Tame Impala Resurrects ‘Sundown Syndrome’ at Halloween Barclays Show

Tame Impala brought back a fan-favorite favorite from their vault on Halloween night in Brooklyn, as Kevin Parker performed the live rarity "Sundown Syndrome" for the first time in seven years at Barclays Center.

The psychedelic gem, originally released as Tame Impala's debut single in 2009, had been a staple of the band's sets since 2018, but made an unexpected return to the stage on night three of their four-night sold-out run. Parker and his touring band donned costumes inspired by his early "scarf-era" aesthetic, adding to the show's Halloween chaos.

The evening took a surreal turn when comedian Eric Andre appeared in the backstage bathroom cam, sharing a quick kiss with Kevin Parker that left the crowd in stitches. This unexpected cameo was just one of the many surprises in store for fans of Tame Impala on this night.

"Sundown Syndrome" joins a string of other new and old tracks played during the Deadbeat Tour, which kicked off earlier in the week with several surprise debuts, including a cover of Justice's "D.A.N.C.E." The tour is supporting Parker's latest album, Deadbeat, which debuted at number one on six different rankings.

Deadbeat has been a commercial success, landing in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and cracking the top five for Tame Impala. It also topped several other genre-specific charts, including Top Rock & Alternative Albums. The album's success is no surprise given its inspired sound, which Parker credits to his experiences at Western Australia rave scenes.

The Deadbeat Tour continues with its final Brooklyn date on Friday before heading to Toronto and beyond, promising fans a night they'll never forget with Tame Impala's unique blend of psychedelia and live performance.
