Post your questions for the Cardigans' Nina Persson

The Cardigans, Sweden's most enduring pop outfit, are back with a bang. After over three decades of crafting infectious guitar melodies and sassy vocals, frontwoman Nina Persson is ready to open up about her life and music.

Persson's unique sound instantly set the band apart from their 90s peers. With their debut album Life (1995), they brought a sophisticated lounge-pop vibe, sprinkled with bossa nova and disco flourishes, which stood in stark contrast to the more raw Britpop and rave culture prevalent at the time. Persson's vocals, characterized by a girlish yet worn quality, infused her songs with drama and emotion.

The band's breakthrough came with their 1996 album First Band on the Moon, which featured their first major hit, 'Lovefool.' This catchy tune cleverly reimagined Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes' on-screen romance as a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet. The song has endured, boasting over a billion plays on Spotify.

Persson's subsequent solo endeavors, including collaborations with Tom Jones on Talking Heads' 'Burning Down the House,' showcase her versatility and willingness to experiment. Her work with Manic Street Preachers and James Yorkston demonstrates her ability to forge meaningful partnerships both musically and vocally.

Although Persson has ruled out releasing new music as part of The Cardigans, she has been actively touring and performing with the band on select occasions since their 2012 reunion. On the horizon is their upcoming UK gig at London's Eventim Apollo on June 27th. Fans eager to learn more about her life and creative process can submit their questions before February 2nd, and Persson will share her insights in an exclusive interview published in our Film & Music section on February 6th.
