Miami’s Mark Fletcher throws punch in heated moment after CFP National Championship loss

Heated Brawl Erupts After Miami's National Championship Loss

A tense confrontation between Miami running back Mark Fletcher and an Indiana defender ended with Fletcher throwing punches on the field at Hard Rock Stadium, marking a dramatic finish to Monday's CFP National Championship.

The 21-year-old Fletcher had a standout performance in the loss, rushing for 112 yards and scoring two touchdowns. He also added one reception for eight yards, bringing his total yardage to 507 over the four-game playoff run.

Fletcher made history by passing Ezekiel Elliott as the player with the most career rushing yards in College Football Playoff history with a 57-yard score in the third quarter. However, it wasn't enough to secure victory for the Hurricanes, who fell to Indiana 27-21.

The exact cause of the altercation between Fletcher and the Hoosiers' Tyrique Tucker remains unclear, but witnesses reported that Fletcher appeared set to chase down the defensive back before a staffer intervened to calm him down.

😒 This whole thing is wild, I'm still trying to process it... Like, Mark Fletcher had an incredible game, no doubt about it 🤩 - 112 yards and two touchdowns? That's insane! But then he just loses his cool on the field? 💥 I get that emotions run high after a tough loss, but throwing punches at someone? That's not okay 😕. And now we're all trying to figure out what happened before the altercation... was it really as sudden as the staff said? 🤔 It's weird how these things always seem to get more complicated than they need to be 💁‍♀️. Still, I feel for Mark - he had an amazing season and deserved better than this 😞.

man thats crazy what happened on the field 🤯 i feel bad for mark fletcher he had an amazing game and was so close to winning it all still gotta give credit to indiana though they played a great game, but it's not cool that things got physical between fletcher and tyrique tucker hopefully they can resolve their differences outside of football 🙏

OMG what's up with this guy ?? 🤯 He had an amazing game and then just loses it on the field?! Threw punches at some dude, fam... I get that he was upset but like, you're a millionaire athlete, you can't just lose your cool like that. And to make matters worse, it's gonna give him a bad rep and people are gonna be talking about this for years 🙄. The staffer did a good job intervening, though. Still can't believe the Hurricanes lost 😔.

🤔 I'm not buying into all this hype around Mark Fletcher's performance in the CFP National Championship. 112 yards and two touchdowns? That's just a normal day at the office for most running backs, if you ask me 😏. And let's be real, he got held accountable for his emotions on that field 🤦‍♂️. I'm not saying he wasn't justified in getting upset, but calm down with the punches, Mark! 🥊 It's just a game, kid! The fact that he made history by passing Ezekiel Elliott in career rushing yards is cool and all, but let's not forget it's just a stat 📊. Can we really put so much pressure on one player to perform? 😅

🤯 what's going on with those college football players?! I mean, I'm happy for Mark Fletcher for breaking that record and all, but gotta be careful out there 🙏. Those players are so big and physical, it's like a different sport altogether 💪. Can't help but feel bad for the staffer who had to intervene, though - those guys are just trying to do their job 🤷‍♂️.

And seriously, 112 yards and two touchdowns isn't bad, but I guess it wasn't enough for Miami this time 🙅‍♂️. Still, Mark Fletcher's got a lot of heart, and I'm sure he'll bounce back from this 💪. Hard Rock Stadium must've been pretty electric during that final play, tho! 😲

this is like totally fishy man... i mean, what's up with Mark Fletcher just chillin on the field and then BAM! he's throwin' punches? it's like something was triggered, you know? maybe it was that 57-yard run or somethin'... makes me wonder if there's more to it than meets the eye 🤔

i'm thinkin' maybe it's all connected to the playoff system or somethin'. i mean, Fletcher made history and all, but at what cost? maybe the league is tryin' to cover somethin' up, you feel me? and that staffer who intervened... was he in on it too? 😂

omg what a crazy scene at the championship game!!! i was literally on the edge of my seat when mark fletcher just lost it on the field 🤯😱 he's got this huge game and then just goes off like that...i get why he's upset but throwing punches? really? 😩 you could see him going wild before the staffer stepped in to break it up, it was intense! i feel bad for mark though, all his hard work and he just has one meltdown 🤕 anyway, still so proud of him on the field tho...he smashed that 57-yard score record 💥

omg u guys! mark fletcher is literally my boy!!! 😍 i cant even believe he went through that on the field 🤯 first of all he had an amazing game and broke this huge record 📈 507 yards in the playoffs?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? 🤩 i mean i know we lost but that's not his fault 🙅‍♂️ fletcher is just so talented and dedicated to his craft 💪 u can tell he poured his heart out on that field 💕 but yeah the exact cause of the fight is still a mystery 🤔 maybe tyrique tucker was just trying to psyche him out 😏 or maybe mark just got too hyped and lost it 🎉 either way fletcher is still my hero ❤️

omg did u see dat heated brawl on the field lol what was mark fletcher even thinkin throwing punches at some guy?? i know he had an amazing game and all but fam he got his emotions outta control for a sec 🤯 anyway can't believe indiana won that's crazy... i was low-key rooting for miami tho 🤷‍♂️

omg u guys i cant even handle mark fletcher rn he had such an amazing game in that championship loss but like whats with him throwing punches on the field?! 🤯😱 i know he was just so upset and all but geez. anyway his 507 yardage is insane but not enough to take down indiana 😔. i feel bad for him tho, he made history passing ezekiel elliot and now thats just gonna be a big deal in the football world 🤸‍♂️. i wonder what really went down between fletcher and tucker tho 🤔 maybe it was just a crazy moment that got outta control 👀

man i dont get why these young athletes have to deal with all this stress on the field... they're already givin up so much of their lives for the game, and then you gotta worry about throwin punches at some dude on the opposing team? it's like they say, 'the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing' ... but what happens when the good guys feel like they've been pushed too far? the whole culture around sports can be so intense, and it's hard not to wonder if we're just perpetuating a cycle of violence and aggression

OMG, what's goin' on with that Miami kid Mark Fletcher?! 🤯 I feel bad for him, he had an amazing game and still got all worked up like 😡. Can you blame him tho? He was so hyped after breakin' Ezekiel Elliott's record... 57 yards is HUGE! 📏 But then Indiana comes back and takes it from him 🎉. Guess he just needed to let off some steam, lol. Hope everything's alright with Tyrique Tucker too 👍

omg what just happened 😱 i'm still trying to process the game 🏈 i mean mark fletcher seemed so hyped after that 57 yard run and then just loses it on the field 🤯 like he was so into the game but not in a good way 🤷‍♀️ also why did tyrique tucker even get involved in it? 🤔 is he okay? 🤗

.. what a crazy finish to the CFP game 🤯! I mean, Mark Fletcher had an absolute monster of a performance and still gets into a brawl on the field? That's just wild 🔥. I don't know what was going through his mind after that 57-yard run, but you can tell he was feeling some type of way 😤.

And can we talk about how intense the crowd must have been in that stadium? The energy is palpable when guys are throwing punches on the field 🚨! It's not every day you see something like that happen. I'm just glad no one got seriously hurt, fingers crossed 🙏. Anyway, it's gonna be tough for Miami to bounce back from this loss, but they'll get 'em next time 💪.

omg u guys can u blame mark fletcher for gettin so heated?? he just had an amazing game and his team still lost lol i feel bad for him tho, it's not easy to take in after puttin all that effort into the game... 57 yards to pass ezekiel elliot is huge though 🤯 i'm surprised no one got hurt during that altercation, thankfully the staffer intervened quickly 😌 what a way to cap off an already incredible season for miami... still def proud of mark fletcher tho 👍

lol what is wrong with these kids?? 🤯 I was watching this game live and man it was intense! Fletcher's performance was insane, 507 yards in one playoff run? That's crazy talk! But then you gotta wonder why he loses his cool like that on the field... I mean, I get being frustrated but throwing punches? Come on dude! 🤦‍♂️ And what was Tyrique Tucker even doing out there? Was it just bad coaching or did someone tell him to hit Fletcher hard? The staff guy who stopped the fight should get a medal for that 💪. And can we talk about how sad this loss is for Miami fans? I feel bad for them...

I'm still trying to process what I just saw on the field... it's crazy how emotions can get out of control like that 😱. Mark Fletcher had an amazing game, setting records and all, but that last tackle must've gotten under his skin. It's not uncommon for players to lose their cool in these situations, but you'd think with a staffer intervening, things would have been handled better. The poor guy was already on top of the world with his career milestones... it's a shame he had to end the night like that 🤕.
