National Guard member shot in DC has shown positive signs, West Virginia governor says

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey has revealed positive signs regarding the recovery of US Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, a National Guard member shot in Washington D.C. last week. According to Morrisey, Wolfe showed improvement by responding to a nurse's question and wiggling his toes, which indicates that he is still fighting for his life but is making progress.

Wolfe was one of the two National Guard members attacked by 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal while deployed as part of President Donald Trump's crime-fighting plan. The other member of the West Virginia National Guard, U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, tragically passed away in the shooting.

Morrisey expressed his support for Wolfe's family, asking them to pray for their loved one. He also revealed that funeral arrangements for Beckstrom have not yet been finalized but will be kept private at her family's request.

The investigation into the motive behind the shooting is ongoing, and Lakanwal remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The Trump administration has halted asylum decisions and paused issuing visas for people traveling on Afghan passports in response to the incident.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had asked the President to send 500 additional National Guard members to Washington, but Morrisey stated that West Virginia has not been asked to deploy more troops from its National Guard. With nearly 2,200 troops currently stationed in the city and over 300 having volunteered for extended deployments, the state's focus remains on supporting the families of its service members and providing prayers for Wolfe's recovery.

😬 I'm kinda glad that Sgt. Wolfe is showing some signs of improvement πŸ™...it's still super scary that he was shot in broad daylight though πŸ’”. The fact that his family's support means everything to him must be a huge weight off their shoulders πŸ’•. On the other hand, it's really sad that Spc. Beckstrom isn't going to get a proper sendoff 🎯...it's crazy how some things are just private like that. Anyway, I hope Sgt. Wolfe gets better soon and that this whole incident doesn't lead to more violence πŸ˜”.

omg this is sooo sad πŸ€• i cant even imagine bein in sarah beckstroms shoes πŸ™ her memory will live on thru the sacrifice she made 500 more troops? that sounds like a lot, but ill never forget when trump came to power i was worried it would affect the national guard a lot. morrissey seems like a stand-up guy for keepin it private about beckstroms funeral lol good luck to wolfe fam, stay positive πŸ’ͺ

OMG, this is such a scary situation πŸ€•! I'm glad to hear that Sgt. Wolfe is showing some improvement though 😊. It's like, his toes wiggling and all that... it's tiny progress, but progress nonetheless πŸ’ͺ. I just hope the dude who did this gets the help he needs and not gets away with this πŸ˜”. And R.I.P. to Spc. Beckstrom, she was such a brave girl πŸ’•. I'm all for supporting our troops and their families πŸ™. It's crazy that they're having so many issues with asylum seekers and stuff right now... can't we just find a way to help people in need? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Ugh, this is just another example of how messed up the world is πŸ€•. Some random psycho goes off on two National Guard members in DC and now one guy's fighting for his life? Give me a break πŸ™„. I mean, 500 more National Guardsmen are being sent to DC? That's just gonna make things worse. And what about the dude who did it? Still getting non-life threatening injuries because of how our justice system works πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. The fact that they're focusing on prayers for Andrew Wolfe instead of catching this guy is just... sigh... we'll see how long that gets us anywhere πŸ˜’.

πŸ™ You know I'm thinking about how crazy this world is - one minute you're serving your country, next thing you know you're fighting for your life because some folks don't understand what it means to be human. This Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe is making progress, that's a good sign but it's also hard not to think about Spc. Sarah Beckstrom who didn't make it. I'm so glad WV Governor Morrisey is being there for Wolfe's family, they need all the support they can get right now. It's like when my husband was in a car accident back in the day, we were all over the news - prayer and love go a long way πŸ’•. The more I think about it, the more I wish we could just talk to each other, you know? Get past the hate and find common ground... we're all just trying to make it through this thing called life 🌎

Just heard about Staff Sgt Wolfe, poor guy... my thoughts are with him and his family, they must be going through such a tough time πŸ€•. It's good to know he's showing some signs of improvement, but still has a long way to go before he can come home πŸ™. Can't help but wonder what drove Rahmanullah Lakanwal to do something so senseless... hope the investigation gets to the bottom of it and justice is served πŸ’‘. Anyway, praying for Wolfe's recovery and sending positive vibes his way ❀️.

OMG u can feel the positivity emanating from Gov Morrisey 🌞️! It's like, huge relief that Sgt Wolfe is showing some signs of improvement πŸ’ͺ. I mean, wiggling toes is def a good sign, lol πŸ˜‚. But seriously, this just shows that our troops are still fighting for their lives and it's giving me chills πŸ™. My thoughts r with Sgt Wolfe & his fam 🀝, and also with Spc Beckstrom's loved ones who are grieving πŸ’”. It's heartbreaking to think about the loss of life & the impact on families & communities 😒. Fingers crossed for Sgt Wolfe's speedy recovery & peace soon πŸ™πŸ’•

🀞 That's some good news about Staff Sgt. Wolfe! I'm glad to hear he's showing signs of improvement 🌱. It's just devastating that Spc. Beckstrom didn't make it, rest her soul ✝️. The situation is still so mysterious though, like what could have driven Rahmanullah Lakanwal to do such a thing? πŸ˜• It's crazy to think about the consequences of those actions now - halting asylum decisions and pausing visa issues for people from Afghanistan πŸ€”... I guess that's the kind of pressure we need in these uncertain times πŸ’ͺ. And I feel for West Virginia, they're already so stretched thin with their National Guard troops πŸ™. It's heartbreaking to see them trying to balance support for families while keeping their troops safe 🌟

man... this is a crazy time 🀯. I'm glad to hear that Sgt Wolfe is showing some signs of improvement, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. We've been down this road before with other mass shootings in the US 🌎. It feels like every other week we're hearing about another attack on our soil πŸ’”. And now this? I just hope they catch the guy and find out why he did it... that's the thing that really hurts, you know? The motive behind these attacks is what keeps me up at night 😬. We need to take care of our troops and their families, no doubt about it 🀝. But we also need to be honest with ourselves about what's going on here. Let's hope Sgt Wolfe recovers soon πŸ’ͺ

🀞 that's a good sign for Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe! i hope he recovers fully, it's amazing what little things like wiggling his toes can show we're still fighting the good fight πŸ™πŸ’ͺ and yeah, it's so sad that Spc. Sarah Beckstrom passed away, she was a hero too πŸ’” my heart goes out to both Wolfe's family and Beckstrom's loved ones 🌟

This is a classic case of 'America First' vs Global Responsibilities πŸ€”. Trump's crime-fighting plan has come under scrutiny again, and now we're seeing the consequences of his policies. It's not just about the National Guard members, but also about the lives lost and the families affected. West Virginia's response to this tragedy is a good example of community support - focusing on the families and providing prayers for recovery πŸ’•.

But let's not forget that there are implications beyond just the US 🌎. Afghanistan's involvement in this incident raises questions about their role in global security and their treatment of military personnel. Is it possible that Lakanwal's actions were a cry for help, or a misguided attempt at justice? It's also worth noting that the Trump administration's response - halting asylum decisions and pausing visa issuance - might not address the root causes of such incidents 🌟.

As an American, I want to see us learn from our mistakes and work towards creating a more harmonious global community. We can't just send more troops without considering the consequences or finding diplomatic solutions πŸ’ͺ.

🀞🏼 This whole situation is still so messed up πŸ˜” I mean, can you even imagine walking into a random person and just shooting them? It's like, what's going on with people these days πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Anyway, back to Wolfe - it's amazing that he's showing some signs of recovery, but let's not get too excited yet πŸ˜…. We need to see more progress before we can start celebrating. And what about the guy who did this? Rahmanullah Lakanwal, right? πŸ€” He's still in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries? Like, isn't that weird? πŸ’€

And omg, I'm so sorry for Sarah Beckstrom's family πŸ™. Losing someone like that is just heartbreaking. The funeral arrangements are going to be private, but that doesn't make it any less sad 😒. And can we talk about how the Trump admin is reacting to this? 🀯 Sending 500 more National Guard members sounds crazy! But at the same time, I get why they want to increase security in D.C. It's like, you've got to be prepared for something like this to happen again πŸ’₯.

Anyway, let's all just take a deep breath and hope that Wolfe makes it through this πŸ™πŸ’•

🀞 that Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe is getting better, it's like super good news! I was really worried about him after hearing what happened πŸ™ his toes wiggling means he's still fighting and all that's awesome. 🌟 it's not easy for the family of U.S. Army Spc Sarah Beckstrom, she passed away in the attack 🌹 my heart goes out to them. I feel bad for Rahmanullah Lakanwal too, but his actions were so wrong πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I'm glad the investigation is still going on to find out why he did it. πŸ˜• Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and President Trump's decision to send more troops is worrying though πŸ‘€ do we really need that many? πŸ€”

I'm glad they're keeping us updated on Sgt. Wolfe's condition but I need more info on how reliable is that "improvement"? Is it just the nurse asking him a question or did he actually respond in a meaningful way? And what's with the lack of specifics on Lakanwal's motive? 500 extra National Guard members to DC? That sounds like a lot of taxpayer dollars spent. I'm all for supporting our troops, but shouldn't we be focusing on stopping these attacks before they happen instead of throwing more resources at it?

OMG πŸ˜±πŸ™, this is so concerning πŸ€•! I mean, shooting two National Guard members just doesn't sit right πŸ™„. And now we're talking about sending more troops to Washington? Like, what's the point of that? πŸ€” They should be focusing on getting to the bottom of this and figuring out why it happened πŸ’‘.

And I'm so sad πŸ€— for the family of Spc. Sarah Beckstrom. It's just devastating 😭 that we're still dealing with a lot of uncertainty about her funeral arrangements... πŸ€• private, but still not knowing when or where she'll be laid to rest is just too much πŸ’”.

I'm hoping Sgt. Wolfe recovers fully soon πŸ™, but this whole thing is just really frustrating πŸ˜’. We need answers, and we need them now πŸ’ͺ!

omg u guys can't even 🀯... just when u think things can't get any crazier, this is what's happening in DC! πŸ—½οΈ I mean, i feel so bad for Sgt. Wolfe & his family... 200+ days in the hospital after getting shot... that's like, forever πŸ’”... & now he's showing some signs of improvement? That's awesome πŸ™Œ but still a long way to go...

i'm also thinking about Spc. Beckstrom... she passed away, that's just heartbreaking 😭... my heart goes out to her family too πŸ€—

anywayz, i don't wanna be all negative... let's focus on the positive vibes! πŸŒˆπŸ’– Sgt. Wolfe is getting better & his family's getting support from the gov πŸ™... that's what matters most πŸ’•

man that's still a dark spot πŸ€•... u can't help but feel bad 4 Sgt Wolfe & his fam... 500 more National Guardsmen deployed? thats a lot of pressure on them already πŸ’”... hope he recovers, but meanwhile its just another sobering reminder of the risks our soldiers face when they're serving abroad πŸŒŸπŸ’€

.. this is just crazy 🀯... can't even believe what's happening with our service men & women these days πŸ˜”. I mean, I know we're at war, but it's just getting outta hand, you feel me? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ One minute they're serving their country, the next thing you know, some psycho is shooting 'em up in broad daylight. It's just heartbreaking 🎭.

And now this poor guy Andrew Wolfe is still fighting for his life... wiggling his toes and all that 😩... it's like, we gotta get to the bottom of this ASAP ⏰! And what's with all these asylum decisions being put on hold? Like, how are people supposed to leave their home countries if they can't even stay safe here? πŸ€”. It's just so much going on and I don't know where to start πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ.

But for real tho... let's focus on gettin' Andrew Wolfe the help he needs πŸ’•. His family deserves no less, you feelin' me? 😊 And we should all be prayin' for his recovery, too πŸ™. This is what it means to be a good neighbor and a decent human being πŸ‘«.
