Bronx Taxi Driver in Critical Condition After Stabbing Attack, NYPD Seeks Witnesses
A taxi driver is fighting for his life after being stabbed multiple times in the Bronx early Wednesday morning. Osei Kusi, 39, was found unconscious by police at Randall Avenue and White Plains Road around 2:30 a.m. Emergency responders rushed him to Jacobi Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
According to authorities, Kusi was driving his Toyota when an assailant attacked him. The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers identified the victim as a Bronx resident with family ties in Ghana. Osei Kusi had been working as a taxi driver for about eight years and was known to have served in the military in Ghana before settling in the United States.
The organization that represents taxi drivers in the city is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the suspect. "This was an attempted murder and a danger to every New Yorker," said Fernando Mateo, spokesperson for the federation. "Someone out there knows something and must come forward."
Police are reviewing security footage from Kusi's car in hopes of identifying the perpetrator. The victim's uncle, Samuel Cudjoe, expressed shock at the attack, given Osei's peaceful demeanor as a taxi driver. He described his nephew as someone who never argued with anyone.
Kusi worked for a private taxi company, which would call him when new reservations came in. His wife and child are in Ghana, according to authorities. Police are seeking witnesses and encourage members of the public to come forward with information.

. Like, what's the deal? If someone's gonna attack you, it's not about getting paid, it's about hurting another human being on purpose. And 8 years of driving for a living doesn't earn you any immunity to a violent crime 
. Plus, his family in Ghana is all over this too... shouldn't we be more than just a reward amount away from demanding justice?

like what happened to osei kusi he was such a peaceful dude who just drove around and helped ppl get where they needed to go and then BAM someone comes out of nowhere and stabs him like 5 times 
i feel so bad for them and for osei's friends and colleagues who must be going through this too
its just so frustrating when ppl take things out on each other like that
Anyway, the reward for 5k is nice, but I hope they catch the person soon, it's too much senseless violence going around
