Oakland rolls out speed cameras at 18 locations across city; 60-day warning period underway

Ugh, this automated speed safety camera thingy in Oakland? 🤔 It's just another example of how our cities are slowly turning into surveillance states 🚨. I mean, what's next? Cameras on every street corner watching us 24/7? 🕰️ It feels like we're being babysat by the government and private companies.

And don't even get me started on the warning period 🙄. 60 days? That's just enough time for people to get complacent again and think they can speed without consequences. Newsflash: there are consequences! Fines, tickets, and a whole lot of stress 🤯.

I love how the city is trying to target low-income residents though 🤝. It's about time someone acknowledged that we're the ones who need the most help on our roads 😩. But seriously, can't they just make the speeding limits stricter instead of relying on cameras? 🚗 It feels like a Band-Aid solution at best.

And what's with the vendor Verra Mobility trying to spin this as "tools for behavioral change"? 🤪 Give me a break. We all know the real reason is to generate revenue and line their pockets 💸. Just another example of how our cities are being sold out to the highest bidder 🤑.

Ugh, like this is just another way for the city to try to control everyone's lives 🙄. I mean, what's next? Roadblocks everywhere? And $50 to $500 fines? That's just going to make people desperate enough to get caught speeding in the first place 😒. And don't even get me started on the idea that it's not about revenue generation... yeah right, we all know how that works 🤑. They're just trying to cash in on our mistakes and line their own pockets. The city is just piling more stress and hassle on top of people who are already struggling to make ends meet 💸. Mark my words, this is just another example of the government trying to fix a problem they created in the first place 🤦‍♀️.
