Netflix is reportedly in exclusive talks to acquire Warner Bros. and HBO

Netflix is reportedly on the cusp of sealing a massive deal to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery's film and TV studios, as well as its flagship streaming service, HBO Max. According to sources close to Bloomberg, Netflix submitted a higher offer than rival bidders Paramount Skydance Corp and Comcast, sparking excitement among industry insiders.

The proposed acquisition would grant Netflix unprecedented access to some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Batman, Lord of the Rings, and Friends, as well as an extensive library of series such as The Sopranos and Game of Thrones. The Burbank studios and a massive archive of 12,500 feature films would also be part of the deal.

However, not all of Warner Bros. Discovery's assets are up for grabs. Cable channels CNN, TBS, and TNT, valued at over $60 billion, would remain separate entities and be spun off prior to closing. This move is seen as a strategic attempt by CEO David Zaslav to split his company into more manageable parts.

Netflix has offered an eye-watering $28 per share for Warner Bros. Discovery minus the cable assets, which represents a significant premium over its current market value of around $7.50. The deal would be a game-changer for Netflix, marking its first major acquisition since launching as a streaming service.

However, regulators are likely to scrutinize the deal closely, particularly due to President Trump's reported close ties to Paramount Skydance Corp owner Larry Ellison. Additionally, the acquisition would require approval from regulatory bodies in multiple countries, given Warner Bros. Discovery's global reach.

A key sweetener offered by Netflix is a $5 billion breakup fee if the deal doesn't gain regulatory approval. This represents a considerable risk on Netflix's part and could have far-reaching implications for its content strategy and theatrical release commitments.

If approved, the acquisition would send shockwaves through the entertainment industry, altering the landscape of Hollywood and the streaming market forever. It remains to be seen whether Netflix will choose to integrate HBO Max into its existing catalog or maintain it as a separate service.

๐Ÿคฏ This acquisition is gonna change everything! Can you imagine having Batman and Lord of the Rings under one roof? ๐Ÿฆ‡โš”๏ธ The thought of having those epic franchises at our fingertips is just mind-blowing. And let's not forget about all the other amazing shows like Friends, Game of Thrones, and The Sopranos - it's a treasure trove of content for Netflix! ๐Ÿ’ฅ But, I'm also worried about the regulatory hurdles they're gonna face. It's like they're playing with fire ๐ŸŒก๏ธ, but at the same time, if they pull it off, it could be game-changing for Netflix. One thing is for sure, this deal would shake up the industry and leave us all wondering what's next! ๐Ÿ”ฎ

๐Ÿค” This deal is gonna change the game for Netflix, IMO. They're basically getting their hands on some of the biggest IPs out there, which would totally boost their content library. I mean, think about it - Batman, Lord of the Rings, Friends... those are household names! ๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿงœโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“บ It's a major coup for Netflix and could give them a huge leg up on the competition.

But, gotta say, the breakup fee is a bit weird. $5 billion is a lot of dough to be at risk if the deal falls through. That could have some serious implications for Netflix's strategy and maybe even affect how they release movies in theaters. ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘€ Either way, it's an interesting development that'll definitely keep us all watching (pun intended).

Wow ๐Ÿคฏ! Can you imagine having all those iconic shows and movies at your fingertips? The thought of binge-watching Batman, Lord of the Rings, and Friends in one place is just too cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž. But what's really interesting is how this deal could change Netflix's content strategy... will they focus more on original programming or try to integrate HBO Max's existing content into their own catalog? ๐Ÿค”

man this news is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ think about it, if netflix gets its hands on warner bros discovery's assets they're basically getting the keys to the kingdom of hollywood and tv magic what does that say about our current streaming landscape where one company can have so much control over our entertainment options? like we're at a point where we gotta question who's really pulling the strings behind these huge deals... is it just about profit or is there something more going on here? ๐Ÿค”

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ this deal is gonna be HUGE for Netflix! Imagine having all those iconic IPs like Batman and Friends under one roof? It's a dream come true for many fans ๐Ÿ™Œ. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, the regulatory approval process can still go south. I'm keeping an eye on the $5 billion breakup fee, that's a huge risk for Netflix ๐Ÿค‘. Will they integrate HBO Max or keep it separate? Only time will tell ๐Ÿ˜. One thing's for sure, this deal is gonna shake things up in Hollywood and change the streaming game forever ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

omg this is going to change everything!! can you even imagine having batman and lord of the rings under one roof? and 12500 films wow that's insane! ๐Ÿคฏ but at the same time, the breakup fee is kinda scary what if the deal doesn't go through? ๐Ÿ’ธ anyway i'm lowkey hoping for it to happen just imagine the content possibilities with all those shows and movies available. this would be a dream come true for so many fans! ๐Ÿ˜

idk why ppl are so hyped about this deal ๐Ÿค”... like isnt netflix already got most of the good stuff? dont get me wrong, having hbomax and all those iconic shows would be a dream come true lol but i think its more about the prestige and control than anything else. plus $28 per share is kinda steep even for the latecomer ๐Ÿค‘... what i do know tho is if it does happen, im excited to see how they integrate everything into their catalog. might change the way we consume entertainment forever ๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿคฏ This is a massive deal that's gonna shake things up in the entertainment industry! I'm both excited and nervous at the same time ๐Ÿค”. On one hand, getting access to these iconic franchises like Batman and Lord of the Rings would be a dream come true for many fans ๐Ÿ‘€. And let's be real, having Warner Bros.'s extensive library of 12,500 feature films would be a game-changer for Netflix's content offerings ๐ŸŽฅ.

But on the other hand, I'm worried about the regulatory hurdles they'll have to jump through ๐Ÿšซ. It's not just about the US market, but also global approvals which can be super tricky ๐ŸŒŽ. And that $5 billion breakup fee? Yeah, that's a big risk for Netflix ๐Ÿ’ธ.

One thing's for sure, though - if this deal goes down, it'll change the way we consume entertainment forever ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Will HBO Max get merged with Netflix or remain separate? We can't wait to see how they play this out ๐ŸŽฌ. One thing I'm hoping is that Netflix uses this acquisition as a chance to prioritize wellness and mindfulness in their content offerings ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Fingers crossed! ๐Ÿ‘

omg can u believe this deal?! ๐Ÿคฏ netflix is about to own some of the biggest studios in hollywood like warchies and batman!!! that would be so lit!!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž plus they get access to tons of amazing tv shows like game of thrones and friends... i'm hyped for the future of streaming!! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

This is gonna change the game big time ๐Ÿคฏ! I'm lowkey hyped about the potential acquisition, but at the same time, kinda worried 'bout the regulatory thingy... all these major players are involved ๐Ÿค‘ and it's anyone's guess how this whole deal will play out. The thought of having Batman and Lord of the Rings under one roof is just insane! And can you even imagine the kind of content Netflix could create with HBO Max? ๐Ÿค” I'm guessing they'll probably keep it separate for now, but only time will tell...

I'm not surprised about this deal ๐Ÿค‘... I mean, think about it, if Netflix gets control over all those iconic franchises like Batman and Friends, they're basically going to own the streaming game for years to come ๐Ÿ’ฅ. And with that kind of influence, you'd expect them to shake things up in Hollywood too ๐Ÿค”.

Plus, it's not like this is a bad thing for Warner Bros. Discovery either... I mean, David Zaslav's splitting his company into more manageable parts? Sounds like he's trying to avoid some of the financial risk and make himself look good at the same time ๐Ÿ˜.

And yeah, regulators will probably take a close look at it, but honestly, I think Netflix can handle that. They're one of the most powerful companies in the world right now ๐Ÿ’ช. The $5 billion breakup fee is just part of the game, you know? It's all about risk management and being prepared for anything ๐Ÿค‘.

If this deal goes through, it's going to be a wild ride for the entertainment industry... and I'm here for it ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Omg ๐Ÿคฏ this deal is gonna change everything ๐ŸŒŽ! 28 bucks per share ๐Ÿ’ธ is insane ๐Ÿค‘ and imagine all those iconic movies & shows ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ“บ like Batman, Lord of the Rings, and Friends ๐Ÿ‘ under one roof ๐Ÿšช. It's a total power move by Netflix ๐Ÿ”„ but they're basically betting on themselves ๐Ÿ’ฏ and hoping regulators won't block it ๐Ÿšซ. The breakup fee is crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ $5 billion! Can you imagine what kind of content that would fund? ๐Ÿค” Anyway, this deal will be HUGE ๐Ÿ”ฅ if it happens so we'll just have to wait & see โฐ๐Ÿ‘€

I'm low-key freaking out about this potential deal ๐Ÿคฏ! Like, can you imagine having all that iconic content at your fingertips? Batman, Lord of the Rings, Friends... my favorite shows and movies would be right there on Netflix! And 12,500 feature films? Mind blown! But at the same time, I'm a bit worried about the regulatory stuff. I mean, President Trump's ties to Larry Ellison could cause some major headaches. Plus, a $5 billion breakup fee is crazy talk ๐Ÿค‘. What if they can't get it approved and Netflix has to pay that out? It would be super risky for them. On the other hand, this deal would be a total game-changer for Netflix... I just don't know what's gonna happen ๐Ÿค”
