I THINK IT'S AMAZING THAT MARY EAPRS IS TAKING CONTROL OF HER OWN LIFE AND DECISIONS!!! SHE DESERVES SO MUCH CREDIT FOR BEING BRAVE ENOUGH TO SAY NO TO THE PRESSURE AND PUSH BACK AGAINST THOSE WHO WERE TRYING TO FORCE HER INTO CONTINUING TO PLAY WHEN SHE WASN'T READY . IT'S ALSO SO IMPORTANT THAT WE'RE HAVING THESE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH, BODY IMAGE, AND PERFORMANCE PRESSURE IN SPORTS!!! IT'S TIME FOR US TO START SUPPORTING EACH OTHER AND NOT JUST THE WINNERS .
Retirement is just an excuse for people to avoid doing what they actually don't want to do anymore... like playing soccer all those years. I mean, Sarina Wurst basically told her to keep going even though she didn't feel up to it - that's just gonna lead to burnout and injuries. And now Mary Earps is gonna be out of the sport because of it... good for her, but what about all the other players who have no one looking out for them? I'm not surprised she had mental health issues, though - professional sports are tough enough without all the drama and pressure. I guess you could say she's finally taking care of herself, but what a waste of talent, if you ask me
