Sharks feel struggling defenseman needs to have ‘a little bit of a reset’

San Jose Sharks Dman Struggling to Regain Form, Coach Suggests "Reset"

The San Jose Sharks' defense corps has been a hot topic of discussion all season long. After rotating several players in and out of the lineup, veteran defenseman John Klingberg finds himself on the chopping block. Coming off back-to-back losses, head coach Ryan Warsofsky hinted that Klingberg will be a healthy scratch for the first time this season when the Sharks host the Utah Mammoth.

Klingberg's play has been inconsistent at best in recent games, with a combined -4 and two giveaways in Sharks losses to the Calgary Flames and Seattle Kraken last week. Despite being a key player on the team's power play unit, Klingberg is still mired in a 3-for-32 slump with the man advantage over the past 10 games.

Coach Warsofsky believes that Klingberg needs to "reset" his game, citing improved puck play as crucial to breaking out of his current slump. When asked about Klingberg's struggles, Warsofsky emphasized that there is better hockey in him when playing 5-on-5 and acknowledged that the team has multiple defensemen capable of making plays.

Klingberg himself acknowledges that he needs to improve, stating that he just needs "a little bit more consistency with the puck." The veteran defenseman also downplayed any concerns about a possible health issue, insisting that his physical health is fine after missing close to two weeks due to injury.

With Klingberg potentially facing a scratch, another defenseman Timothy Liljegren may also be left out of the lineup. However, Warsofsky assures fans that the team wants to keep players fresh and "not let guys sit out for a while."

Klingberg's situation highlights the challenges faced by power play units across the league, but it remains to be seen if the Sharks' coaching staff can help their veteran defenseman regain form and contribute to the team's success.

I'm tellin' ya, the Sharks' D-corps has been a mess this season 🤯. I mean, Klingberg's playin' like he's stuck in neutral, and it's gettin' frustratin' for fans. The coach sayin' "reset" might be just what he needs, but it's not that easy, you know? It takes time to adjust and find your groove again.

I'm a bit worried about Liljegren too, if he gets benched as well... the Sharks need some stability on defense. But Warsofsky's got a point about keepin' players fresh and not lettin' guys get rusted off 🏒️. Maybe this is just an opportunity for Klingberg to refocus and come back stronger than ever 💪. We'll see how it all plays out!

I feel bad for Klingberg, he's been with this team for a while & has always been reliable. But you gotta think about what's best for the team right now. Warsofsky seems like he's trying to do what's right by giving Klingberg a chance to refocus & get his game back on track... 🤔

It's funny how sometimes you need a break from something before you can actually get it together, I mean, who hasn't been there with their phone or social media? 📱 Maybe Klingberg just needs some time to recharge & come back stronger. On the other hand, Liljegren is looking good right now so... let's not count him out either 😏

awww man, gotta feel bad for Klingberg 🤕 he's been struggling so much lately and it's like, totally affecting the whole team. i get what coach Warsofsky is saying, a "reset" makes sense but it's also hard not to worry about the veteran defenseman getting benched 🤔 does this mean he's losing his confidence or something? i hope he can bounce back soon and show us what he's got 😊

🤔 gotta feel bad for John Klingberg, been on a downward spiral lately 📉 3-for-32 slump is tough to shake off... coach Warsofsky's right though, gotta "reset" his game & focus on puck play 🚨 consistency is key 🔒 what if he takes some time off to recharge & come back stronger? 🤞

I THINK THE SHARKS COACHING STAFF NEEDS TO BE MORE OPEN ABOUT WHY THEY'RE ROTATING PLAYERS IN AND OUT OF THE LINEUP. IT'S NOT JUST KLINGBERG, IT'S TIMOTHY LILJEGREN TOO! BOTH PLAYERS HAVE BEEN SKILLED PLAYERS FOR YEARS, BUT NOW THEY JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GET IT RIGHT. I FEEL LIKE THERE'S MORE TO THIS STORY THAN JUST K Klingberg NEEDING TO "RESET" HIS GAME.
