The $500 billion beauty industry’s ‘green’ ambitions are a patchwork at best. And they’re falling short | CNN

I think 95% plastic waste from packaging is crazy! 🤯 They need to come up with more eco-friendly alternatives ASAP, like bioplastics or refillable containers. The British Beauty Council's stats on natural ingredients also got me thinking - if they're sourced unsustainably, then what's the point of calling them 'natural'? 🌿 We need more standardization in labeling so consumers can make informed choices.

And I'm with you, certifications like B Corp are a good start, but we need governments and multinationals to step up and enforce regulations. The US is only at 4% recycling rate? 😂 That's ridiculous! As consumers, we're driving change by demanding greener products, so brands should keep innovating and responding with initiatives that show they care.

But here's the thing - I think if beauty brands work together to set collective goals and share strategies, they can drive meaningful change faster. We need a global strategy on sustainability practices, not just individual efforts. The industry's lack of cohesion is holding them back from achieving real impact. 💡

I'm so frustrated with the state of our planet 🌎💔, and it seems like every other day there's another article about how much waste is being generated by industries that should know better...the beauty industry is a prime example - 95% of their waste is plastic packaging?! That's just crazy! I mean, I get that they're trying to make sustainable changes, but it feels like it's happening at such a slow pace. Can't we just have some global standards in place already? 🤔 I also think it's crazy that certifications like B Corp aren't being taken more seriously - if more brands were held to those standards, maybe we'd see some real change. We need market leadership and regulation, period 💪
