'Reckless and distressing': Allston Car Wash responds to BU student taking credit for ICE raid

Local Car Wash Outraged by BU Student's Claim of Publicly Reporting Employees to ICE Without Knowing Them.

An Allston car wash has fired back at a Boston University student who took credit for reporting nine employees to federal immigration officials, saying his actions were "reckless and distressing".

The student, Zac Segel, the president of BU College Republicans, posted on X about the November 4 ICE raid, claiming he had notified authorities about illegal activity in the community. However, Segal never contacted the business or spoke with management, according to an official statement.

Segelโ€™s post has garnered nearly a million views, but some at BU have condemned his actions as hurtful and insensitive. The women of BU College Republicans disavowed his statement, calling for him to be removed from their organization's board.

Meanwhile, Allston Car Wash is defending its employees, who were detained by ICE agents without giving them time to retrieve their work permits. The car wash described the ICE raid as an attempt to "publicly label our workforce as 'criminals' without any knowledge of who they are".

man this whole thing got me thinking... what's the value of speaking out when we don't really know what we're talking about? Segel, he was trying to do good but ended up stirring up trouble and hurting people in the process... does that make sense? like, if we're gonna call attention to something we gotta be willing to put in the work to understand it first. otherwise it's just noise ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ก

I mean I'm not surprised that Zac Segel is getting roasted for this one... like, he just took credit for reporting people to ICE without even knowing them? That's some serious BS. I guess you could say his actions were reckless and hurtful to the actual employees affected by the raid. I feel bad for those 9 people who got detained because of Segel's careless post. It's not right that they had to deal with all that stress and uncertainty just because someone decided to stir up drama on X...

OMG, I'm so upset about this ๐Ÿคฏ! Like, Zac Segel thinks it's okay to just go around reporting people to ICE without even knowing them? That's some serious bad juju ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. He's putting lives at risk and causing stress to people who are just trying to make a living. The car wash is right, he was reckless and hurtful ๐Ÿ’”. I don't get why he thought it was a good idea to do that. Like, what if he messed up the person's immigration status or something? That would be a disaster ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ. And now allston car wash is getting slammed for having employees who might be undocumented... like, it's not their fault, right? They're just trying to make ends meet ๐Ÿ’ธ. Zac Segel needs to think about how his actions are affecting people, you know?

I don't think Zac Segel's actions were that bad, ๐Ÿค”... I mean, I get why some people at BU are upset, but he just wanted to report something he thought was suspicious. The problem is how it was executed - not by him, but by the car wash for firing those employees ๐Ÿ˜•. It's one thing to report someone who's breaking the law, another to publicly shame an entire community without even knowing them ๐Ÿ‘ฅ. Maybe Segel could've done things differently, but at least he tried to do something ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Let's not forget that these workers are just trying to make a living ๐Ÿ’ธ... we should be supporting them, not shaming them ๐Ÿ˜Š.

OMG, this whole thing is just wild ๐Ÿคฏ! Like, I get that Zac Segel was trying to stand up for something, but reporting employees to ICE without even talking to them first? That's just not cool ๐Ÿ˜•. The car wash has every right to be outraged - I mean, who wants their employees to be unfairly detained like that? ๐Ÿšซ. And what's with this "publicly labeling our workforce as 'criminals'" thing? Like, no one deserves that kind of treatment ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Segel's actions were clearly reckless and hurtful, and he needs to own up to them ๐Ÿ‘Š. The fact that his post has gotten so much attention, though, is actually kinda scary for employees who might feel like they're living in fear now ๐Ÿ˜ณ. We need to be more mindful of how our words can impact others before we share them online ๐Ÿ’ฌ.

I'm so tired of these entitled kids thinkin' they can just do whatever and expect everyone else to clean up after 'em ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. This guy, Zac Segel, is all over X with this story about "exposin'" the car wash employees to ICE, but really he's just causin' a ruckus and hurtin' people's lives ๐Ÿšซ. I mean, what if one of those employees was a single mom tryin' to provide for her kids? The least they deserve is some respect and due process before they get dragged in front of immigration authorities ๐Ÿค.

And what really gets my goat is that this kid think he's some kinda hero just 'cause he clicked a few buttons on X ๐Ÿ˜’. Newsflash, buddy: if you don't know the people involved, you shouldn't be tryin' to take credit for their misfortunes ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. And now this car wash is gettin' roasted for doin' their job, and I'm like... can we just focus on supportin' our own instead of tearin' others down? ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿค• I'm so concerned about what's going on here. Zac Segel, the BU student who claimed he reported employees to ICE without even talking to them first... that's just not right. ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ He was trying to gain some points for himself and his party, but honestly it looks like a total misstep. I can imagine how scary and stressful it must've been for those employees to get detained like that. We need to be more careful about what we share online and make sure we're not hurting people's feelings or reputations unnecessarily ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

omg u guys i cant even... Zac Segel is literally a nightmare ๐Ÿคฏ he's trying to pass off being some kinda hero for reporting ppl to ICE without even knowing them, but really hes just a reckless bully ๐Ÿšซ. like, what even is his problem? does he have no concept of how hurtful that can be? and btw, if he was so concerned about immigration issues why didnt he even bother talking to the car wash owners or managers first? ๐Ÿค” it just seems like a huge cry for attention... and honestly its kinda sad that hes using this as an excuse to get all these views on X ๐Ÿ’”. anyway, i'm totally with the Allston Car Wash - those employees are innocent and dont deserve to be labeled as "criminals" just because of their immigration status ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

idk how Zac Segel expected people to react when he just posted online about reporting ppl to ICE without even contacting the business first ๐Ÿคฏ. it's wild that his "heroic" act got nearly a million views, but most of those comments were probably just trolls or people trying to get attention ๐Ÿ™„. meanwhile, the car wash is having none of it and I'm teaming with them ๐Ÿ‘. what if these employees had families counting on their jobs? this guy's actions could've caused real harm ๐Ÿ’”. someone should really fact-check before making a social media post ๐Ÿ“Š

I saw this story and I gotta say, that dude Zac Segel is straight up reckless! He's trying to take credit for reporting people to ICE without even knowing them or talking to the car wash staff. Like what kinda hero does that? And now he's getting some backlash from his own org, so I guess karma's a good thing. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I feel bad for the employees who got detained without warning, though - that's just not cool. It's one thing to report something, but you gotta have respect for people's lives and livelihoods. This whole thing's just a mess... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐Ÿ˜• Oh man, that's crazy! I can imagine how scary it must be for those employees who got detained in the middle of their shift. It's not right that someone would take credit for reporting them to ICE like that. Zac Segel should really think about the impact his words had on people's lives. ๐Ÿคฏ And what's with this 'publicly labeling our workforce as "criminals"' thing? That sounds super hurtful and unfair. ๐Ÿ˜ก I hope those employees are able to get their work permits sorted out and can get back to their jobs soon.

๐Ÿ˜’ I'm telling ya, this whole thing is fishy. Zac Segel's trying to spin this like he's some kind of hero, but really he's just stirring up drama and putting innocent people in harm's way. I mean, can you imagine if the tables were turned? If someone reported you to ICE without even knowing who they are, wouldn't that be super hurtful and unprofessional? ๐Ÿค”

And what's with this all these views on X? It's like everyone's just jumping on the bandwagon because it's a juicy controversy. But let's not forget, there were people's lives affected here - people who didn't even have time to grab their work permits before being whisked away by ICE agents. That's some serious collateral damage, if you ask me.

Something fishy is going on with this whole story... I just got a bad vibe from it. ๐Ÿค”

I'm so with Zac Segel on this one ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ, if he's reporting potential illegal activity to authorities, why should anyone be surprised? ICE raiding a car wash in the middle of nowhere doesn't exactly scream "community service"... it's just a bunch of people getting swept up in a big mess. And honestly, who knows what these employees are even doing there? Segel's got some guts for calling out this reckless ICE move, might be time we saw some real accountability from the powers that be ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

omg i cant even believe this dude Zac Segel he's like literally just thrown his friends under the bus like, he never even spoke to the people whose info he was sharing and now the car wash is all upset about it lol what a weirdo also btw i feel bad for the ppl who got detained without being able to grab their papers i hope they're doing okay ๐Ÿค•

This guy Zac Segel thinks he's some kinda hero for reporting a bunch of people to ICE without even knowing them ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Like, what's the next step? He just gonna start playing detective and decide who's a "criminal" just because they're from a certain country or have the wrong visa? Newsflash Zac: that's not how it works! The car wash is right, he was reckless and distressing to those employees ๐Ÿšซ. And what's up with this whole "publicly reporting people" thing? Is he trying to be some kinda vigilante? ๐Ÿš” I mean, I get it, he wanted to sound cool posting on X about being a hero, but honestly, it just came across as desperate and attention-seeking ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. The BU College Republicans should totally boot him from their board for this one ๐Ÿ‘‹.

omg this guy Zac Segel is literally a trainwreck ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ i mean what even happens here? someone gets detained by ice and then you just publicly report their coworkers to the authorities without even knowing them?! that's just low, like seriously what kind of dude does that? ๐Ÿ˜’ and now everyone at bu is talking about how hurtful and insensitive it was... like, yeah no kidding ๐Ÿ‘Ž

omg u no i cant bleeve this guy Zac Segel 1 mil views and ppl r still defendin him?? its literally just a bunch of BS he never even talked to the car wash owners or employees n yet he's claimin they r "criminals" lol what kinda drama does that make? i think hes tryna get some kinda brownie points with ICE but instead hes just messin up ppl lives ๐Ÿ™„

๐Ÿ˜ฉ this whole thing has me shook... i mean Zac Segel's actions seem super misguided, reporting ppl to ICE without even knowing them is just reckless and hurtful ๐Ÿค•. like what if those employees were innocent? or had legit visa issues? ๐Ÿค” and meanwhile the car wash is trying to defend their employees' rights ๐Ÿ™Œ. i get why they're upset but isn't Segel's post kinda spreading fear and uncertainty in that community? ๐Ÿšซ it's all about being responsible with info, guys... just a thought ๐Ÿ’ก

I'm shocked ๐Ÿ˜ฒ that Zac Segel is getting away with this ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ... I mean, he's clearly got a lot of followers, but shouldn't people be more careful before jumping into a situation like that? ๐Ÿ˜” Like, what if the employees didn't even have any issues? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ The car wash seems pretty reasonable in defending themselves, though ๐Ÿ™Œ. It's just crazy how quickly social media can go viral and make someone look bad ๐Ÿ‘€... anyway, I don't think Segel should be getting all that credit for something he wasn't even involved in ๐Ÿ˜’.
