The haunting Masters meltdown that changed Rory McIlroy’s career | CNN

man this Rory Mcilroy story is crazy 🤯 I mean he was just 22 and leading the masters by 3 strokes and then just imploded 💥 like what happened? did he choke or something? 😂 anyway it's cool that he bounced back from that and won some big tournaments but still can't get that green jacket 🏆 i feel for him, he's been close so many times but it just eludes him. I think he's still got time tho, like the article said, time is on his side ⏰ and he's been getting better lately. maybe next year will be the year? 🤞 fingers crossed

idk how much stress Rory McIlroy must've gone through after comin' so close to winin' the Masters back in 2011 🤯 like he was leadin' with 9 holes to go and then just fell apart 😬 it's crazy to think that was a defining moment for him, but instead of breakin' him, it kinda made him stronger, ya know? 💪 now look at him, multiple majors under his belt, and still grindin' away 🏆 like he's got the skillz, but can't seem to get that last bit of magic with a green jacket 🎉 guess you could say time is on his side... for now 😅

I'm lovin' how Rory McIlroy bounced back from that heartbreakin' 2011 Masters loss 🤕... I mean, he's won like 5 majors since then! 🏆 His stats are crazy - 26 PGA Tour wins, including 4 major titles 😲. But you know what really gets me? He's the only one of our gen's biggest stars to get the career grand slam without a Green Jacket 🤔. That's gotta be killin' him, right? 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I love how he's still pushin' forward... but with all due respect, if he doesn't get that first one soon, his window might start to close 🔒. Here are some more stats to chew on:

* McIlroy's 2014 US Open win was his 3rd major title in just over a year 🏃‍♂️
* His career average is around 68.7 - not bad for a guy who used to choke under pressure 😅
* Bubba Watson, the dude he lost to in '11, has had a pretty up-and-down career himself... 🤔

🏌️‍♂️ just read about Rory's crazy 2011 Masters experience 😲 he was leading with 9 holes to go and then just fell apart 🤯 anyone know what went through his mind on that playoff hole? 🤔 maybe it was a blessing in disguise tho, who knows if he'd've won otherwise? 🤷‍♂️ anyway, love how he's bounced back from that disappointment and now he's got the majors all but one - can't wait to see what the future holds for him! 💪 btw, has anyone else noticed that his game is still so clutch when it matters most? 🤔 (link: https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/10555134/rory-mcilroy-masters-2011)

🏆 I mean, you gotta feel for Rory McIlroy, right? That near-miss at the 2011 Masters still stings to this day. I think what's impressive is how he's bounced back from that disappointment, winning major after major and proving himself as one of the best golfers in the world 🌟.

But at the same time, it's frustrating for his fans, you know? To see him so close, yet so far from achieving that elusive Green Jacket. I mean, all four majors, no problem – but a little bit of luck on that playoff hole would've made all the difference 😔.

Still, I think McIlroy's had an incredible career so far, and he's definitely shown he's got what it takes to win under pressure. And hey, Augusta National can be a cruel mistress – one year you're celebrating, the next year... well, let's just say you won't forget it 😅.
