Metroid Prime 4: Beyond review – Samus Aran is suited up for action again. Was it worth the 18-year wait?

A New Beginning for a Beloved Franchise: Metroid Prime 4 Review

The wait is finally over, and Samus Aran is back in action. It's been 18 long years since the last installment of the beloved Metroid Prime series, but Nintendo's latest attempt to revive the franchise is sure to delight fans and newcomers alike.

From the moment I stepped into the frozen laboratory, I knew that I was in for a classic Metroid experience. The atmospheric soundtrack set the tone for a journey filled with danger, mystery, and exploration. As I navigated through the icy terrain, my trusty visor scanning the environment for hidden secrets, I felt like I was exactly where Samus belonged - on a mission to uncover the truth.

The addition of new psychic powers to Samus's arsenal is a welcome change of pace, amplifying her abilities and allowing her to tackle challenges in ways that were previously impossible. The intuitive controls, which include options for using the Switch 2 remote or a mouse, make navigation and combat feel smooth and responsive.

The game's visuals are a testament to the Giger-esque design aesthetic that fans of the series have come to expect from Metroid Prime. From the sprawling desert landscapes to the eerie, abandoned facilities, every environment is meticulously crafted to evoke a sense of unease and uncertainty.

However, not everything in Metroid Prime 4 is met with enthusiasm. The introduction of a companion AI, Myles MacKenzie, feels like a misguided attempt to alleviate player confusion. While his quips are initially amusing, they quickly become grating and intrusive, interrupting the flow of exploration and combat. His presence also raises questions about how much of the game is designed to guide the player, rather than trusting them to figure things out on their own.

The autosaving system is another area where the game falls short. The spotty saving intervals can lead to frustrating restarts, particularly when navigating treacherous terrain or facing off against challenging enemies.

Despite these missteps, Metroid Prime 4 feels like an experimental game from a bygone era. Its slow pace and methodical approach to exploration may feel antiquated to modern gamers, but there's something comforting about it - a sense of timelessness that draws you back in.

In short, Metroid Prime 4 is not a revival of the series; rather, it's a reunion tour for those who have been patiently waiting. The classic elements are still present and accounted for, and while some new material may not hit the mark, the overall experience remains satisfying.

As Samus Aran sets foot on this distant planet once more, fans can rest assured that they're in good hands. With its lovingly crafted environments, intuitive controls, and a healthy dose of classic Metroid charm, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an unforgettable adventure that will keep you engaged for hours on end.

🚀 "The only way to do great work is to love what you do." You know, people's expectations can be super high after 18 years, but the game deliver's in its own way 🤯 Metroid Prime 4 might not innovate much but it's solidifying the classic formula that made us fall in love with Samus Aran all those years ago 💥

🤔 I've been playing this new Metroid game for a bit and it's got me thinking... the new powers are kinda cool but also feel a bit overpowered? Like, can't we just have Samus being super skilled instead of having these fancy psychic abilities? 🙄 Also, the autosave system is so annoying! I'm always stuck loading a level because my power was interrupted. 😡 And what's up with the new AI sidekick? It feels like it's trying too hard to be helpful and ends up being more frustrating than anything else. 🤖 But hey, at least the game still has that Metroid vibe going on and the atmosphere is super immersive. 👍

I'm not sure I agree with this review... 🤔. The whole thing feels like a love letter to the series without any real critique of what's wrong with it. What's up with the lack of transparency about how much of the game is AI-guided? Shouldn't we know if our actions are being directly influenced or not? And those autosave intervals, 5 minutes is way too long, right? 🙄

I gotta say, Nintendo's finally got their Metroid Prime game out the door after 18 long years... about time 🕰️! The atmosphere and soundtrack are straight fire, takes me back to my childhood gaming days playing the original Prime on the Gamecube.

The new psychic powers are a welcome change of pace, love how Samus can now tackle challenges in different ways. The controls are smooth as silk, Switch 2 remote or mouse either way is a breeze 🎮

Visually, it's like stepping into a Giger-esque nightmare... in the best possible way 😱! Every environment is meticulously crafted to make you feel uneasy and on edge.

But, come on Nintendo... what's up with the companion AI? It's like they're trying too hard to help the player out. Trust Samus, she knows what she's doing 🙄

And autosaving? More like auto-frustration 😩. The spotty saving intervals can be super annoying, especially when you're navigating tight spaces or fighting tough enemies.

Still, it's not all bad. There's something comforting about the slow pace and methodical exploration that just feels... right. Like a warm hug from an old friend 🤗

All in all, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a solid addition to the series. Not perfect, but hey, it's better than nothing 😊

🌫️ I'm really glad Nintendo decided to revisit the Metroid Prime series, it's been way too long since we've had a new installment 🕰️. The atmosphere and soundtrack in this game are top-notch, it really sets the tone for an immersive experience. I love how they've added some new psychic powers to Samus's arsenal, it's a nice change of pace from the traditional power-ups we're used to 💡.

However, I'm not totally sold on the companion AI, Myles MacKenzie 🤖. He feels like he's trying too hard to help out and ends up being a bit of a nuisance. And the autosaving system can be pretty frustrating at times ⏰. But overall, this game has that classic Metroid feel that I've been missing for so long 👍.

One thing that did bug me is how some of the new elements, like the psychic powers, felt like they were added as an afterthought 🤔. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make you wonder if Nintendo could have done more with these abilities. Still, I'm happy to see Samus back in action and exploring new worlds 🚀.

😊 Metroid Prime 4 feels like a love letter to the series, bringing back all the things we loved about the originals 🙌. But, just like with any good relationship, it's not all sunshine and rainbows 💡. I mean, who thought autosaving every five seconds was a good idea? 🤦‍♂️ It breaks the immersion, you know? And Myles MacKenzie... *sigh* 😒. I get what they were trying to do, but it just feels like Nintendo's trying too hard to make the game more accessible. Newsflash: Metroid Prime fans don't need their hands held through every single step! 🙅‍♂️ Still, despite its flaws, this game is a masterclass in atmosphere and exploration 🌆. It's like stepping into a sci-fi horror movie from the 80s 🎥, minus the dated tech (mostly).

I'm kinda feeling like we've lost our way in the digital age 🤔... all this talk about innovation and progress, but what's the point if it doesn't feel nostalgic? I mean, Metroid Prime 4 is a love letter to the past, and while it's awesome to see some classic elements come back, we're also seeing how much has changed since then 😊. It's like our expectations have shifted to expect instant gratification, whereas these older games are all about slowing down and savoring the experience 🎮. The more I think about it, the more I realize that maybe the real 'new beginning' is just finding a balance between old-school charm and modern sensibilities 💡... what do you guys think?

im so hyped about metroid prime 4! the new psychic powers r so sick 🤯 and the atmosphere in the game is literally giving me life ❤️. i loved the old metroid prime games growing up, but this one feels like a love letter to the series - it's got all the classic elements that make metroid so iconic.

the only thing thats kinda annoying me is how much myles macenko is interrupting samus' vibes 🤦‍♂️. i mean, i get it, he's supposed to be helpful and stuff, but can't they just let samus do her own thang for once?

anywayz, the autosaving system is a bit wonky, but overall, this game feels like a breath of fresh air after all these years 🌬️. if you're a fan of metroid or just looking for a challenge, i'd def recommend checking it out 👍

omg what's up with the new companion AI guy? 🤖 i mean i get it nintendo wanted to make things easier for players but like myles mackenzie is so annoying 😒 he just interrupts samus's flow and stuff i'm good without him lol also can we talk about the autosaving system tho? 🙄 it feels like they're trying to help us out too much, you know? samus should be able to handle herself without having to wait for a save point every 5 seconds 👀 what do u think about metroid prime 4 overall tho? is it worth playing? 🤔

omg i just got my new switch 2 📦 and it's like whoa!!! i was playing metroid prime 4 with my friends online and the graphics are insane 😲 samus aran looks so cool in her power suits... i also love how i can explore the whole planet without any pressure to complete stuff right away 🌄 its like, chill vibes only 🎮

idk why ppl r saying it's not that bad? the game feels like it's stuck in the past and thats kinda cool tbh 🤔 i mean who needs autosave when u can just remember where u saved lol? and yeah, myles mackenzie is a total buzzkill 😴 can't stand how he interrupts samus's vibes. but overall its still metroid prime 4 and its got that classic feel goin on 👍
