Racism tribunal claims by Met police officers and staff doubled last year

Ugh I'm literally shaking thinking about how messed up the Met's internal culture is 🤯. I mean I've been following this whole thing and it's just so frustrating. Like Diane Vincent said we need to do better than this, but what does that even look like? Are they gonna have some kind of diversity training or something? 🤔 And what about actual consequences for people who perpetuate racism? My friend's cousin is a police officer and she's always talking about how tough it is to speak up against their colleagues. It's wild.

I don't know, maybe I'm just being too cynical, but I think the Met's just trying to check off some boxes without actually making any real changes. Like they're all "oh look we have a diversity and inclusion department now" but what about actual action? 🤑 My mom is actually worried about her friends who work in the NHS because she heard that there's racism going on too. It's so sad.

I don't know, I just feel like we need to do better as a society. We can't keep sweeping racism under the rug and expecting everything to be okay. 😔

can't believe what's going on at the Met 🤕... it seems like no matter how many times they promise change, it's still not happening 🚫. I mean, doubling the number of racism claims is a huge deal, and it's crazy that most cases end in withdrawals or judgments in favor of the force 🙄. it's like they're trying to sweep this under the rug 🧹.

I'm all for reforming internal culture and tackling systemic issues, but come on 🤦‍♂️... how many times do we need to see the same promises being made before actual change happens? 🔥 I think what Diane Vincent said is spot on - if they want to build trust with their community, they need to take real action 💪. no more lip service 👅... it's time for concrete steps towards change 🔄.
