Revealed: Myanmar junta 'crony' given key role behind Fifa peace prize

Just saw this news about the new FIFA peace prize and I'm thinking... how can you just hand out a major award without being transparent about who's behind it? I mean, someone like Zaw Zaw, who has connections to the Myanmar military junta, is involved in the selection process? It raises some serious red flags. Can't we do better than this?

I'm like super concerned about this new peace prize thingy from FIFA... it feels kinda fishy how they just threw it out there without even telling us who's on the shortlist? It's all very mysterious and it smells like a Trump-sized favor

And then you find out that some dude named Zaw Zaw is basically running the whole thing from behind the scenes with his connections to Myanmar's military junta and all... it's not exactly inspiring especially when you think about how FIFA supposedly champions human rights and stuff

I mean, I'm all for recognising achievements in peace-making and whatnot, but if the selection process is that opaque and influenced by some shady characters then it just doesn't sit right with me
