I'm low-key surprised that Chris Madel is outta the governor's race already ... I mean, he made some good points about Operation Metro Surge and how it's affecting people in Minnesota. I've got a friend who was pulled over by ICE agents for like, no reason at all... it's crazy! And now with Sen. Pete Ricketts calling for an investigation into Alex Pretti's killing, you can tell the GOP is getting more and more uncomfortable about this whole thing . Madel's decision might actually be a good thing for the other candidates though - they can just own that issue now instead of having him deal with it . I'm still thinking about who's gonna win the nomination, but one thing's for sure: immigration enforcement in MN is getting more heat .
omg did u see that minnesota rep just dropped out of the gov race over this whole immigration thing? i mean i get it, ppl in his state are super upset about all these pretextual stops by ice agents and how it affected them... but honestly i'm still trying to wrap my head around why anyone would want to run for office if they dont support their own party's stance on immigration
i feel bad for the ppl who voted for him, cuz now they gotta reevaluate all these other reps running for gov. its like, what even is the point of having a primary if u r just gonna leave cuz the party does something u disagree with? anywayz i hope whoever takes his spot can make some real changes in minnesota
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad... I mean, Chris Madel dropping out of the gubernatorial race because of the GOP's immigration stance is kinda a relief? But on the other hand, it means there's still a lot of division within the party and that doesn't bode well for, like, actually getting things done. And what really gets me is how Madel is criticizing the whole Operation Metro Surge thing when he was originally all about supporting it... now I'm not sure if he's just trying to save face or genuinely change his tune? Anyway, this whole situation just makes me think that we need more nuanced discussions around immigration enforcement and how it affects everyday people... like, for real talk, what even is the party's stance on this stuff?!
OMG just saw this news about Chris Madel dropping out of the MN gov race cuz he can't stomach GOP's immigration stance on Operation Metro Surge... like wth is going on? Pretextual stops by ICE agents on U.S. citizens? That's straight up crazy! And now with Reps from Ohio, PA & Nebraska calling for an investigation into Alex Pretti's killing, it's getting really messy . Guess some people just can't handle the heat... or in this case, the party's stance on immigration enforcement
