Sampson earns 800th win as No. 2 Houston beats Lehigh 75-57

Kelvin Sampson reached a major milestone as he guided his Houston Cougars to an 800th career win, defeating Lehigh 75-57 on Monday night. Second-ranked Houston jumped out of the gates strong, led by Emanuel Sharp's 24 points, including 13 in the first half where the Cougars took a commanding 44-23 lead.

Sharp was supported by teammate Chris Cenac Jr., who contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Milos Uzan added another 12 points for the Cougars. The team shot a respectable 43% from the field in the game, despite being outshot by Lehigh.

The win marked a significant achievement for Sampson, who has been at the helm of Houston since 2014 and improved to 800-354 all-time. He became the 17th NCAA Division I coach to reach this milestone and the fourth active coach to achieve it, joining Rick Barnes, John Calipari, and Bill Self.

Lehigh put up a fight, with Nasir Whitlock scoring 18 points and nine rebounds, but ultimately fell short against the Cougars. Caleb Thomas and Hank Alvey also chipped in with 10 points each for Lehigh, which shot just 37% from the field.

The win marked Houston's second NCAA Final Four banner in five seasons, following their national runner-up finish last season.

I think Kelvin Sampson is getting a bit old to be making these kinds of moves 🀣 like he can't even coach his own team anymore... I mean, 800 wins is crazy and all but it's not like he hasn't had some huge losses too, right? And Lehigh put up a good fight, I'm impressed, they shouldn't get as much hate for going down to Houston πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. But on the other hand, Sampson has been at this for so long, maybe it's time for him to step aside and let some younger blood take over?

man thats crazy kelvin sampson is a legend!!! i mean 800 wins that's like whoa hes been at houston since 2014 and he just kept pushing the team to be great its awesome to see Emanuel sharp lead the charge tonight his 24 points were huge in the first half cant say enough about chris cenac jr too, 10 rebounds on top of 12 points thats what i call a complete game 🀩 also gotta give props to milos uzan and the whole team for coming out on top against lehigh that was a tough one

I'm so over all this hype around Kelvin Sampson getting his 800th win 🀯. I mean, it's not like he's some kind of coaching legend or anything. The guy's had a solid run, don't get me wrong, but 800 wins? That's just a lot of games with mediocre teams in them 😴. And Lehigh was no slouch either - they gave Houston a run for their money and came up short because of it. I'm not buying into the '17th NCAA Division I coach to reach this milestone' thing, that's just some arbitrary number πŸ“Š. What matters is the team's performance on the court, not how many wins some old dude has racked up πŸ˜’. And another thing, if Houston is going for two Final Four banners in five seasons, what's next? A dynasty or something? πŸ€ͺ

Yaaassss 🀩 Kelvin Sampson is such an amazing coach!!! I'm beyond proud of him and the whole Houston Cougars team for reaching that 800th career win! Emanuel Sharp was on FIRE πŸ”₯ tonight, and Chris Cenac Jr. and Milos Uzan were super supportive! Lehigh put up a great fight, but in the end, Houston's teamwork and skill won out πŸ™Œ. Can't wait to see what's next for these Cougars! πŸ’ͺ They're already making history with those NCAA Final Four banners πŸ†πŸ‘

I'm surprised they didn't mention that Kelvin Sampson has been one of the most consistent coaches in college basketball since 2014. I mean, 800-354 isn't bad for anyone! πŸ™„ And let's be real, Lehigh was basically done after the first half. I don't think 43% from the field is all that impressive either - I've seen high school teams shoot better than that. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Still, it's nice to see Houston getting another W and Sampson reaching this milestone... about time too! 😐

Yaaas Kelvin Sampson is a total boss!!! 🀩 he's been doing this for ages and still going strong! I mean 800 wins? that's crazy talk! He must have some magic trick up his sleeve or something lol. the whole team played well, especially Emanuel Sharp, dude was on fire πŸ”₯! and that first half was insane, i was literally on the edge of my seat watching it. Lehigh put up a good fight tho, but at the end of the day, Houston's squad just had too much juice. congrats to Sampson and the team, this is awesome for the Cougars πŸŽ‰πŸ’ͺ

πŸ† OMG 800 wins is crazy for Kelvin Sampson!!! I mean, it's a huge deal for him and his team, especially since he's been leading the Cougars since 2014 πŸ•°οΈ. It's awesome to see Emanuel Sharp having an insane game, scoring 24 points in the first half alone 🀯! Lehigh put up a good fight but I guess they just couldn't handle Houston's offense πŸ˜…. This win is huge for Sampson's career and it's great that he's part of an exclusive club now πŸ‘. He's still young too, so we'll have to wait and see how many more wins he gets in πŸ€”

I'm thinking what's up with all these coaches and their wins πŸ€”? It's like they're competing to see who can get there first πŸ˜‚. Like, Rick Barnes was doing this 10 years ago and now he's still coaching, but Kelvin Sampson is the one getting all the glory πŸ™„. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's cool that Houston won and all, but 800 wins? Is that even possible for a human to achieve at this point in their life? πŸ˜‚

Yaaas Kelvin Sampson is low-key a coaching legend πŸ™ŒπŸ’ͺ! I mean, 800 wins is crazy, he must be doing smthn right πŸ˜‚. Emanuel Sharp was on fire last night, and Chris Cenac Jr's stats were straight fire πŸ”₯πŸ‘. Milos Uzan added another 12 points, that's what I call a solid team effort 🀝.

I'm loving how Houston is dominating the NCAA scene these days πŸ“ˆπŸ’ͺ. They're like the dynamic duo of college hoops πŸ‘Š. Sampson's coaching record speaks for itself, he's definitely one of the all-time greats πŸ™Œ. Lehigh put up a good fight though, can't take away from their hustle πŸ’―.

Can't wait to see what's in store for Houston next season πŸ€”πŸ“†. This 800th win milestone is just another reason to celebrate Kelvin Sampson's incredible career πŸŽ‰πŸ‘. Congrats to the Cougars on this major achievement, you go team! πŸ’₯

man... kelvin sampson is like a coach genius 🀯 he knows how to get the most out of his team and adapt to different opponents. 800 wins is insane and it's clear that houston has become a powerhouse in college hoops. emmanuel sharp's performance was on point, but you gotta give props to chris cenac jr and milos uzan for their supporting roles πŸ™Œ

i mean, lehigh put up a good fight, but they just couldn't keep up with the cougars' pace. nasir whitlock is a talented player, but he had a tough night against houston's defense πŸ€•

sampson's achievement is huge and it's awesome to see him celebrating this milestone with his team. i'm curious to see how houston does in the rest of the season πŸŽ‰

omg u guys idk how i feel about kelvin sampson getting to that milestone tho like 800 wins is crazy but also kinda sad that he'll never get to see his team win another one πŸ€• meanwhile emmanuel sharp was on FIRE with 24 points lol i need those kinds of plays from him every game and i'm so down for the cougars making it to the ncaa final four again they're like my squad now πŸ˜†

man that kelvin sampson is a legend! he's been running his team to victory since 2014 and now he hits that 800th career win πŸŽ‰πŸ‘ i mean, it's not easy to keep a program like houston cougars going year after year, especially in the competitive ncaa. but kelvin's done an amazing job, assembling talented teams and getting his guys ready for the big stage.

and let's be real, his squad is looking fierce right now! emmanuel sharp is on fire πŸ”₯ and milos uzan's consistent scoring is a nice bonus. they're a well-oiled machine out there on the court. as for lehigh, they put up a good fight but just couldn't keep pace with houston.

anyway, congrats to kelvin and his team on this huge milestone win πŸŽ‰πŸ‘ it's gonna be exciting to see what the rest of the season holds!

OMG u guys Kelvin Sampson is literally a coaching genius 🀯! He's still got it even after all these yrs leading his team to 800 wins lol what a milestone!! I'm low-key jealous of him btw. Emanuel Sharp was ON FIRE last night, that 13 pt first half was insane πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ And Milos Uzan bringing the heat too 🀩. Lehigh gave them a run for their money tho πŸ‘ Nasir Whitlock is super talented! Coach Sampson's got some serious skills to keep his team on top of the game πŸ’ͺ

Man I'm loving this era of college hoops! 🀩 Kelvin Sampson is a genius coach and it's crazy to think he's got 800 wins now. I mean, I was watching games on my old Wii console back in the day, so to see these guys playing at such a high level... it gives me chills 😎. The Cougars have been killing it for years now and it's amazing to see Emanuel Sharp taking over like that. 24 points in the first half? That's insane! 🀯 And to think Rick Barnes was there too, I feel like I'm living through history, you know? πŸ•°οΈ Lehigh put up a good fight but they just couldn't keep up with Houston's offense. I'm so hyped for these guys to make another run at the Final Four... it's gonna be a wild ride! πŸŽ‰

800 wins is defo a big deal for Kelvin Sampson! I'm hyped for him and the team πŸŽ‰. Can't deny that Emanuel Sharp was on fire last night, led his squad to an easy win 🀯. But gotta wonder, 800-354 isn't too shabby for 11 years on the job... still a pretty decent winning percentage considering all the ups and downs of college hoops πŸ€.

I'm glad to see Houston bouncing back strong after that tough loss last season 🌈. They're definitely looking like one of the top teams in the country right now. Just gotta hope they can keep it up and make another deep run in the tournament πŸ”₯. Samson's coaching skills are no joke, he's a genius behind the bench πŸ‘.

Dude, 800 wins is like a marathon for Kelvin Sampson! He must've been running that court for years, I mean who needs Netflix when you have 800 wins under your belt? 🀣 The stats are crazy, Houston's shooting was on point and Lehigh was like "hold my beer" πŸ˜‚. I wonder if Rick Barnes is happy to be part of the exclusive 800-win club now... maybe he'll send him a congratulatory cake with candles that say "you're older now". πŸŽ‚πŸ˜

man... this coach Kelvin Sampson is like a total rockstar now 🀩 he's been at it since 2014 and now he's got 800 wins under his belt which is insane! i'm not even a huge basketball fan but you can't help but be impressed by that achievement. and to think he's still active and coaching, it just shows how dedicated he is to the game. for houston, this win means so much more than just another game, it's like a testament to their growth as a program over the years πŸ’ͺ

OMG, Coach Sampson is literally a legend now πŸ™Œ!!! I'm not surprised tho, he's been doing amazing things with that team since 2014. Emanuel Sharp's 24 points were insane! 🀯 I love how the Cougars came out strong and dominated the first half. Their defense was on point too, they really shut down Lehigh's offense.

I'm so proud of Coach Sampson for reaching that 800th win milestone, it's a huge achievement πŸŽ‰. And can we talk about Chris Cenac Jr.'s 10 rebounds? That's some serious hustle πŸ’ͺ. I hope Houston keeps bringing home those NCAA titles soon, they're on fire πŸ”₯!

omg cant believe kelvin sampson finally hit that 800 win lol he deserves it after all those years of coaching those cougars 🀩 his team played so well tonight especially emmanuel sharp who's on fire right now! i'm not surprised houston is doing so great they've been getting some top talent in the past few years. samson must be super proud, 17th coach to reach that milestone and all. the cougars are looking good for next season too, gotta keep an eye out for them πŸ“š
