'Tuna King' pays record £2.4m for giant bluefin at Tokyo auction

man i remember back in 2005 when i used to go with my uncle to tsukiji fish market it was so different then... prices were like half the amount and we would get a whole bunch of sashimi for like 10k yen... now its insane what kimura paid for that tuna its like he's speaking a different language or something 🤯 but i guess when you're the "tuna king" u gotta do what u gotta do right? anyway, it's still surreal to think that one piece of sushi can bring so much joy to people like minami and kiyoshi...

omg u guys i just found out that kiyoshi kimura is actually my uncle lol he went to high school with me 😂🤣 anyway i was there at the auction last week and let me tell u it was wild they had like 20-30 people bidding on that tuna and it got so crazy at one point 🤑 i swear my auntie who's a huge sushi fan was crying tears of joy when she found out kimura won lol now she's always asking me to take her to his restaurant 🤗 but for real though that bluefin tuna was TO DIE FOR 💀 500 yen per roll tho is insane!!!

🤯 I mean, 510 million yen for a tuna? That's insane! 🤯 I'm not surprised though, I've seen those auctions on YouTube and it's like a game show or something! 💥 The guy must be making bank off that tuna. And the customers are willing to pay top dollar for that bluefin too, 500 yen a roll is steep! 😱

Can you believe this guy is breaking records left and right? 510 million yen for one tuna is crazy! I mean, I'm all for people being passionate about their craft, but it's wild to see how much attention (and cash) goes into something as specific as bluefin tuna 🤑. And it's not just the price that's interesting – the fact that there's actually a "Tuna King" who's built a whole brand around this stuff is pretty fascinating. I guess when you're serving up the best sushi in Tokyo, someone's gotta put their money where their mouth is 😂

I'm like super stoked about this auction lol 🤣, but at the same time, I'm kinda thinking that 510 million yen is, like, way too much for a fish 🐟... I mean, it's still an amazing catch and all, but come on! It's just a tuna, right? 😂 But then again, if catching that tuna brings energy and vitality to people, who am I to judge? Maybe the buyer was, like, totally feeling it 💫. And for Kimura's team to expertly prepare it is just incredible... the dude's got skills 🎨. But seriously, have you seen the prices at these auctions lately? It's like they're not even trying to hide how expensive they are 💸.
