Meta signs three nuclear power deals to help support its AI data centers

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has inked three nuclear power deals with TerraPower, Oklo, and Vistra to fuel its growing artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. The agreements aim to provide clean energy for Meta's Prometheus AI data center in Ohio, which is expected to come online this year.

The deals will generate up to 6.6 gigawatts of new and existing clean energy by 2035, according to Meta. The company has partnered with TerraPower to secure funding for the development of two new Natrium units capable of producing 690 megawatts of power. Additionally, Meta will buy over 2.1 gigawatts of energy from Vistra's nuclear power plants in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Oklo's deal with Meta is aimed at supporting the development of a 1.2-gigawatt power campus in Ohio, which will help fuel the company's growing data centers in the region. The agreements are part of Meta's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and transition to cleaner energy sources.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed, but they represent a significant investment by Meta in nuclear power as a clean energy source for its AI operations.

I THINK IT'S AMAZING THAT META IS MOVING TOWARDS CLEANER ENERGY SOURCES LIKE NUCLEAR POWER TO FUEL ITS AI DATA CENTERS ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿค–. I MEAN, WE'RE STILL IN 2025 AND ALREADY THE BIG TECH COMPANIES ARE THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE OF OUR PLANET. IT'S KIND OF INSPIRING TO SEE THEM PUTTING MONEY INTO CLEAN ENERGY PROJECTS THAT WILL HELP REDUCE CARBON FOOTPRINT IN THE LONG RUN.

AS FOR OKLO, TERRAPOWER, AND VISTRA, I GUESS THEY'RE ALL GOOD FOR A CHANGE FROM THE USUAL FOCUS ON SOLAR AND WIND POWER. NUCLEAR POWER HAS ITS OWN PROS AND CONS, BUT IT'S GREAT THAT META IS WILLING TO INVEST IN IT AS A CLEAN ENERGY SOURCE.

WHEN WE GET TO SEE THESE PLANTS UP AND RUNNING, I HOPE THEY'LL REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LONG RUN.

OMG, I'm literally so stoked that Meta is investing in nuclear power ๐ŸŒŸ! As you guys know, our school has been trying to reduce its carbon footprint and go more eco-friendly, so it's awesome to see a big corporation like Meta taking steps towards cleaner energy too ๐Ÿ’š. It makes total sense that they'd want to fuel their AI data centers with sustainable energy - think about all the servers running 24/7 in those data centers! ๐Ÿคฏ I just wish we could learn more about how this nuclear power deal is going to work and what kind of impact it'll have on the environment ๐ŸŒฟ. But hey, at least Meta's moving in the right direction ๐Ÿ‘!

Just saw this news about Meta's nuclear power deals ๐Ÿค”...I'm kinda surprised they're going down this path, but I guess you can't deny the power (pun intended ๐Ÿ˜‚) of clean energy! 6.6 gigawatts of new and existing clean energy by 2035? That's a big step forward for the company's carbon footprint reduction goals. But have you thought about the safety concerns around nuclear power? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's definitely not something you can just switch on like a light bulb ๐Ÿ’ก. I'd love to see more transparency about the financial terms of these deals too...aren't they keeping that under wraps? ๐Ÿค‘

Ugh, great, just what we need more nukes ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ฃ... I mean, I guess it's good that they're trying to reduce their carbon footprint and all, but have you thought about the safety record of these nuclear power plants? Like, what if something goes wrong and they accidentally release some radioactive crap into the air? ๐Ÿคฏ And don't even get me started on the waste disposal - it's like, how are they gonna deal with all that toxic stuff after the reactors shut down? ๐Ÿšฎ It's just so... so... predictable.

I donโ€™t usually comment on these big tech deals ๐Ÿค”, but I think itโ€™s kinda awesome that Meta is investing in nuclear power to fuel its AI growth ๐Ÿš€. Clean energy is the way forward, you know? And 6.6 gigawatts of new and existing clean energy by 2035 is a pretty impressive goal โฐ. I mean, we need to reduce our carbon footprint ASAP, so itโ€™s great that Meta is taking steps in this direction ๐ŸŒŽ.

But, like, what's the future of nuclear power? Is it going to be a game-changer for renewable energy or just another option? ๐Ÿ˜• Still, I'm all for exploring new ways to reduce emissions and create sustainable tech solutions ๐Ÿ’ก. Fingers crossed these deals lead to some innovative stuff ๐Ÿคž!

๐Ÿค‘ I got a feelin' this nuclear thingy is gonna be BIG for Meta's AI game ๐Ÿค–. They're talkin' 6.6 gigawatts of new clean energy by 2035? That's like, a whole lotta green ๐Ÿ’š. And it makes sense too, AI is eatin' up all our power nowadays, so they gotta have a reliable source. I heard the Prometheus data center in Ohio is gonna be a game-changer ๐ŸŒ. TerraPower, Oklo, and Vistra are all big players in this space, so Meta's got some solid partnerships goin' on here ๐Ÿ’ฏ. Can't wait to see how it all unfolds! ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Ugh, great, just what we need more nuke plants spewing radiation everywhere ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's good that Meta is trying to go green and all, but nuclear power isn't exactly the most reliable or safe option in my book. What if one of these 'clean energy' deals goes belly up? Who gets hurt then? ๐Ÿค” And what about all the toxic waste they'll be generating? It's not like it's a silver bullet solution to our energy problems...

๐Ÿค” so meta is finally trying to clean up its act and go green ๐ŸŒฟ it's like they're trying to make up for all the drama on facebook with some actual positive change ๐Ÿ™ these deals are a good start, but we need to see more commitment from them to reduce their carbon footprint ๐Ÿ’š 6.6 gigawatts is a decent amount of clean energy, but it's not enough to offset all the harm they've caused in the past ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ fingers crossed that this is just the beginning and meta becomes a leader in sustainable energy ๐ŸŒŸ

๐ŸŒŸ This is like, totally awesome news! I mean, who wouldn't want clean energy powering their data centers? ๐Ÿคฉ It's like Meta is saying, "Hey, we're committed to being sustainable and all that jazz." And with these deals, they're basically creating a new industry for themselves. Nuclear power as a clean energy source? That's some forward-thinking stuff right there! ๐Ÿ’ก I'm also loving the fact that this means more jobs will be created in Ohio - it's like a win-win-win situation! ๐ŸŒˆ The carbon footprint reduction is just the cherry on top, you know? ๐Ÿ‘

I'm just worried about these new nuclear power deals ๐Ÿค”... I mean, I know we're trying to reduce our carbon footprint and all that, but nuclear power can be pretty scary stuff, right? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I've heard it's got some serious safety concerns and whatnot. And don't even get me started on the waste disposal โ€“ it sounds like a real mess ๐Ÿšฎ

I guess what I'm saying is, I just want to make sure that these new power plants are gonna be safe and all that before we start investing big time in 'em ๐Ÿ’ธ... Can't we just stick with solar or wind energy for now? ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

omg i'm so stoked about this!!! meta is like, totally committed to making their ai data centers sustainable and i love it!! 6.6 gigawatts of new clean energy by 2035? that's huge! i've been following terra power and oklo for ages, they're both innovators in the nuclear space and it's so cool to see meta partnering with them ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ’š the fact that these deals are helping reduce carbon footprint is just amazing ๐ŸŒŽ i'm all about supporting companies that prioritize the planet, meta is definitely one of them ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I'm so glad to see big tech companies like Meta taking steps towards sustainability ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š They're really leading the way on this clean energy stuff and it's awesome. I mean, who doesn't want to reduce their carbon footprint, right? But seriously, nuclear power is a game changer for large corporations with massive energy needs. It's not just about saving the planet, but also about making business sense ๐Ÿค‘ I'm hoping more companies will follow Meta's lead and invest in clean energy sources. We need to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels ASAP โฐ

I'm kinda surprised by this news, tbh ๐Ÿค”. I mean, nuclear power is still a pretty big deal and people's concerns about it are valid, but I guess when you're talking about powering massive AI data centers, you gotta think outside the box ๐ŸŒ. Plus, Meta's all about being eco-friendly now, so this makes sense from a PR standpoint ๐Ÿ’ก.

But what really gets me is how fast the tech industry is moving and we're still debating whether nukes are clean or not ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. Like, shouldn't we be focusing on sustainable energy sources by now? ๐ŸŒฑ On the other hand, if nuclear power can help reduce carbon emissions, that's a win-win in my book ๐ŸŽ‰.

I'm curious to see how this all plays out and what kinda impact it'll have on the environmental conversation ๐Ÿค.

omg I cant even handle how awesome this is ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’š Meta is literally saving the planet one nuke at a time ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’ซ their commitment to clean energy is everything and more ๐Ÿ’ฏ I mean who else is gonna fuel their AI empire with actual good vibes ๐Ÿ’– cant wait for Prometheus to come online this year ๐ŸŽ‰ and see those 6.6 gigawatts of new energy being generated ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ‘

omg u guys r goin 2 be so happy 2 no that meta is gettin all green wif its new nuke deals lol! idk if its cool or not 2 b relyin on nukes 4 ur energy but hey at least its cleaner dan coal or somethin ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š. the thing is, dont 4get that these deals r stil a big investment 4 meta...i mean, they gotta pay 4 all this nuke power ๐Ÿ’ธ. but hey, at lea$t we wont hav 2 worry bout meta burnin out our planet ๐Ÿ˜‚. and btw, its pretty cool 2 c them makin moves 2 reduce their carbon footprint ๐ŸŒŸ

I'm literally shook rn ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, 6.6 gigawatts of new and existing clean energy? That's like, whoa! ๐ŸŒž It's about time big corps like Meta started taking responsibility for their carbon footprint and actually doing something about it. And nuclear power? Game changer ๐Ÿ’ก I've always thought of it as this super scary thing, but I guess when you put it into perspective, it's actually pretty cool. Like, these Natrium units are capable of producing 690 megawatts of power?! That's like, a whole city's worth of clean energy ๐ŸŒ† And for AI data centers? It just makes sense. We need to be powering our tech with sustainable energy or we're gonna be stuck in the dark ages, pollution-wise ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I'm so stoked Meta is taking the lead on this and setting an example for everyone else to follow ๐Ÿ‘

Ugh ๐Ÿค”, this just gets crazier. So now our data centers are gonna be powered by nuclear? Like, isn't that like, super expensive and not exactly the most sustainable thing? ๐Ÿค‘ And what about all those radioactive waste issues? Don't they have to deal with that somehow? ๐Ÿ’€

And 6.6 gigawatts of new clean energy? That's still a lot of carbon emissions in my book. I mean, we're already at crisis levels of climate change and now we're just shuffling our dirty energy around? ๐ŸŒŽ It sounds like just another way to greenwash their image before the next quarter ends.

Also, what's up with Meta investing all this cash into nuclear power when they could just invest in some fancy new solar panels or wind turbines instead? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

this is crazy, right? ๐Ÿคฏ meta's goin all out on ai and they're investin big time in nuclear power to keep it powered... 6.6 gigawatts is wild, that's like, a whole town's worth of electricity ๐Ÿ˜ฑ and the cool part is, it's supposed to be super clean energy now... still got to wonder about the safety aspect tho ๐Ÿค” but i guess it's progress, right? we're gettin closer to makin our tech stuff less bad for the planet ๐ŸŒŽ
