NYC tot, 2, hospitalized in critical condition after father allegedly beat him: cops

A 2-year-old boy's life hangs in the balance after his father allegedly subjected him to brutal physical abuse at a Queens homeless shelter.

Dayvon Morrison, 30, was taken into custody Tuesday for the heinous assault on his son, which left the young child fighting for survival. According to sources, Morrison thrashed the toddler at the shelter sometime late Friday night and then took the battered boy in a stroller to Manhattan the next morning.

The boy's condition worsened over several days before a 911 call was made just after 3 a.m. Monday, prompting police to respond to the scene. EMS rushed the child to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition with severe head trauma.

The boy's mother shared a heart-wrenching photo of her son on Instagram, showing him lying unconscious in a hospital bed with dozens of stitches and a gauze taped to his head that read "No Bone." The caption stated that the child is fighting for his life in the ICU.

In another update on Facebook, the boy's mother wrote that doctors believe her son will not be able to develop mentally due to the traumatic injury. She pleaded with God to help her baby, expressing heartbreak and despair over the loss of what she described as a "perfect" child who had just begun to speak and call her "mama mama."

Morrison was arrested Tuesday in Queens and charged with two counts of assault. He appeared disheveled and uncooperative when taken into custody, refusing to answer questions.

The investigation is ongoing, but it remains unclear what Morrison was doing with his son between Saturday and early Monday morning, when the 911 call was made.

my heart is literally shattered reading about this poor child its just not right that some people cant even treat their kids with basic humanity i wish the cops would have arrested the mom too for putting her kid in a situation where this happened what if she had taken steps to protect her son instead of blaming god and sharing it on social media like who does that anyway

OMG, like, isn't it just great how parents get to be superheroes sometimes? ๐Ÿ˜‚ I mean, who needs a PhD in parenting or even basic common sense when you've got a toddler to deal with? Morrison's gotta be, like, super proud of himself for "teaching" his little one some real-life skills... by beating him up ๐Ÿค•. And poor Dayvon, just winging it, right? I mean, who needs a 911 call or even basic medical care when you've got a stroller and some Manhattan streets to navigate? ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ The kid's in ICU with "severe head trauma"... sounds like Morrison gave him a good ol' fashioned riptide experience ๐Ÿ˜‚. And can we talk about how adorable the mom is for sharing those pics and pleading with God? Like, totally not insensitive at all, right? ๐Ÿ™

This is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜”... like, you can't even imagine what that little boy went through, right? And for what? Someone else's anger issues or whatever? It's a harsh reminder of how quickly life can take a turn for the worse.

You know what's crazy? We get so caught up in our own problems and we forget about the people around us who might be going through way more than we are. This poor kid, he was just two years old... still learning to talk, still getting into diapers... and his whole world is shattered like that. It's a tough lesson to learn, but sometimes life can be really cruel.

We gotta ask ourselves, what's driving people to act out in such extreme ways? Is it loneliness? Anger management issues? Mental health problems? Whatever the reason, we need to make sure we're supporting each other and looking out for those who might not have a voice. We all gotta take responsibility for our actions... or lack thereof. It's time to reflect on what we can do differently to prevent situations like this from happening in the future ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’–

This is so sad ๐Ÿค•... a tiny soul going through this at such a young age... ๐Ÿ™ The technology we have today can't even come close to the level of care that kids need, especially in situations like this... what were they thinking?! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ It's just not right. As a parent myself, I'm literally shaken by this... how do parents become so violent? ๐Ÿ’”

OMG this is just so heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ฉ like how can someone be so cruel to their own child?! ๐Ÿ˜ญ The little boy's life is literally hanging by a thread right now ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’ฅ and it's all because of his dad's sick behavior ๐Ÿคฏ. I'm thinking the mom is going through some serious trauma here too, being in pain watching her baby fight for survival ๐Ÿค’๐Ÿ˜ฉ and not knowing if he'll even be able to develop mentally due to that severe head trauma ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ’”. What kind of monster does this to their own flesh & blood?! ๐Ÿ‘บ๐Ÿ˜ก Justice should be served ASAP though โš–๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ, so the world can see how these people think ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. We gotta pray for the little boy's recovery ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’ซ and hope he bounces back from this traumatic experience ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’ฅ! #JusticeForTheVictim #SupportTheFamily #HealingHandsForTheLittleBoy

๐Ÿคฏ Can't believe this guy, Dayvon Morrison, he's literally got no conscience. Two-year-old kid and he just beats him up like a punching bag. And then has the nerve to take that poor little guy on a stroll in Manhattan like nothing happened? ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ This is so sickening. I'm all for holding people accountable for their actions, especially when it comes to protecting children. Morrison's gonna get life, mark my words ๐Ÿ’ฏ

๐Ÿค• I'm so worried about this little boy's future... 2 years old is way too young for anything like this to happen. The fact that his dad just took him out in a stroller without anyone noticing he was hurt is crazy. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ And now the mom's saying her son might not be able to talk or do anything right? That's devastating. I hope the police catch the guy and get some answers about what happened between Saturday and Monday morning. It's just so heartbreaking for this poor family...

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ, this is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•... my heart goes out to that poor little boy ๐Ÿ‘ฆ... how can anyone do this to an innocent kid? ๐Ÿ˜ญ it's like a nightmare come true ๐Ÿ’”... I mean, what kind of person beats up their own child? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ the worst part is that little one is still fighting for his life in ICU ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ... please keep praying for him and his family ๐Ÿ™... this just makes me wanna hug my kids tight ๐Ÿค— and never let them go ๐Ÿ˜˜

omg this is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’” the little boy's face in that hospital bed is still haunting me ๐Ÿ˜ญ i'm so glad the mom is sharing her story on social media to spread awareness about child abuse it's not okay what happened to this poor kid and i hope he pulls through his family needs all the love and support right now ๐Ÿ’–

๐Ÿค• this is just terrible... can't believe someone would do something so inhumane to a tiny human being... i mean, i know people are capable of some pretty awful stuff, but come on! ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ what's wrong with us? we need to make sure these kinds of things don't happen to innocent kids. anyway, i'm just glad the kid is getting the help he needs, fingers crossed for his recovery... hopefully this guy gets a good long sentence and doesn't get away with this ๐Ÿ’”

this is just so sad ๐Ÿค•. how can a parent be so cruel to their own child? i mean, i know we've all had our fair share of bad days, but to take it out on someone who's already defenseless like that... it's just heartbreaking.

i feel for the mother too, she's going through hell right now ๐Ÿค•. i'm sending her and the little boy all my positive vibes, hoping they get the help they need. justice will be served, hopefully ๐Ÿ˜Š.

This case is getting a lot of attention... ๐Ÿค” I'm not saying that the dad's actions are okay, but sometimes we gotta think about why people do this kinda stuff. Is it just pure evil or is there something more going on? Maybe Morrison was under some kinda stress, financial or emotional, and he didn't know how to handle it. Or maybe he's got a history of abuse that we don't know about yet. I'm not saying the dad's right, but let's not jump to conclusions just yet... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ this is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ’” no words can even come close to describing how sick this is ๐Ÿ˜ท poor little Dayvon Jr ๐Ÿ‘ฆ he's still fighting for his life in that hospital bed ๐Ÿฅ with all those stitches and gauze on his head ๐Ÿค• it's like, what happened to him? ๐Ÿค” was his dad really that abusive? ๐Ÿ˜ณ 30 yrs old and doin' this to a toddler ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ that's just not right ๐Ÿšซ Morrison might get time in prison but I hope he gets the counseling & help he needs too because clearly, he's got some serious issues to work through ๐Ÿ’” #JusticeForDayvonJr #StopChildAbuse #ProtectOurKids

I donโ€™t usually comment on things like this, but... my heart just broke reading about that poor little boy ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ข. Two years old is way too young to be going through something like this, you know? It's not fair to him or his family at all. I can only imagine how scary and traumatic that experience must have been for him and his mom ๐Ÿ’”.

I don't think we should be wondering what the dad was doing with his son during those days... what matters is that the kid's in critical condition right now ๐Ÿค’, fighting for his life, and it's heartbreaking to see. Doctors saying he might not develop mentally due to the trauma? That's just devastating ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

The mom's posts on social media are just so emotional, you can feel her pain and grief from here ๐Ÿ’•. I hope that little boy gets the help and care he needs ASAP, and that his family finds some way to heal together ๐Ÿ™.

My heart goes out to that little boy and his family ๐Ÿค•. This is just heartbreaking, no need for words at all. The fact that he's fighting for survival, it's just devastating. I hope he gets better soon, send him lots of positive vibes ๐Ÿ™. The parents' desperation is clear in those posts, it's like they're in a nightmare and can't wake up ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. We have to pray that justice is served and the kid gets the best care possible โค๏ธ.

OMG this is literally heartbreaking my heart goes out to that little baby and his mom I'm so glad he's being taken care of at Weill Cornell Medical Center ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’• I can only imagine how scared his mom must be waiting for news about her baby boy fighting for his life ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ‘ถ Please send all positive vibes to the little one and his family during this devastating time ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’–

๐Ÿ˜” this is just heartbreaking... how can someone be so cruel to a defenseless kid? ๐Ÿคฏ at least they got caught now and he'll face justice, but the damage is done... poor little guy's life will never be the same ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ’”

I mean I think we gotta do better for these kids living on the streets... ๐Ÿค• But at the same time, like, if a parent can't take care of their own child, maybe they shouldn't be having one in the first place? It's not like it's always easy being a parent, but... but what about all those resources we got available for families struggling to make ends meet? ๐Ÿค” We should be helping these people, not just tossing them to the wolves. And yet... and yet, I guess it's also kinda hard to blame the parents when they're living in shelters with no adult supervision or support. It's a messed up system, you know? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
