Oliver Glasner's inevitable exit compounds one of Crystal Palace's worst ever weeks | Ed Aarons

Glasner's Departure Leaves Palace in Crisis

Crystal Palace is reeling from the news that manager Oliver Glasner has announced his departure at the end of the season. The 46-year-old, who led the club to their first major trophy by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final just over eight months ago, revealed he had informed the chairman Steve Parish of his decision back in October.

Glasner's parting shot was aimed squarely at Palace's owners for failing to invest in the squad after a record-breaking summer. He lamented that the club lacked the resources needed to sustain European campaigns and satisfy their ambitious manager. The Austrian's frustration with the situation was evident as he stated his hope that the departure would inspire a "turnaround" in fortune.

However, Glasner's exit marks the latest in a series of high-profile departures at Palace. France striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has 18 months left on his contract and is wanted by Juventus, while Adam Wharton, Daniel Muñoz, and Daichi Kamada are also coveted by bigger clubs.

The club's future now hangs precariously in the balance. With their next manager to be appointed, Palace faces an uphill battle to get back on track after a dismal run of nine games without a win. The departure of Glasner, who achieved significant success during his tenure, has left fans wondering what could have been done differently.

Glasner's own future is uncertain, but it's clear that he will be tempted by other top-flight clubs. Given his impressive track record in south London and ability to deliver results, it won't be long before he receives interest from bigger clubs looking for a manager with his credentials. One place on his radar could be Manchester United, where he would relish the opportunity to test himself against some of the best teams in the world.

For Palace, however, the only thing that's certain is that they must act swiftly to address their current crisis. The appointment of a new manager and significant investment are now crucial if they hope to avoid relegation and restore their status as a top-flight team.

omg i cant believe what just happened at crystal palace 🤯 the guy who led them to the fa cup final was saying out loud that the owners didnt invest enough in the squad lol like, come on steve parish 🙄 but seriously this is bad news for the team and their fans they gotta find a new manager ASAP or else its gonna be a long season 🕰️ i heard manchester united are sniffing around oliver glasner though thats not good news for palace 😬 hopefully someone will come in and fix everything 💪

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s crazy how one player can have so much influence on the whole club 😲. Glasner seems like a really dedicated guy who wanted to take Palace to the next level, but it's clear that the owners weren't willing to back him up 💸. Now he's off, and Palace is left wondering what could've been done differently 🤔. I'm curious to see how they handle this situation, because if they don't make some serious changes, it's gonna be tough for them to stay up ⬇️.

idk man... Glasner was doin pretty well at Palace, but then again... I mean, he did complain about the owners not investin enough in the squad, so maybe that's on him too? 🤔 his parting shot was lowkey aimed at himself for not makin more of the resources they gave him. still, it's a shame he's goin, 'cause i loved watchin him play against city in the FA Cup final 💥 but now palace is in crisis mode, and i'm not sure if anythin can fix it... maybe they need someone with fresh eyes to take over? 🤷‍♂️

man, this is a tough one for palace fans 🤕...glasner's departure does feel like a massive blow, especially after everything he achieved with the team...i can see why he'd be frustrated about not getting more backing from the owners, it does seem like they've been holding back on investments 💸

but, gotta say, i'm kinda curious to see what'll happen next 🤔...will palace get the right manager in place? will they finally get the investment needed to compete with the big boys? it's gonna be a long and uncertain road ahead 🚨

anyway, my money's on manchester united trying to snag glasner 📈...he'd definitely be a great fit for old trafford, especially given his track record at palace 💪

omg i cant even believe this happened 🤯 the guy did so much for crystal palace and now hes just gone i mean like 8 months ago he led them all the way to the fa cup final and now theyre in crisis mode again its sad to see him go especially after he spoke up about the club not investing enough in the squad 😔

im sure theres gonna be a lot of drama surrounding his departure from manchester united wouldve been awesome to see him take on the big boys but i guess thats just not meant to be now palace has got their work cut out for them if they wanna get back on track and avoid relegation

Ugh, I'm low-key concerned about Crystal Palace's future 🤕. Losing Oliver Glasner is like losing a piece of the team's soul. I get why he left, but it feels like the club's owners are prioritizing profits over progress 🤑. They need to seriously step up their investment game and give the manager some real backing if they want to compete with bigger clubs. The fact that top clubs are sniffing around for Glasner is a clear indication that Palace needs an overhaul 👀. I'm keeping an eye on them, hoping they can turn things around before it's too late 😬. The FA Cup final win was awesome, but it feels like a one-off victory now 🏆. Time to make some serious changes at Selhurst Park 💪

🤔 this is crazy what happened with glasner 🤯 he was doing so well leading the team to that fa cup final win just 8 months ago & now hes gone 👋 its like palace just gave up on themselves? 💔 the fans are gonna be super disappointed trust me ill still root for them but come on ppl we need a solid manager ASAP 💪

🤔 So I'm reading this about Glasner leaving Crystal Palace and all I can think is what's going on with the owners? They're supposed to be investing in the squad but instead we're seeing players get sold to bigger clubs left and right 🤑 Like, where's the money going?! And now that Glasner's gone, I'm worried about Palace's chances of staying up. It's like they're not even trying to compete anymore 😒 I need to see some numbers or reports on what the owners have been spending before we can have any real conversation about the team's future 💸
