Swedish holiday market set for Dec. 6 in South Philly

Philadelphia will be decked out in festive cheer this holiday season as the American Swedish Historical Museum's Lucia and Christmas Market sets up shop in South Philadelphia on December 6th and 7th. For two days, a heated outdoor tent will transform into a winter wonderland, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in all things Scandinavian.

The market, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., promises a veritable smorgasbord of delights, with regional vendors selling everything from traditional Scandinavian foods and seasonal decorations to handmade gifts and unique souvenirs. Visitors can also expect to find vintage treasures at Mormor's Attic, a secondhand sale featuring an eclectic mix of items, as well as sweet treats from SWEA Philadelphia.

To get into the holiday spirit, guests can enjoy lunch dishes and sweets at the Swedish Christmas CafΓ© or groove to live music by folk duo Last Chance. For kids, there will be two Lucia performances each day at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., featuring traditional Swedish songs and dances performed by children, followed by the iconic Lucia procession down the museum steps.

Admission prices are reasonable, with nonmembers paying $10, members just $8, and children aged 5 to 12 for $5. Children under five can attend for free. The market is held at the American Swedish Historical Museum's FDR Park location, located at 1900 Pattison Avenue in Philadelphia.

I'm not sure why they're having a Lucia and Christmas Market in South Philly, but I guess it'll be fun to check out. They've got all sorts of vendors selling traditional Scandinavian stuff like food, decorations, and gifts πŸŽ„. It's actually pretty cool that they're including kids' activities like the Lucia performances, it's a great way to get them into the holiday spirit. The prices are pretty reasonable too, I mean who doesn't love a good deal? 😊

I'm kinda meh about outdoor holiday markets πŸ€”. I mean, it's all good and festive vibes, but what's the point of getting your hands on some Swedish meatballs when you could just order takeout from that new Nordic place downtown? And don't even get me started on the crowds – 2 days is a pretty short window for people to come out and shop. Plus, I'm not sure how many non-Swedish people are actually gonna care about Lucia and all that jazz πŸŽ„. But hey, if you're into that sorta thing, go for it! It's probably gonna be super fun and Instagrammable.

Ugh, I'm so over these "winter wonderland" events that just turn into overcrowded and overpriced markets πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸŽ…. Like, can't they just have a cute little Lucia performance or two instead of setting up an entire tent city? And $10 for nonmembers is steep... I mean, I love Swedish food as much as the next person, but that's just a bit too pricey for me πŸ½οΈπŸ’Έ. And don't even get me started on how they're gonna clean up after all those people and tents in FDR Park πŸŒ³πŸ’¦.

OMG 🀩 I'm super stoked to hear about this Lucia and Christmas Market in South Philly! It sounds like so much fun πŸŽ…οΈ, especially for families with kids. Those Lucia performances are going to be adorable 😍, and who can resist trying all the traditional Scandinavian foods and drinks? 🍰πŸ₯³ I also love that there's a secondhand sale and vintage treasures to browse through at Mormor's Attic πŸ‘—. The whole event just screams cozy vibes β˜•οΈ and festive cheer ❀️. Plus, it's great that admission prices are reasonable 😊. Can't wait to visit and soak up all the holiday magic ✨!

I'm so stoked about this Lucia and Christmas Market event in South Philly πŸŽ„πŸŽ…οΈ! It's like, the perfect way to get into that holiday vibe without breaking the bank or feeling too overwhelmed. I love that they have a Swedish Christmas CafΓ© with lunch dishes and sweet treats – it's gonna be such a cozy spot to grab a bite with friends and family ❀️. And, omigosh, the vintage treasures at Mormor's Attic? 🀯 That sounds like so much fun to browse through! Plus, the Lucia performances for kids are adorable 🎢. I'm def adding this to my holiday calendar – can't wait to check it out with my squad! 😊

I'm so down for a Scandinavian holiday extravaganza πŸŽ„πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡Ή! Decking out Philly's South side with festive cheer sounds like just what we need to get into the holiday spirit 🌟. I'm excited about the smorgasbord of vendors selling traditional Scandinavian foods, decorations, and handmade gifts... Mormor's Attic is calling my name πŸ›οΈ!

The Lucia performances for kids are adorable πŸŽΆπŸ‘§, and who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned Swedish Christmas CafΓ© lunch πŸ₯? I'm also stoked about the live music - folk duo Last Chance should bring some awesome vibes to the market 🎡. And, yay! Reasonable admission prices make it accessible for all ages πŸ‘«.

Here's a rough diagram of what the market might look like:

I'm so over Lucia and Christmas markets everywhere! Like, can't we just stick to Thanksgiving and Halloween for once? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I mean, don't get me wrong, Swedish food is delicious, but all that twinkly lights and festive stuff just feels like too much. And $10 for a nonmember?! That's crazy talk! Can't they just keep the prices reasonable or something? πŸ˜’ I guess it's still gonna be fun for kids and adults who love that sorta thing, but personally, I'll stick to my cozy PJs and Netflix πŸ“Ί

I'm skeptical about all the fuss around Lucia and Christmas Markets πŸ€”. I mean, it's just a bunch of vendors selling overpriced stuff to tourists who think they're getting a taste of Scandinavia β˜•οΈ. And what's with the "traditional" Scandinavian foods that are basically just glorified IKEA dishes? 🍽️ I'm not saying I don't love a good meatball or two, but come on, let's be real πŸ˜‚.

And have you seen those admission prices? $10 for nonmembers? That's just crazy πŸ€‘. I guess if you're looking for a free day out with the kids, they can at least get some festive fun in, but for us adults, it's just a pricey holiday market experience 🎁.

I'm all about getting into the holiday spirit, but let's not forget what Christmas is really about: spending time with family and friends, not buying overpriced Swedish decorations πŸŽ„. Still, if you're into that sorta thing, I guess it's worth checking out πŸ‘.

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans πŸ˜ŠπŸ’«. Don't be too hard on yourself, just go with the flow and enjoy the ride! πŸŽ„ This Lucia and Christmas Market sounds like a blast, can't wait for some good ol' Swedish cheer in Philly this holiday season! ❀️

Omg u guys! I'm so down for that Lucia & Christmas Market in South Philly! πŸŽ„πŸŽ… It sounds like they've got everything to get us in the holiday spirit - from foodie faves like Swedish treats to vintage finds at Mormor's Attic... and let's not forget about those sweet SWEA Philly goodies! πŸ˜‹ I'm also loving that it's all pretty affordable, even for a day out with the kiddos. The Lucia performances sound adorable too πŸŽΆπŸ‘§β€πŸŽ„. Def gonna mark my calendar for Dec 6th & 7th and get this festive party started! ❀️

I'm so stoked to see more cultural events popping up in the city! The Lucia and Christmas Market is such a great way to bring people together and celebrate the holiday season πŸŽ„. I mean, who wouldn't want to indulge in some traditional Scandinavian treats like glΓΆgg and kanelbulle? 🍰🍴 And the fact that they're partnering with local vendors and artists to create this unique experience is really commendable.

I'm also loving the idea of bringing in the kids with those Lucia performances! It's great that they're incorporating folk music and traditional dances into the event. And can we talk about how adorable it'll be to see all these little ones dressed up in their cozy Swedish costumes πŸŽ…οΈ?

OMG, I'm so down for a Scandinavian Christmas market πŸŽ„πŸ½οΈ! Who knew Philly had a Swedish side?! I need to get there ASAP and check out Mormor's Attic - secondhand shopping is my jam πŸ’°. And can we talk about the Lucia performances? My niece would LOVE watching those kid performers show off their traditional Swedish moves πŸ’ƒ. I'm also low-key excited for some Swedish Christmas treats 🍰. The FDR Park location sounds like a cool spot, too. Only $5 for kids under 12? That's a Christmas miracle for me and the kiddos πŸŽ…. Let's get this festive market started!

omg u gotta check out philly's lucia & christmas market πŸŽ„πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ they got everything from traditional swedish food to vintage treasures @ mormor's attic 😍 and live music by last chance! 🎢 plus there r Lucia performances for kids each day at 11:30am & 2pm πŸ‘§πŸ» it's def worth a visit, esp since admission is pretty cheap πŸ’Έ u can even grab lunch or snacks from the swedish christmas cafΓ© 🍰

omg, Lucia and Christmas Market sounds like so much fun πŸŽ„πŸŽ…οΈ i'm totally down for some festive cheer and a taste of scandinavia... but at the same time, i'm a bit skeptical about the whole thing. like, isn't it just gonna be a bunch of overpriced stuff and sugar comas from all the sweet treats? πŸ˜‚ and what's up with the vintage treasures? are they gonna have some real gems or is it just gonna be a bunch of old junk? πŸ€” still sounds pretty cool to me tho, especially if you're into that kinda thing. and hey, at least they're keeping it affordable for the little ones! πŸ‘
