Neither Israel nor Hamas interested in phase 2 of ceasefire, researcher says

Israel and Hamas have shown little interest in advancing to the next phase of a ceasefire, according to Hussein Ibish, a senior researcher at the Arab Gulf States Institute.

In an interview with FRANCE 24, Ibish believes that neither side is eager to move forward, citing their respective priorities. For Israel, the primary goal is still annexation of the West Bank, while Hamas' focus remains on seizing control of the Palestinian national movement from Fatah and transforming it into a more Islamist entity.

This stance suggests that both parties are dug in and unwilling to compromise. Ibish's assessment highlights the complexity of the situation and the difficulty of achieving a lasting ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Honestly, I'm getting really frustrated with this whole Israel-Palestine thing 🀯. It feels like we're stuck in this never-ending cycle of violence and no one's willing to make any real concessions. Ibish is right, both sides seem super entrenched in their positions and it's hard to see how they can ever move forward without some serious compromise.

For Israel, the West Bank annexation thing just doesn't sit right with me - it feels like a huge power grab πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. And on the other hand, Hamas' Islamist agenda is just worrying... I mean, we're talking about a whole bunch of people who've been through some really tough stuff and you want to start imposing your own ideology? No thanks πŸ˜’.

What I wish would happen is for both sides to just sit down and have a real conversation about what's best for everyone. We need to find a way to create some real peace and stability in this region - it's the only way we're gonna move forward πŸ’ͺ

I'm so worried about this whole situation πŸ€•... I mean, think back to the '93 Oslo Accords, right? People were all hopeful that we'd finally see some progress on the Middle East peace front 🌎. But now, it seems like Israel and Hamas are just dug in their heels πŸ’ͺ. Like, what happened to those days when world leaders would try to broker a deal over dinner or something 🍴? Nowadays, it's all just about setting conditions and waiting for the other guy to blink πŸ”’.

I'm not even gonna get into how much I wish they'd focus on economic development instead of all this bickering πŸ’Έ. The Palestinian people are suffering, man... it's like, can't we all just try to coexist peacefully? 🀝

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole Israeli-Palestinian thing. Like, what's going on is that neither side wants to let go of their goals, you know? For Israel, it's all about getting what they want from the West Bank – annexation, basically. And for Hamas, it's about taking control and turning the Palestinian movement into something more Islamist. It's like, both parties are super dug in and refusing to budge.

I'm not sure what's holding them back from moving forward with a ceasefire, but Ibish makes some good points. I mean, if Israel is so keen on annexing the West Bank, it seems counterintuitive that they'd be interested in a ceasefire. And for Hamas, seizing control and transforming the movement isn't exactly going to help them win friends or get international recognition.

It's all just really frustrating, you know? The situation is so complex, and both parties are willing to fight tooth and nail over their goals. I guess what Ibish is saying is that we need a better understanding of what each side wants and why, but at the same time, it's hard to see how they can compromise when their priorities are so different. πŸ€”πŸ’”

idk about this ceasfire thing, feels like they're just playing a never endin game of cat & mouse 🀯. both israel & hamas are stuck on their own agendas, ain't nobody movin in any direction. it's all about the annexation for israel and takin over the palestinian movement for hamas, what's the point of even havin a ceasefire if you're just gonna keep goin back to the same old fights πŸ€”? need somethin more than just empty promises & negotiations from both sides...

πŸ€” this whole ceasefire thing feels like a stalemate, you know? nobody's really trying to move forward 🚫. Israel's still pushing for that West Bank annexation, and Hamas is more worried about taking over the Palestinian national movement from Fatah... it's just hard to see how they're gonna work together πŸ’”. both sides seem pretty dug in, and that makes a lasting ceasefire super tough to achieve 🀯. Ibish makes a good point, the situation is really complicated 😬.

I'm like totally stumped by this whole thing 🀯. I mean, I get it, both sides have their priorities, but come on, can't they just try to coexist or something? 😩 It's like they're stuck in these trenches and won't budge. Israel wants the West Bank annexed and Hamas is all about taking control of the Palestinian movement... it sounds like a never-ending cycle of violence to me 🚫. And Ibish says neither side is willing to compromise, which is so sad πŸ€•. Can't we just try to find some common ground? πŸ˜”

πŸ€” I'm not surprised by this news, tbh πŸ™ƒ. It's like watching a never-ending episode of Game of Thrones – both sides are so invested in their own agendas, they're not willing to budge πŸ’ͺ. For Israel, it's all about the annexation deal, and Hamas is just trying to take control of the Palestinian movement 🀝. It's like a big game of chess, but instead of pawns, they're using human lives as pieces 🚫.

I wish they could see things from each other's perspective, you know? Like in that movie Inception – where dreams and reality get all mixed up 😴. But until then, it's just going to be a never-ending cycle of violence and destruction βš”οΈ. We need more leaders like Nelson Mandela who can bring people together 🌟. This conflict has been going on for so long, I'm starting to think that the next generation will have to live with the consequences 🀯.

πŸ€” This whole thing is so messed up, you know? Like, what's the point of even trying for a ceasefire if nobody's really committed to it? It's like they're just going through the motions, waiting for someone else to make the first move. πŸ•°οΈ Israel's got its sights set on the West Bank, and Hamas is all about taking down Fatah and making some radical changes... I don't know, man, it feels like we're just stuck in this never-ending cycle of violence and retaliation. πŸ’₯ And Ibish says they're both dug in, unwilling to budge... it's like they're trapped in their own little worlds, unable to see a way out. 🌐 It makes you wonder, what are we even fighting for here? Is it just about control and power, or is there something more to it? πŸ’” I mean, I'm no expert, but it feels like we're missing the bigger picture.
