Premier League's warped economics make £65m fee for Semenyo a snip | Jonathan Wilson

I mean, what's up with all these huge transfer fees lately? It's like people are throwing cash around just because they can 🤑. I'm not saying Semenyo isn't worth it, but £65 million is a pretty big ask for someone who might still be finding their feet in the Premier League. And don't even get me started on how undervalued players from smaller clubs always seem to be 💸.

I think Manchester City's transfer deal for Antoine Semenyo is defo a bit sus 🤔. £65 million seems like a lot of dosh, especially considering how little hype it's generated. I mean, yeah, Semenyo's got skills and all that, but he's not exactly the next Erling Haaland or anything 😅. And comparing him to Nordi Mukiele is like apples and oranges - they're not similar players at all! 🍎🍊

It's also worth noting that big-money strikers just aren't as effective as they used to be. I mean, think about it - teams are signing these superstars but struggling to get them to score goals consistently. It's like they're trying to fit a square peg into a round hole 🤯.

Anyway, only time will tell if Semenyo is worth the £65 million tag. But for now, I'm just gonna keep an eye on it and see how things play out 👀

🤔 I just had the craziest dream last night... I was at this beach with my grandma, and we were making these enormous sandcastles together. Suddenly, a huge wave came crashing in and washed them all away! We laughed and started building again, but then I remembered that I left my favorite sandwich on the table back home 🍞😂

anyway, back to football... what's up with the transfer fees? It feels like they're getting more and more ridiculous. I mean, who needs £65 million for a striker when you can get a decent player for, like, 10-15 million? Just saying...

🤔 I mean, I get why people are scratching their heads about Semenyo's transfer deal, it's a big chunk of change for a striker who doesn't seem to be on everyone's radar. But at the same time, £65 million is still a pretty standard price tag for a player with his skillset and experience. Maybe City just really value him? 🤷‍♂️ I think what's wild is how much attention the transfer market gets now - it feels like you can't escape talking about every big deal that goes down, no matter how big or small the player is.

lol what's all the fuss about this transfer deal? £65 mil for Antoine Semenyo is literally peanuts. I mean, have you seen the prices they're charging for those 'high-profile players' like Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden? City should've gone even bigger, not played it safe on a player who might still develop into something good. The fact that he's only 25 and has four-and-a-half years left on his contract just makes me think they got a bargain. People are too quick to jump onto the 'bargain' bandwagon without thinking about the market value and what City actually expects from Semenyo.
