The ‘cannibalization question’: Can NYC handle 3 new casinos?

idk if nyc is ready for 3 new casinos 🤔... i mean, we're already dealing with super crowded streets & rising housing costs. adding more casinos just gonna make things worse 💸... but on the other hand, $13 billion in taxes sounds like a sweet deal 🤑... gotta think about it from multiple angles... some ppl say they'll create jobs & boost local communities, but what about all the negative effects on long-time residents & small businesses? 🤷‍♀️

idk why they wanna bring in 3 more casinos lol its likeNYC is already a mess 🤯 think about all the gentrification that's already happenin in some areas, add 2 more casinos and it'll be like the final nail in the coffin for ppl who can't afford housing 🤑 plus what about the impact on local businesses? they're gonna get pushed out by these big corporations 📈 and its not like the gov is doin anything to help small business owners 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure if 3 new casinos is a good idea for NYC... think about it like this - we're already having issues with gentrification in places like Williamsburg and Harlem, what's gonna happen to people who live in Flushing or Corona? I mean, I get that the city needs the cash, but can't we find other ways to boost the economy without displacing so many people? And what about the environment? All these new casinos are gonna attract a lot of tourists, which is great for the city, but it's also gonna bring in all this traffic and noise pollution... 🚗💨

🤔 I'm a bit skeptical about this whole casino situation in NYC... like, $13 billion in taxes sounds great and all, but have you considered what happens when people start flooding into one area? 🏙️ Queens is already seeing some major gentrification issues, so adding two more casinos could just exacerbate the problem. What about the people who already live there? Are we really gonna push them out to make way for more gamblers and businesses that cater to them? 🤑 I think the city needs to take a step back and think about what's really important here - is it just about raking in some cash, or can't we find other ways to support our communities? 💸

im not sure i agree with this plan 🤔... i mean, $13 billion in taxes is a big deal, but what about the people who already live here? all these new casinos are gonna change the face of the city, and not for the better, imo. think about it, more traffic, more noise, more pollution... and where will all these jobs go? probably to temp workers or contractors who dont need healthcare or any benefits. and what about the existing businesses? they'll just get pushed out by the new, flashy casinos that come in with big promises of revenue and 'community investment'. i hope the gaming commission does some real research before making a decision 🤞

🤔 I'm thinking, what's the deal with all these new casinos popping up in NYC? 🤑 The board says we'll get $13 billion in taxes, but critics are like "hold up, how's this gonna affect existing businesses?" 📉 The numbers are looking good - $5.5 billion in gross gaming revenue by 2033 sounds solid 📊. But, on the flip side, a casino near Citi Field is displacing 16k renters? 🤯 That's some serious red tape, fam 🚧. Proponents say it'll create jobs and rev up local communities, but opponents are all like "no way, this will just lead to cannibalization" 😒. I'm no expert, but $5.5 billion in revenue seems legit 🤑...but what about the impact on long-time residents? 🤷‍♀️ We'll have to wait and see how it all plays out 📊
