MP Dan Norris arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and upskirting

A British MP has been arrested for the second time on suspicion of serious sex crimes, sparking widespread condemnation from politicians across the aisle. Dan Norris, a 66-year-old independent MP who defeated Jacob Rees-Mogg in the last election, was taken into custody by Avon and Somerset police on Tuesday.

The latest allegations centre around alleged rape, sexual assault, voyeurism, and upskirting against multiple women over two decades. Norris has repeatedly denied all the allegations, calling them "untrue" through his lawyers. The Labour Party, with whom Norris had previously been affiliated, suspended him last year after his initial arrest on similar charges.

The investigation into the latest allegations began in December 2024 and initially led to Norris's arrest on suspicion of sexual offences against a girl, rape, child abduction, and misconduct in public office in April. However, police later shifted their focus to the more serious allegations against women.

Avon and Somerset Police stated that they are no longer investigating alleged crimes against children but continue to investigate the original rape and misconduct in public office charges. The force acknowledged that probing these allegations can be "sensitive and complex", leading to lengthy investigations that keep victims updated on developments.

Meanwhile, a Labour Party spokesperson expressed their outrage over the new allegations, stating that anyone found guilty of such heinous crimes should face full justice. As Norris was already facing a high level of scrutiny as an MP, this latest development could put even more pressure on him to resign or be removed from office.

Norris had previously held prominent positions in government and charity work before entering politics again at the 2024 election.

Ugh ๐Ÿ˜’ just great another one of these cases where it's all over social media before we even know what's really going on ๐Ÿ“ฐ๐Ÿ˜ณ I mean, 66 years old, how many chances does this guy have to get it right? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ And Labour is already saying he should be removed from office, like that's a done deal or something ๐Ÿ™„ Meanwhile, the police are being all sensitive and complex about it, no pressure at all ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ Can't wait for the next bombshell to drop ๐Ÿคฏ

I donโ€™t usually comment but I think itโ€™s crazy how someone who was just elected can have such a dark past like this ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, I get that we should be holding people accountable for their actions and all, but it feels like we're just jumping to conclusions without giving them a fair chance to defend themselves.

It's also super sad that the Labour Party had to suspend him last year already, which is like, totally understandable ๐Ÿค•. It's not easy being in politics, especially when you've got secrets lurking around. I think it's time for us to focus on understanding what really happened instead of just throwing the book at him.

I don't know if Norris will ever get a second chance or not, but I hope that by now we can start having more nuanced conversations about how to deal with people who have made mistakes in the past ๐Ÿ’ก. Maybe it's time for us to think outside the box and find ways to help them recover instead of just shaming them ๐Ÿค.

Ugh ๐Ÿ˜’ just saw that Dan Norris got arrested AGAIN ๐Ÿš” for serious sex crimes... like what's going on with this guy?! ๐Ÿคฏ He was already accused last year and now new allegations are popping up like crazy ๐Ÿ“ฃ. I'm not even a fan of politics, but come on! ๐Ÿ™„ How can someone be re-elected if they're under investigation? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And what's with the Labour Party's response? All this drama is just giving me anxiety ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. Can't we just focus on getting justice for the victims instead of all the backroom politicking? ๐Ÿ’”

I'm so fed up with these online forums anyway ๐Ÿ˜’ but seriously, can't we focus on the actual issue here? This MP's latest arrest is a huge deal, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it... ๐Ÿคฏ two decades of alleged crimes?! How did this guy get away with it for so long?!

And what's with the police investigation process? It feels like they're not taking these allegations seriously enough. They're saying that probing these allegations can be "sensitive and complex", but I think that's just a fancy way of saying "we don't want to rock the boat". ๐Ÿ™„

I'm all for due process, but come on! The Labour Party is already speaking out about this guy, and it's only going to get worse if he gets found guilty. Can we please just have some accountability here?! ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Ugh, I'm so appalled but not surprised ๐Ÿคฏ. Another high-profile figure accused of something like this? It's a huge deal, especially considering Norris is an MP. But come on, how many times do we have to see someone like this before we start taking action? ๐Ÿ™„ The fact that he was able to keep his job for so long despite all these allegations is just crazy. I get that investigations can be slow and complex, but at what point does enough become enough? Norris's career was already on shaky ground after the last arrest, and now this new stuff comes out... it's only a matter of time before he gets the boot. But seriously, how many women have to go through this trauma for someone like this to finally face justice? ๐Ÿค•

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ just heard about Dan Norris getting arrested for like super serious sex crimes again ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I feel so bad for the victims who are going through this ๐Ÿ’” it's just awful that he's denying all allegations but still faces these super serious charges ๐Ÿ˜’ his party is right though in saying that anyone guilty should face full justice โš–๏ธ it's not right to let people get away with this kind of abuse of power ๐Ÿค Norris's whole career is being thrown into chaos now and I don't know how he'll bounce back from this ๐Ÿ’ฅ as a public figure, you've got to be held to the highest standards of integrity ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

just read about dan norris and i gotta say, 66 yrs old man accused of serious sex crimes? not cool. like how did he even get elected as an mp again? seems like a pattern to me. 2 arrests already, that's red flag. police saying investigations can be sensitive but still need to keep victims updated? yeah, no kidding. labour party right to suspend him last year and now they're speaking out again. gotta give them points for standing up against someone who allegedly committed such heinous crimes. norris needs to step down or face full justice. btw, how many women did these allegations affect? 5, 10, who knows? still a huge concern for all of us ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿšซ

๐Ÿค• This is just another sad day for British politics, I'm afraid ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, who wants to think about some bloke using his power of office to exploit women? Not me, that's for sure ๐Ÿ˜ท. Dan Norris should have never been in a position where he could get away with this stuff, and now he's gotta face the music โฐ. Labour Party's right to be outraged โ€“ it's like they say, you can't serve time for crimes you've committed if you're not willing to face consequences ๐Ÿšซ.

You know what's even more disturbing? The fact that these allegations are from TWO DECADES AGO ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ! What was he doing all that time? How many other people got hurt by him? These politicians always seem so quick to jump on the bandwagon, but where were they when it mattered most? ๐Ÿ˜’ Norris's career is toast โ€“ he might as well pack up his bags and head for the exit ๐ŸŽ‰.
