Trump's Georgia election interference case won't be pursued by new prosecutor

New Georgia Prosecutor Drops Trump Election Interference Case, Citing Lack of Evidence

A Fulton County Superior Court judge has dismissed the case against President Donald Trump and 14 of his allies in connection with their alleged efforts to subvert the state's 2020 election results. The decision comes after a new prosecutor, Pete Skandalakis, appointed himself to the case, citing a lack of viable options for prosecution.

Skandalakis, who is also the executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia, took over the case after former district attorney Fani Willis was removed due to a romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade. The two had worked on the same case before Willis was subsequently removed from the position by the court.

While Trump and his allies faced charges in connection with their alleged attempts to undermine the 2020 election results, the charges against him were deemed unlikely to move forward while he remains president, according to AP reports. However, the other defendants still faced significant legal consequences.

The case was brought using an anti-racketeering statute typically associated with organized crime, and a nearly 100-page indictment detailed how Trump and his allies allegedly conspired to undo his defeat in the 2020 election.

In response to the dismissal of the case, Trump's lead attorney, Steve Sadow, praised Skandalakis' decision, calling it "a fair and impartial prosecutor" who had "put an end to this lawfare." Sadow also took aim at Willis, claiming that she was a "disaster" and that her removal from the case was long overdue.

The decision marks a significant blow to Trump's legal troubles in connection with his efforts to undermine the 2020 election results. It remains to be seen how this development will impact any potential future investigations into Trump's actions.

🤔 This whole thing is just wild... I mean, can't believe they actually dropped all these charges and it's like, "oh well" for everyone except the actual people who were trying to uncover some shady stuff going on 🙄. It's so frustrating that you gotta wonder if there was even any real wrongdoing to begin with... was it just a bunch of noise? 🗣️

Ugh, can't believe this 🤯... So the new prosecutor just drops the case against Trump and his crew because there wasn't enough evidence? Like, come on! You're telling me that all those hours of work by Fani Willis and her team were for nothing? 🤷‍♂️ It's so frustrating when politics gets in the way of justice. I wish they would focus more on finding real truth instead of just trying to make a point. This whole thing is just so confusing 🙄...

I'm not surprised 🤷‍♂️, I mean who expects a new prosecutor to take over and just dismiss everything? 😒 I think it's pretty clear that the charges were a long shot from the start, especially with Trump being President 🙄. The whole thing just seemed like another attempt at trying to discredit him, but in the end, it just ended up looking like a waste of time ⏰. And now Pete Skandalakis is getting all this praise for just stepping aside? 🤔 I don't get it... maybe he was just following orders or something? 😕 Anyway, I guess we'll have to wait and see how this plays out in the future 🔮.

omg, can you believe this? 😱 like, trump and his crew thought they could just waltz in here and try to subvert an election and get away with it? 🤦‍♂️ the fact that they were even able to get a case against them is wild, let alone think they'd actually get charged. but at the same time, you gotta feel bad for fani willis - she's just getting caught up in all this drama because of her personal life 💔. and now this new prosecutor dude is basically saying that there's no way to prosecute trump, which is wild 🤯. like, isn't that what prosecutors are supposed to do? i guess you never know what's gonna happen with these cases, but one thing's for sure - it's all just getting so messy and drawn out 💁‍♀️.

I'm so done with these "lawfare" cases 🤯. Can't we just have a fair and level playing field without all the drama? I mean, come on, 14 people get charged under an anti-racketeering statute for trying to undo an election result? It's just not right 😒. And now this new prosecutor, Skandalakis, just appoints himself to the case because he can't find any evidence against Trump? Like what even is that 🤷‍♂️. It's all just a big mess and I'm so over it 🙄. Can't we just have some decent accountability in politics without all these shenanigans?
