Michigan’s cannabis market shrinks as new tax threatens more closures, layoffs - Detroit Metro Times

Ugh 🤕 I'm really feeling bad for all those dispensary owners and their employees... it's like they're getting hit from both sides - oversaturation and now this new tax is just gonna push them over the edge 💸. Small businesses are already struggling, what with online shopping and big corporations making it hard for anyone to compete.

I don't think limiting competition is the answer either 🙅‍♂️. I get that it's a tough industry, but shouldn't we be supporting those little guys instead of just bailing out the ones who can afford it? They're the ones who are gonna make Michigan's cannabis scene special and unique.

And what's with this 24% tax?! 🤑 It's already killing sales, and now it's like a big ol' boot on their necks. I guess that's just how it goes - the government comes in and messes everything up... sigh 😒

THE MICHIGAN CANNABIS INDUSTRY IS IN TURMOIL 🤯. IT'S LIKE A BUBBLE THAT'S ABOUT TO POP. PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR JOBS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS ARE STRUGGLING TO KEEP UP. THE WHOLE THING FEELS OVER-SATURATED AND NOW THEY'RE TRYING TO CUT BACK ON COMPETITION BUT IT JUST MAKES THINGS WORSE FOR THE SMALLEST OPERATORS. THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GET CREATIVE IF THEY WANT TO SURVIVE IN THIS INDUSTRY.

😕 I feel so bad for all those people who lost their jobs in the cannabis industry. 550 dispensaries and cultivators shutting down is crazy! 🤯 It's like they're getting hit from two angles - oversaturated supply and this new 24% wholesale tax is really taking a toll. 💸 Small businesses are gonna struggle, especially the ones that aren't as big or have less resources to absorb the costs. 😩

I don't think limiting competition is the answer, though. That could stifle innovation and hurt smaller cities even more. 🤔 What they should do is find ways for all businesses to adapt and grow together. Maybe there's a way to make the tax work for everyone, not just the big corporations. 💡 We need to support our entrepreneurs and help them navigate these changes. It's not easy, but we can do it! 💪

I'm telling you, this wholesale tax is a disaster 🤯! Small businesses are getting squished by big corporations. What's the point of having competition if the bigger guys just absorb the costs? It's like they're playing a game of monopoly and everyone else has to fold. And don't even get me started on the impact on growers - 191 operations closing is crazy numbers 📉. The whole industry is struggling, and it's not just about the tax, it's about the lack of regulation too. We need to find a balance between making money for the state and supporting small businesses that actually care about their customers 💸
