Republicans attack ‘woke’ Netflix — and ignore YouTube

I'm literally so frustrated with this whole thing ... It's like, can't they see that YouTube is like a Wild West for crazy content creators who just don't care about pushing some agendas? Meanwhile Netflix is trying to be responsible and follow the rules, but Republicans are still all about it . I mean, if they're so concerned about "transgender ideology" on Netflix, why aren't they checking out YouTube's own shenanigans? It's like, basic math skills here... You gotta weigh in on both sides of the platform . And btw, what even is the point of having a hearing if they're just gonna be all performative and not actually do anything about it?

They pick on Netflix for being "woke" but conveniently ignore YouTube's own issues with, I don't know, promoting hate speech or whatever. And meanwhile, the real issue is that there needs to be better regulation and oversight on platforms like YouTube. It's not about picking on one company or another, it's about making sure we're all held accountable for the impact our online content can have.

And let's be real, Netflix isn't perfect, but at least they're trying to set a standard for what's acceptable in kids' content. I mean, who gets to decide what's "woke" and what's not? It seems like some people just want to virtue signal without actually doing anything about the bigger problem.

It's time for lawmakers to get real and take a closer look at YouTube's content. Let them have their Shorts and their algorithm-driven drama, but let's not forget that we need to hold ourselves accountable as creators and consumers of online content

I'm just not getting it . Why are they making a big deal about Netflix while ignoring YouTube? I mean, that place is like a wild west of crazy content . And what's with the numbers - Hawley claims half their kids' shows promote trans ideologies, but where's his beef with YouTube?
