Seahawks Players Share Gratitude as Team Celebrates Super Bowl Win - A Special Moment of Redemption and Blessings
Seattle Seahawks players are still basking in the glory of their historic win, as they celebrate their second NFL championship title. Amidst all the jubilation, the 24-year-old linebacker Derick Hall couldn't help but express gratitude to his mother for giving him a chance at life.
Hall's story is one of redemption and perseverance. Born four months premature with a rare condition that gave him only a 1% chance of survival, he was kept on life support by his mother against medical advice. It was a decision that would change the course of Hall's life forever.
"I'm very blessed - kudos to Mom," Hall said in an interview after the game. "That was a special moment after the game. I feel like she's an unsung hero, an unsung warrior through this whole process."
Hall's journey to the Super Bowl is nothing short of remarkable. From being born with a life-threatening condition to growing up as a football player with a rare disease that affects his joints.
His mother, who has been with him every step of the way, revealed in an interview that she never gave up on her son and always believed he had what it took to make it in sports.
"She was the first person to believe in me," said Hall. "She's believed that this story was written so long ago."
As for Hall's teammates, they couldn't be prouder of their teammate's incredible journey.
"We're all just grateful for Derick and his family," said Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald.
The 46-year-old coach became the first overseas coach to win a Super Bowl, after beginning his coaching journey in the British amateur game. He put together a plan that helped the Seahawks dominate the Patriots 29-13.
"We put a plan together and the guys executed at an elite level," Coach Macdonald said.
Hall's teammate Sam Darnold also expressed gratitude to his parents for believing in him.
"My dad was the first person to believe in me," said Darnold. "He told my mom I could play football, but my mom didn't trust him."
Darnold shared a great moment with his parents and fiancΓ©e Katie after the game.
"It's an unbelievable story," said Coach Macdonald. "To be in this place, it's hallowed ground."
