Senate Democrats reach deal to avert partial government shutdown

I'm kinda surprised they were able to come together at the last minute like that 🤔... I mean, it's not like we haven't seen this before where Congress throws a lot of money at problems, only for there to be more issues down the line. Anyway, splitting the DHS funding bill from other spending bills is probably a good start, but I wish they would've gotten into some of that deeper stuff about mass deportations and reforming federal agents... 🤷‍♂️

I'm also kinda curious how this whole thing will play out in the short term. The White House saying they want to pass legislation to address ICE's activities is a good start, but it feels like just empty words unless there are actual consequences for not doing so 😒.

On the other hand, I guess it's better than the government shutting down completely... that would've been a disaster 🚨. At least with this deal, they're still funding DHS and stuff, even if it's only temporarily.

One thing that's always weird about these deals is how quickly everyone moves on from them once they pass 🙄. It feels like the conversation never really goes back to where it started from... maybe I'm just being cynical, but I don't see how this is going to lead to any real change in the long run 😐
