Rangers need Alexis Lafreniere to be better than a ‘mixed bag’

Rangers Need Alexis Lafrenière to Step Up His Game

Alexis Lafrenière's performance for the New York Rangers has been a mixed bag so far this season. The 24-year-old left winger has shown flashes of brilliance, but his overall play has been inconsistent, leaving coach Mike Sullivan frustrated.

Lafrenière's statistics suggest that he's been creating chances and taking shots, but his finish has been lacking. He ranks second on the team in expected goals share during five-on-five play (61.10) and is tied for third on the team in high-danger chances with 13. However, his lack of accuracy has cost his team dearly.

Defensively, Lafrenière has struggled, sitting third on the team in goals against during five-on-five play (7). He's also been on the ice for seven five-on-five goals against, a number that would put him second on the team if it weren't tied with Mika Zibanejad.

Sullivan acknowledged that Lafrenière has had strong games, but his overall production hasn't met expectations. The coach emphasized that Lafrenière needs to focus on playing the game the right way and creating opportunities through his work ethic rather than relying solely on his talent.

The Rangers' power play unit has been effective lately, going three-for-three on Tuesday night and fending off all six of their power plays in the last two games. The team's penalty kill is also strong, with an 88.9% mark on the road this season.

Lafrenière will need to take his game up a notch if he wants to contribute more to his team's success. With improved play from him and other key players, the Rangers may finally start to find consistency in their overall performance.

🤔 Lafrenière needs to step it up, stat! 📊 His stats are solid but his finish is sketchy 🤦‍♂️. Needs to focus on work ethic over talent 💪. Can't rely on talent alone, gotta put in the yards 🏃‍♂️.

I mean, think about it... Lafrenière's gotta step up, but is it just about individual effort? What does that even mean for a player like him, who's got this incredible talent but also has some major flaws? Is it really just about his work ethic? It feels like there's more to it than that. Like, what are the systemic issues here? Are they passing down enough support to him from his teammates or the coaching staff? I mean, we hear they're playing well as a unit, but Lafrenière's out there by himself, trying to carry the load... does that put too much pressure on him?

🤔 I don't get why ppl are so hard on Lafrenière 😕 He's still 24 and gotta find his rhythm, ya know? I mean, he's been makin' some great plays out there, but accuracy is key, right? Can't just rely on talent alone 🤷‍♂️ Still, coach Sullivan's advice to work harder makes sense. Maybe we'll see a better Lafrenière soon 💪

🤣 I mean, Lafrenière's stats are like that one aunt at the family reunion – all the hype, but sometimes you're like "um, where's the cake?" 🍰😂 He needs to step up his game, for real! But seriously, coaches gotta keep it real, right? "Play the game the right way" is code for "stop being a superstar and start being a team player, Alexis!" 😜 The Rangers need him to bring that consistency, or else they'll be stuck in neutral like my old Prius 🚗💨.

🤔 I mean, what's new with Lafrenière? He's like that one friend who always shows up late to the party but still manages to have fun 🎉. One minute he's a total rockstar, next minute... crickets 😴. I guess coach Sullivan wants him to work on his "game face" 🤯. I'm not saying it's all Lafrenière's fault, but come on, a left winger in the NHL? That's like expecting me to cook dinner and do laundry at the same time 🍳👕. The team needs some consistency, so let's hope Lafrenière gets his act together 💪... or maybe just sticks to playing himself, you know, the "Alexis Lafrenière" show 🎬.

idk what's going on with Lafrenière lately 🤔. one day he's on fire, next he's not even close 😐. coach Sullivan's right tho, he needs to focus on his work ethic rather than relying on his natural talent 💪. team's power play unit has been doing alright tho ⚡️. but if Lafrenière can step up his game and be more accurate with those shots, i think the rangers will start to see some real consistency 🔁. it's not that hard, just needs to put in the effort 🙏.

🤔 Alexis Lafrenière needs to step up his game for real 🚀. His stats say he's been creating chances, but like, what's the point if you're not finishing them? 😐 He's got some good games under his belt, but coach Sullivan is right - it's time to focus on playing smart and working hard, not just relying on talent. 💪 And let's be real, 7 goals against in five-on-five play isn't great either 🙅‍♂️. The Rangers need all their players to bring their A-game if they wanna be a top team 🔥
