South Korean golfer Si-Woo Kim has taken the lead at the American Express, a tournament he's vying to win for the second time. His 66 in the third round moved him ahead of Scottie Scheffler and teenager Blades Brown by one stroke.
Kim, who is looking to claim his second victory at the event, played some impressive golf, reeling off seven birdies and just one bogey. The 22-under-par score puts him atop the leaderboard, with Scheffler and Brown sitting in second place, both six strokes behind Kim's lead.
Scheffler, who is making his first PGA Tour appearance of the season, had a solid round but was unable to catch up to Kim's lead. He carded six birdies and two bogeys, but admitted that he needs to be sharper if he wants to win.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Blades Brown had an impressive round, reeling off five birdies and one bogey. The young golfer is on his way to potentially becoming the second youngest PGA Tour event winner with a victory. He was particularly strong on the final three holes, including a clutch 44-foot putt on the 18th.
Despite trailing by six strokes, Brown remains optimistic about his chances. "That's so many people around it, it gets your adrenaline up," he said. "And that's what you play and practise for, right?" When asked how he plans to catch up, Brown replied, "Another 18 holes and we're going to see what we can do."
The field played across three different courses in the first three rounds, but Kim's third round was on a different course than Scheffler and Brown. It will be interesting to see how this affects their chances moving forward.
For now, Si-Woo Kim is leading the pack at the American Express, but it's anyone's game going into the final round.
