The whole thing with Charlene Downes is just so messed up... like, how did it take them 20 years to finally look into new evidence? It's wild that a salacious story about her body being turned into kebab meat was believed and even spread around 
. But the more I read about it, the more I'm convinced it was just baseless gossip.
Iyad Albattikhi and Mohammed Reveshi were never actually proven guilty of murder... they got a retrial abandoned because of dodgy tapes
. It's wild that the police and media still go on about how racist the case is, but we don't really know if it was ever about racism in the first place or just a load of speculation.
Thorp's podcast series is actually really interesting... she digs up some disturbing stories about grooming gangs in Blackpool and how women were pressured into testifying against people. But I'm not buying that Facebook group is all about justice
they seem more interested in getting revenge on the accused.
This whole case just highlights how messed up our justice system can be
especially when it comes to marginalized communities. We need better, people!

i mean, i've been following it since 2007 and it's crazy how much misinformation has gone on about those two men who were tried 
iyad and mohammed were always gonna be suspects but like, some of the stuff that's come out now has me thinking maybe they didn't get away with murder after all 
nicola thorp is doing some amazing work researching this and i love how she's calling out the police and media for their part in all this 
what really gets me though is how class and racism came into play here - charlene was literally described by cops as a "runaway" like, no one's just gonna run away without being seen 
and then you've got the whole kebab meat thing which i'm pretty sure was a total fabrication 
anyway, i'm really glad thorp is shedding light on this case and hoping more people come forward with info
