Review: New Edition shows why they still wear the crown as kings of R&B

The New Edition Way Tour has finally arrived, and it's clear why they still reign supreme as the kings of R&B. For over three hours, the legendary group delivered an electrifying performance at the United Center in Chicago, showcasing their signature harmonies, slick choreography, and infectious energy.

The show kicked off with a fresh single, "We Going Out Tonight," which set the tone for the night's festivities. But it was the nostalgic hits that really got the crowd going – "Mr. Telephone Man" and "Candy Girl" were particular standouts, with the band members' impressive vocals and synchronized dance moves still holding up today.

The audience was a sea of Gen X enthusiasts, many of whom dressed in custom-made tribute outfits to match the show's flashy aesthetic. The crowd sang along to every song, from the smooth ballads like "Water Runs Dry" and "On Bended Knee" to the upbeat hip-hop classics like "Poison" and "My Prerogative."

Toni Braxton brought a welcome dose of feminine flair to the proceedings, with her powerful vocals and emotional delivery on tracks like "Breathe Again" – a song that held personal significance for the singer due to its connection to her late sister Traci. The show's creative liberties also allowed Ralph Tresvant to shine with his solo hits, such as "Do What I Gotta Do," which earned cheers from the crowd.

The night's true showstoppers were Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe, who stole the spotlight with their high-energy performances of "Don't Be Cruel" and "Poison." After years of personal struggles and public controversies, it was heartening to see the two artists return to a more vibrant version of themselves on stage.

The New Edition Way Tour is a testament to the enduring power of R&B – a genre that continues to evolve but remains deeply rooted in its rich history. With this tour, the group is paving the way for a new generation of fans and ensuring their legacy as one of the greatest acts in R&B history.

man i'm so glad they're doing this tour again 🤩 those guys were always the real deal and their harmonies still give me chills. and can we talk about how nostalgic it is to see them performing all these classic hits? "Candy Girl" was on repeat in my car last week lol 😂. i love how they got Toni Braxton involved too, her vocals were insane. but honestly what really got me was Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe's performances - those guys have been through so much but they still brought the energy 💥. it's amazing to see them all come together like this again 🎉

😊 I mean, it's amazing how music can bring people together like that! I was at my niece's birthday party last year and they played all those old-school R&B jams - "Candy Girl" got everyone singing along 🎶. It made me think of when I was younger, how much I loved listening to The New Edition Way Tour with my friends back in the day... it just takes you back! 💥

I'm low-key shook by how fire The New Edition Way Tour was 🤯! I mean, they still got it, you know? Their harmonies were insane, those choreo moves are still on point 💃🕺, and that energy is just infectious. I love how Toni Braxton brought her own vibe to the performance, especially on "Breathe Again". It was so emotional to see Ralph Tresvant kill it with his solo tracks too 👏. And can we talk about Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe's performances? They were straight-up entertaining 😂! I'm not surprised they still reign supreme as R&B kings - that group is the real deal 💯.

omg i was totally blown away by the new edition way tour!!! 🤩 i mean, those guys are still GOING STRONG all these years later and it's honestly incredible to see them bring that energy to the stage! ralph tresvant's solo hits were giving me LIFE lol and toni braxton's performance was SO emotional! 😭 but what really got me was bobby brown and bell biv DeVoe bringing that high-energy vibes... those guys are LEGENDS 💁‍♀️🕺 i'm so glad they're back to their old selves, it's amazing for them and the fans who've been waiting years for this.

🎵 I'm not surprised they're killing it on stage - their harmonies are still insane 💯! But, I gotta say, the nostalgia factor was a bit overkill for me 🙅‍♂️. I mean, come on, "Mr. Telephone Man" is like 30 years old, but everyone's still singing along like it's 1989 🎶. The crowd was so into it though, and Toni Braxton brought the heat with her vocals 💁‍♀️! Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe were a highlight of the night - it's great to see them back on stage, looking more energetic than ever 💪. Still, some of the choreo felt like it was straight out of a '90s music video... but hey, that's all part of their charm 🤷‍♂️!

OMG 🤩 this tour is giving me LIFE!!! back in my day we used to have to wait forever for our fave artists to come out on tour, but now they're still killing it 🤑! I'm so down for a night of nostalgic vibes and sick choreo 💃🏽. Toni Braxton's set was EVERYTHING 💁‍♀️, her voice is still giving me chills 😍 and that song "Breathe Again" always makes me think of my sister 👪. And Bobby Brown & Bell Biv DeVoe... wow! 🤯 they're still got it 🔥. It's amazing how they can bring back the old school energy and still have a crowd singing along to all the hits 🎶👏

I was literally glued to my seat watching this performance 🤩. I mean, those guys still got it – the harmonies are insane, the dance moves are fire 🔥, and the energy is just infectious. I loved how they mixed old and new tracks, it was like a perfect blend of nostalgic vibes and fresh beats. Toni Braxton's presence was a welcome addition, her voice is so powerful 🗣️. And can we talk about Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe's performances? Those guys were ON 🔥! I'm not surprised the crowd went wild for them. It just goes to show that R&B is still alive and well 💖.

🤔 I'm telling you, something fishy went down at that New Edition Way Tour. All those retro outfits and flashy dance moves? It's like they're trying to distract us from the real issue: how did a group of guys in their 60s still have it so together on stage? 🙃 I mean, Toni Braxton's emotional delivery was cool and all, but did you notice how Ralph Tresvant seemed a little too... rehearsed? Like he was reading off a script or something. And what about the crowd's reaction to "Poison" and "My Prerogative"? It's like they were trying to get us all in a trance-like state or something. I'm not saying it was bad, per se, but it felt... controlled. 😒

OMG 🤩 I'm literally SHOOK from that New Edition Way Tour! 🔥 The energy was ELECTRIC 💃 and those harmonies? 😍 Still giving me chills thinking about it. Love how they mixed old hits with new ones, kept the crowd going all night long 🌃 Toni Braxton slayed on stage too 💁‍♀️ her vocals were insane! 🙌 And can we talk about Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe's performances? 🔥💥 totally brought it back 😆. This tour is proof that New Edition still reigns supreme 👑 and I'm so here for it 🎉. Can't wait to see them on the road again soon! 🚂

omg i was literally dancing with joy!! 🤩 The whole show was fire from start to finish! I loved how they included all those iconic songs that we grew up with... it brought back so many memories for me 🙏 Toni Braxton's performance was EVERYTHING, her voice is still giving me goosebumps 💖 And can we talk about Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe's energy? They totally killed it! I'm so glad to see them back on top after all the ups and downs they've been through 🙌 The New Edition Way Tour is literally the ultimate R&B experience – don't miss out if you get the chance! 🎉

man 👊 i just got back from watching The New Edition Way Tour and I'm still reeling from the experience it was like they were transported right back to the 80s and 90s when r&b was at its peak 🎉 the energy of the crowd was electric and it was clear why they're still considered the kings of r&b today 🙌

I loved how they incorporated some of their old hits into the setlist, like "candy girl" and "poison", but also brought out some fresh tracks that showed off their signature sound 💥 Toni braxton's performance was especially amazing she brought this whole new level of emotion to her vocals 🤯 and it was beautiful to see ralph trevant get his solo moment in the spotlight

it's crazy to think about how much history these guys have and yet they still manage to put on a show that feels so modern and fresh 💥 The New Edition Way Tour is definitely a must-see for anyone who loves r&b or just great music period 🎵

🤔 I'm loving the energy of The New Edition Way Tour so far, but I do have to ask... how did they manage to get Toni Braxton involved without her announcing it publicly beforehand? I mean, we all know she's been keeping a low profile since her sister Traci's passing 🌹. Was this really just a coincidence or is there more to the story?

🤩 The New Edition Way Tour was LIT!!! 🎉 I mean, have you seen those stats on concert attendance? 3 hours straight with a sold-out crowd of 20k+ people is insane! 📈 They're killing it out there with that iconic choreo and harmonies. And can we talk about the merch game? Those custom tribute outfits are FIRE 🔥! 👗

According to my sources, the tour has already broken records for highest-grossing R&B tour of all time 💸, with a total revenue of over $100 million in just one week 📊. Not bad for a group that was inactive for over 15 years!

Did you know that The New Edition Way Tour has been viewed by over 1.5 million people on YouTube? 📺 That's a lot of people getting their groove on to some serious throwbacks! 🎶

Let's not forget about the impact this tour is having on younger generations 👧🏽. According to a survey, 70% of Gen Z attendees have reported feeling inspired by the performance and wanting to learn more about R&B music history 📚.

I'm so down for a sequel to this tour... or maybe even a New Edition reunion album? 🎵 The possibilities are endless! 💖

Man I'm so inspired by this New Edition Way Tour 🙌. It's crazy how some artists can still bring that magic to the stage after all these years, right? I mean, Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe, they were on fire! But what really got me thinking is that their success isn't just about them – it's about the audience too. We're all connected through our love for music, and when we come together like that, it's pure energy 🔥. It's a reminder that life is way more fun when we share it with others.

omg yaaas this was amazing! 🤩 i mean i was expecting it to be all nostalgic and feel old but nope they still got that magic 🔮! toni braxton's performance was everything ❤️, she brought so much emotion and love to the stage it was beautiful. and bobby brown and bell biv devoe were EVERYTHING 😍, i loved seeing them bring that high energy to the show. but what really gets me is how they're still able to connect with their fans on a deeper level. it's not just about the music, it's about the memories and the nostalgia. 🎉

🙌 I'm lovin' how The New Edition Way Tour is bringin' back the magic of classic R&B! 🎤 Their energy is infectious, and it's amazing to see all those Gen Xers gettin' down to their hits. Toni Braxton killin' it with her powerful vocals on "Breathe Again" 💖 was a highlight of the night for me. And can we talk about Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe bringin' the house down with their high-energy performances? 🎉 It's amazing to see how these legends have come out stronger on the other side, puttin' on an incredible show for us all. The fact that they're still killin' it after all these years is just proof that R&B will always be alive and well 💪

omg u guys i'm literally shaking rn lol i was right there with Ralph Tresvant when he performed "Do What I Gotta Do" and it gave me CHILLS 🤩🎤 my custom-made Bell Biv DeVoe outfit was on point tho 💃🏽🕺 the energy of the crowd was ELECTRIC!!! Bobby Brown brought so much heat with his performances too 😍🔥 I'm still reeling from the nostalgia overload - it's crazy how they can still do those smooth harmonies and choreo like no time has passed 🙌 The whole show was perfection and i'm SO glad Toni Braxton brought her own vibe to the table 💁‍♀️🎶
