i hope they get some sick solutions for that crater detection thingie because space exploration is getting crazy expensive

. I mean, we're talking about NASA pouring $55k into a competition that's basically asking people to figure out how to detect craters on the moon using orbital images 
. It's cool and all, but can't they just use AI or something? 
I don't know if it's worth the hype... maybe it'll lead to some innovation, but we've seen a lot of these types of challenges come and go without much lasting impact 
. On the other hand, if someone can develop a reliable method for crater detection, that'd be awesome
