" 🤯. It sounds like it's gonna be a real mind-bender, you know? I mean, who doesn't love a good underdog story about ping pong? 😂 But seriously, the fact that it's an intense, gritty film that'll make you question your own morals is kinda refreshing in this day and age. Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser sounds like a real wild card - I'm intrigued to see how he pulls off that character. The Safdie brothers are known for their bold direction, so I trust they've got this one covered. Can't wait to dive into "Marty Supreme" and see what all the fuss is about! 🎥

🤯 just watched "Marty Supreme" and I'm still reeling from it... the guy who plays Marty Mauser (Timothée Chalamet) is INSANE, like he's tapping into some dark energy that's both captivating and terrifying at the same time 🤪. the film's portrayal of ping pong as a metaphor for life is so profound, you can't help but think about how much pressure we put on ourselves to achieve our goals 🏸. josh safdie's direction is masterful, it's like he's holding up a mirror to our own narcissism and moral compromises 🕰️. this movie is NOT an easy watch, but if you're feeling up for the challenge, it might just be the most thought-provoking film of the year 🎥

OMG I just watched this movie 🤯 and I'm still reeling from it!!! 🤯 I loved how gritty and realistic it was, but also kinda felt like I needed a shower afterwards 😂🚿 because Marty is seriously unsettling. But at the same time, Chalamet's performance was insane - I'm not even kidding when I say it gave me chills every time he was on screen 😱👻. The question "what do you want and what will you do to get it?" really stuck with me too... it made me think about my own motivations and goals, and I guess that's the real magic of this movie 💡. If anyone else has seen it, what did you guys think?! 🤔

Ugh, I'm both hyped and terrified to see Timothée Chalamet take on another dark role 😅. The Safdie brothers are like masters at crafting these intense, thought-provoking films that make me wanna dive headfirst into the cinematic deep end 🤯. But what really gets me is how this movie's 1950s setting feels so...of its time 🕰️. It's like they're taking all these raw emotions and tossing them in a blender, hitting puree 🍹. And that ping pong? Forget about it, it's like Marty's entire existence revolves around it 🏓👊. I'm not sure if I want to see this or just curl up with a good ol' fashioned rom-com 😴. Guess only time (and my inner critic) will tell 👀

I just got back from the most amazing hiking trip over the weekend 🏞️👣! The views were insane and I felt so connected to nature, you know? Like, I was walking along this one trail and the trees just seemed to be staring at me, and I swear I saw a deer out of the corner of my eye... maybe it was just a squirrel 😂. Anyway, speaking of intense experiences, have you guys seen "The Shawshank Redemption"? That movie is like, so powerful on the emotional level... what do you think makes it so enduringly popular?
