A$AP Rocky Takes SNL by Storm with 'Punk Rocky' and 'Helicopter'

Harlem-born rapper A$AP Rocky kicked off his Saturday Night Live (SNL) stint with a three-song performance from his latest album, Don't Be Dumb. The show premiered just hours after an intimate album release party at the SNL studio late Thursday night.

Rocky began his set with the title track "Punk Rocky," followed by a medley of "Helicopter" and its accompanying song. The 37-year-old rapper seems unfazed about the frequency of his output, focusing instead on crafting a lasting legacy.

In an interview with Perfect Magazine last fall, Rocky explained that he prioritizes creating meaningful projects over staying relevant or being the first to achieve something. This approach is reflected in Don't Be Dumb, which features collaborations with numerous artists, including Will.i.am, Doechii, and Gorillaz.

The album's eclectic mix of sounds is showcased on SNL, with Rocky delivering high-energy performances that leave little room for error. The 15-track album also includes "Don't Be Dumb," the title track off which Rocky performed live on SNL.

Rocky's next scheduled show is headlining Governors Ball in Queens, New York in June – though no official tour dates have been announced to support his latest album yet.
