gift-giving is such an interesting thing... I mean, think about it - we spend so much time trying to find the perfect gift, but what if it's not even about finding the "perfect" gift? 
It's almost like we're trying to buy someone's happiness or something. and what's with all these new-age gifts like essential oil diffusers and scented candles? like, isn't that just a fancy way of saying "we're not actually paying attention to you"? 
anyway, i think the thing that gets me is how expensive some of these gifts can be... it's like, if someone just wants to hang out with you, they don't have to break the bank. maybe we should just start focusing on experiences instead of material stuff? idk...
