Ugh I'm literally shaking thinking about how messed up the Met's internal culture is
. I mean I've been following this whole thing and it's just so frustrating. Like Diane Vincent said we need to do better than this, but what does that even look like? Are they gonna have some kind of diversity training or something?
And what about actual consequences for people who perpetuate racism? My friend's cousin is a police officer and she's always talking about how tough it is to speak up against their colleagues. It's wild.
I don't know, maybe I'm just being too cynical, but I think the Met's just trying to check off some boxes without actually making any real changes. Like they're all "oh look we have a diversity and inclusion department now" but what about actual action?
My mom is actually worried about her friends who work in the NHS because she heard that there's racism going on too. It's so sad.
I don't know, I just feel like we need to do better as a society. We can't keep sweeping racism under the rug and expecting everything to be okay.
