Oliver Glasner's inevitable exit compounds one of Crystal Palace's worst ever weeks | Ed Aarons

Glasner's Exit a Final Nail in the Coffin of Palace's Season

Crystal Palace's season has been nothing short of disastrous, and the announcement that Oliver Glasner will be leaving the club at the end of the season seems like the final straw. The Austrian manager, who led the team to their first major trophy by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final nearly eight months ago, has worn his heart on his sleeve throughout the campaign, criticizing the club's lack of investment and urging them not to become "one-hit wonders".

Glasner's departure comes after a run of nine games without a win that has seen Palace plummet down the table. The team is lacking confidence and resources, making it difficult to see how they can mount a successful challenge under their next manager.

The most pressing question on everyone's mind is who will take over from Glasner. The club has been linked with several potential candidates, including Getafe's José Bordalás and Rayo Vallecano's Iñigo Pérez. However, it remains to be seen whether any of these individuals can inspire a turnaround in Palace's fortunes.

Glasner's own future is also shrouded in uncertainty, with rumors that he may be set to join Manchester United or another top club. While his departure from Palace has been a disaster for the team, it seems unlikely to be the end of Glasner's managerial career.

The situation at Crystal Palace is far from clear-cut, but one thing is certain - their season will never be forgotten.

OMG u guys 🤯 palaces season has been SO sad!!! i feel so bad 4 oliver glasner he led the team to that FA cup final & now he's leaving @ the end of the season 🙈 poor guy he was really passionate about the club & wanted them 2 succeed so much 💖

omg, can u believe this season has gone so downhill 🤯?! i mean, palace had such high hopes after winning that fa cup and all oliver glasner was doing was speaking truth to power about the lack of investment... poor guy ended up getting canned 🚫. but like, what's gonna happen next at the club? jose bordalás or inigo pérez sound like decent options? maybe palace should just focus on rebuilding rather than trying to become a top 4 team again 🤔. and omg glasner might be joining man utd?! that would be wild 😲!

🤔 I think the real issue here is that Palace is getting stuck with whoever can give them a paycheck and not rock the boat too much. Like, they need someone who's gonna just keep things as they are, you know? Not shake things up or make waves... that's just not what this team needs right now. And honestly, I'm kinda surprised they're even making an effort to find a new manager after Glasner's departure 🤷‍♂️. It feels like it's all just a PR stunt at this point.

I feel bad for Olly Glasner 🤕 he's been vocal about the club not investing enough in the team and I think that's a valid point... like, who invests money in a football club without getting something back? 💸 it's not like Palace was going to win the league this season anyway. The pressure must be on the new gaffer to turn things around, but if anyone can do it, it's Iñigo Pérez 🤞 he seems like a decent manager and all... don't count out José Bordalás either, Getafe are doing alright so yeah, let's give these guys a chance 😊

can't believe they're letting him go after all he did for that fa cup win 😱 palace needs to stop making rash decisions and take a long hard look at their strategy 💔glasner was the right man for this job, now who's gonna turn it around? 🤷‍♂️ maybe they should've stuck with him or hired someone from within the club 👀 Bordalás sounds like a decent option tho, fingers crossed he can work his magic ✨

I'm so over this season already 🤦‍♂️. It feels like every manager who comes in leaves with their head hung low. Remember when Alan Pardew took over back in 2015? He was all fired up, same as Glasner. He wanted to turn the team around and make Palace relevant again. But, just like now, it didn't quite work out 🤔.

And don't even get me started on the transfer situation. It's like the club is waiting for a miracle to happen. When was the last time they signed a decent player? Back in the day, they used to bring in some big names and make a splash 💥. Nowadays, it feels like they're just trying to fill gaps without making a real impact.

Glasner may be leaving, but I'm sure he'll bounce back from this and find another team that wants him 🙌. And who knows, maybe Palace will learn from their mistakes and come back stronger next season...but history says otherwise 😒.

ugh palace is just falling apart 🤦‍♂️, first they lose all their big players and now oliver glasner is leaving... i mean he was right to speak truth to power tho, the club has been getting a bit too comfy with its mediocre performances 🙄. whoever takes over next gotta bring some real change, not just slap a new coat of paint on the same old team 👎.

i feel for glasner, he went in there with big ambitions and it's sad to see it all fall apart... but hey maybe this is an opportunity for him to rebuild his rep elsewhere? 🤔. palace fans are gonna have a tough time moving on from this season tho 💔, 9 games without a win is just brutal.

anyway, fingers crossed whoever takes over can get the team firing on all cylinders again ⚡️. gotta feel bad for glasner, though...

I'm so disappointed with how things are going down at Crystal Palace this season 😞. I mean, they had such high hopes after winning the FA Cup and all, but it's just been a downward spiral since then. Glasner's comments about not getting enough investment were spot on, imo 👎. The club needs to sort out its financials if they want to compete with the big boys.

And I gotta say, I'm curious who'll take over as manager now 🤔. José Bordalás or Iñigo Pérez might be good options, but we'll see how that plays out ⚔️. The important thing is for Palace to get their house in order and start making some smart moves behind the scenes 💼.

Glasner's future is anyone's guess, but I hope he lands on his feet 🤞. Whoever takes over at Palace, they're gonna have a tough road ahead of them 😬. Fingers crossed it'll be a more successful season next year! 👍

I think this is actually a good opportunity for Crystal Palace to refresh their coaching staff and bring in some new energy 🌞. Losing a manager can be tough, but it's also a chance to rebuild and start again from scratch. I mean, they've already shown that they can do something amazing by winning the FA Cup, so why not try something different now? 💪 The fact that Oliver Glasner is still in demand means he must have done something right, so who knows, maybe one of the new managers will bring a similar spark to the team 🔥. And let's be real, Palace fans are a dedicated bunch, they'll support whoever they choose as long as it's someone who cares about the team and wants to make them proud 😊.

I mean come on, who's gonna take over at Palace now? They're like the laughing stock of the league 🤣. I don't see any of those coaches they're linking with being able to turn it around. Bordalás and Pérez are basically journeymen managers trying to cling to relevancy. And what about Glasner leaving for Man U? Like, who wouldn't want to jump ship from a sinking ship like Palace? 🤦‍♂️ The team's lack of investment is so transparent it's laughable. They're gonna get the same old bottom-feeding manager they always do and just pretend everything's fine... meanwhile Palace will be stuck in mediocrity forever 😒

I'm not surprised about this... I mean, it's been going downhill since the beginning of the season 🤦‍♂️. The club's investment in the team has been lacking and they've been relying too much on one player to perform miracles. It's no wonder they've lost momentum and confidence 📉. And now, with Glasner leaving, it's like they're throwing in the towel already 💔. I don't think any of those potential managers can turn things around that quickly... they'll probably just make things worse 😒. And yeah, it's probably a done deal for Glasner to join one of the top clubs... he's not exactly hiding his intentions 🤑. The only silver lining is that Palace will never be able to say they didn't try hard under a new manager 😅.
