Philly Bierfest returns Feb. 28 with German-style beer, food and live music

Philly's Bierfest Returns with 13 Years of German-Style Beer and Culture

The annual event is set to kick off on February 28, bringing a taste of authentic Germany to the historic German Society of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Over two connected buildings and six floors, more than 20 local breweries will gather to showcase their lager-brewed beers, alongside imports from Germany and other European regions.

Festival-goers can expect an array of German-style brews, including pilsners, dunkels, kΓΆlsches, altbiers, weizens, bocks, doppelbocks, and rauchbiers. The PA Beer Hall will feature a selection of beers brewed under Germany's Reinheitsgebot purity law, which limits ingredients to malt, hops, yeast, and water.

Attendees can immerse themselves in the event by moving between themed spaces, including indoor gathering areas and a winter biergarten, while sampling pours and grabbing food. The venue will also offer traditional German fare throughout.

In addition to the beer, Philly Bierfest will feature live music performances, games, and competitions throughout the afternoon. Expect Philbilly music from T.C. Cole and his crew, oompah-funk sounds, and traditional Bavarian-style Schuhplattler dancers. Beer-themed contests like arm-wrestling and stein-holding are also part of the activities.

Philly Roller Derby athletes will be in attendance, and attendees can expect to see plenty of traditional German attire mixed in throughout the day.

Tickets for Philly Bierfest are available in three tiers: Beer Lover tickets ($59), VIP Beer Lover tickets ($79 with early entry), and VIP Plus Beer Lover tickets ($99 with a guided beer seminar). All proceeds from the event will support local organizations, including the German Society of Pennsylvania, Philly Roller Derby, and the Brewers of Pennsylvania.

πŸΊπŸŽ‰ Omg, I'm so stoked about Philly Bierfest this year!!! 13 years in the making and they're finally bringing that authentic German beer culture to the city! πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ I've been to a few Bierfests before, but there's something about the atmosphere that just gets me every time - from the traditional German food to the live music and games. And can we talk about the beers?! 🀯 Pilsners, dunkels, kΓΆlsches... my fave! What I love most is that they're supporting local organizations too. Gonna grab those VIP tickets for a guided beer seminar, anyone? πŸ’Έ

🍺 I'm so down for this Bierfest! It's always amazing to see how they bring together all those different breweries and let us experience the rich history behind German brewing 🀩. And can you imagine sipping on a proper altbier or doppelbock while enjoying some traditional Bavarian dancing? 🎢🍺 My grandkids are getting older now, but I'd love to take them there with me one day and share my own memories of German festivals from back in the day. I'm sure it'll be just as much fun for them!

I don’t usually comment but I had to say something about this festival - it sounds like so much fun πŸŽ‰! 13 years is a long time to be hosting an event like this, and I'm impressed that they've got over 20 local breweries and imports from Germany on board. And the fact that they're showcasing beers brewed under the Reinheitsgebot purity law is really cool - it's like a little taste of authentic Germany right here in Philly.

I don't drink beer myself (more of a soda kinda guy πŸ˜‚), but I can appreciate the culture and tradition behind it, especially with all the live music and food options. And who wouldn't want to see some traditional Bavarian-style Schuhplattler dancers dancing around? The whole vibe sounds super lively and welcoming - I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for this event next year!

Wow πŸΊπŸŽ‰ Interesting that they have 6 floors to explore! I'm sure it's gonna be lit for those who love craft beer 🀩 And having a winter biergarten sounds like a super cool spot to chill with friends 😎 Plus, arm-wrestling and stein-holding contests? That sounds like so much fun πŸ€ͺ

Can't wait to try some pilsners, dunkels, and altbiers from the local breweries and imports. The PA Beer Hall will save me, though - Reinheitsgebot purity law = no artificial stuff for me πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ! And those traditional German dishes? Fuhgeddaboutit! 🀀 Schuhplattler dancers in Philly? That's a first 🎸. See you there with my beer-loving crew πŸ‘«!
