this is just devastating news, I'm still trying to process what happened to Ta'Kiya Young & her unborn daughter... it's just heartbreaking thinking about the life cut short β. the fact that the police officer was acquitted of all charges is just not right . how can we say that justice has been served when a pregnant woman's life was taken by the person sworn to protect her? this is definitely a wake-up call for us as a society, we need to re-examine our policing practices & make sure that officers are properly trained & held accountable . my heart goes out to Ta'Kiya's family & loved ones, I can only imagine how they're feeling right now .
this is just terrible... i cant believe what happened to that mom & her unborn daughter... the fact that the cop got acquitted of all charges is really disheartening its like they're saying its okay to shoot first & ask questions later? and to make matters worse, the prosecutors didnt even prove that the cop knew she was pregnant when he shot her! thats just not right at all
and now the family is gonna have to keep fighting in civil court... its like they're gonna be stuck with no justice for a really long time... i hope something changes & cops get held accountable for their actions
Man this is just heartbreaking... I mean, you got a pregnant black woman who's just trying to make ends meet, and she gets shot by a cop for shoplifting? That's just not right. And now the system's failed her again - dropped those charges for the unborn baby, it's like they didn't even care.
And what really gets me is that the cop's lawyer is trying to spin this like Grubb was in a tough spot and should be let off with minimal consequences... no way . I think he knew she was pregnant, he just didn't want to deal with it. The fact that Grubb cried after the verdict says everything - he's clearly got some serious guilt on his shoulders.
This whole thing is just so messed up . Police training and supervision need a major overhaul, and we need to start holding our law enforcement accountable for their actions. It's not just about the victim, it's about preventing this from happening in the first place.
