Morey's Piers retires SkyCoaster, which for more than 25 years sent riders soaring from 110 feet in the air

Morey's Piers has officially retired its iconic SkyCoaster, a thrill-seeking attraction that dominated the amusement park landscape for over two and a half decades. For nearly three decades, the SkyCoaster strapped riders to steel cables suspended 110 feet above the sand, sending them soaring at breakneck speeds of up to 60 miles per hour before plummeting back down.

The pendulum-style ride, which debuted in the mid-1990s, was more than just a thrill for its patrons – it was an experience. Couples would even plan romantic stunts, including a notable proposal atop the ride that took place months after its opening. In 2016, Harlem Globetrotter Bull Bullard pulled off an impressive trick shot while suspended from the cables.

The SkyCoaster's legacy can be seen in the dozens of videos uploaded to YouTube featuring screaming passengers. While the park has since upgraded and reimagined other attractions at Adventure Pier, including the return of the iconic Great White wooden roller coaster with new trains and enhancements, the departure of the SkyCoaster marks a significant change for the Wildwood amusement park.

In a social media post announcing the ride's closure, Morey's Piers expressed gratitude to its patrons for facing their fears and embracing the thrill. As the park looks to the future, it promises to reimagine Adventure Pier with new adventures on the horizon – but for now, fans of the SkyCoaster will have to say goodbye to this beloved piece of amusement park history.

🤔 I'm surprised they're really closing down the SkyCoaster. I mean, it's been a classic for so long. Have we seen any crowds plummet since they started announcing its retirement? I need some data on that before I believe it's gone for good. Anyone know if there are still some die-hard fans who will keep riding until it's really gone? 🤷‍♂️

man i'm shocked they're retiring that thing 🤯 I remember riding it as a kid and screaming my lungs out 😂 it was such an experience, you knew you were gonna get a rush from just sitting on that ride. and can we talk about the proposal? that's some real love 💕. its crazy to think its been gone for over 2.5 yrs now, feels like just yesterday im watching vids of people screaming on youtube 📹. i guess u gotta evolve with times tho, but itll be weird not seein the SkyCoaster at Moreys anymore 😔

Man... 😔 those were the days! I remember riding that thing with my friends when we were kids and screaming our lungs out 🗣️. We thought it was the most intense ride ever, and we wanted to do it like 10 times in a row ⏩. I'm actually kinda sad they're getting rid of it... I mean, it's not like they didn't upgrade other rides or anything, but still 🤔. It's like, the SkyCoaster was this iconic part of Morey's Piers' identity, you know? And now it's just... gone 💥. But hey, I guess that's progress and all that 😊.

🤔 what's up with these old-school coasters? everyone's always goin' on about them new fancy rides that are all about them VR experiences and stuff 🎮. don't get me wrong, i love a good VR thrill as much as the next person, but there's somethin' special about the raw adrenaline rush of an old-school coaster like the SkyCoaster 😂. it's like the park is just throwin' out all these modern attractions that are basically just more expensive cars with fancy seats 🚗.

i remember seein' videos of people screamin' on them things and thinkin' 'yo, that looks intense! 💥'. and now they're just gone? i feel like we're losin' somethin' special here. still, gotta respect the park's decision to move on 🔄. maybe they'll bring back a new classic coaster or somethin'...

🤕 I'm still in shock when I heard that Morey's Piers is closing down their iconic SkyCoaster! That thing was a thrill-seeker's dream come true 🎠😱. I mean, who wouldn't want to strap themselves to steel cables and fly at 60 miles per hour? It's crazy to think about all the proposals and crazy stunts that took place on that ride - it really became an experience, not just a rollercoaster 😂.

Now that it's gone, I'm kinda sad 🤔. But, I guess that's progress, right? Morey's Piers has gotta stay fresh, right? They're gonna bring in new attractions and stuff. Still, it's hard to let go of a piece of nostalgia like the SkyCoaster. Anyone else gonna miss this ride? 😢
