TV tonight: an intense new 999 series about knotty crime cases

New 999 Series Delves into Complex Crime Cases with No Easy Answers

Tonight on Channel 4, the 999 series returns with a new run of episodes that promises to be as intense and gripping as ever. The first episode, titled "What Happened Next," sets the tone for the rest of the series, showcasing two complex crime cases that will keep viewers guessing.

In Suffolk, a man is found stabbed to death outside his house, while in Hertfordshire, a car belonging to a woman accused of drug dealing is set on fire. At first glance, it seems like straightforward cases, but as the police investigation unfolds, things become increasingly complicated. Through a combination of footage and interviews with officers and victims, the show reveals details of stalking, lies, and a lead that takes us back to someone who was under a protection order.

Meanwhile, ITV1 is airing "Killer in the House: The Murders of Lesley Howell and Trevor Buchanan," a documentary that tells the shocking true story behind two murders that took place over three decades ago. For the first time, we hear from the Howell children, who grew up believing their mother had taken her own life but were recently told a very different truth.

Later in the evening, Channel 4's "24 Hours in Police Custody" takes us inside the investigation of Carson Grimes, one of the UK's worst serial paedophiles. After new accusations surfaced, officers launch a fresh inquiry and are inundated with stories from previous victims as well as a disturbing discovery that sheds new light on Grimes' past.

The night also sees the season finale of "Dark Winds," a Navajo cop drama set in the 1970s. The episode ends on a cliffhanger as Joe and Gordo's train station stakeout yields results, but not before they share a poignant moment together.

Other highlights include "Live at the Apollo" on BBC Two, featuring comedian Tom Davis hosting rising star Kae Kurd and Louise Young, and "Things You Should Have Done" on BBC Three, which returns with more laughs as Lucia Keskin's character navigates her way through life with the help of a dodgy therapist.

the real issue here is how our justice system handles cases like these ๐Ÿ˜ฌ it's all about details and who to trust. we need more transparency and accountability from law enforcement, especially when it comes to vulnerable victims of crimes ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ it's not just about solving the case, but also about supporting those affected by it. i wish they would explore this aspect more in these shows instead of just focusing on the crime itself ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm telling ya, this new 999 series is gonna be so good! They're tackling some really complex cases that'll keep you on the edge of your seat. I mean, who doesn't love a good mystery? ๐Ÿค” But what's crazy is how they're showing all these different angles and clues, making it feel like we're right there with the investigators trying to piece everything together.

And I'm loving the vibe from ITV1's documentary about those two murders in the 80s. Hearing from the victims' kids after all this time must be so emotional... ๐Ÿ˜” But what really gets me is how they're shedding new light on that serial paedophile, Carson Grimes. It's just so disturbing, but I'm also kinda fascinated by it? Like, how does someone become that bad? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Anyway, Channel 4's got some other great stuff lined up too...

omg i'm so down for this new 999 series its gonna be like watching a train wreck cant look away ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’€ season finale of Dark Winds is def gonna leave me needing more whats up with Carson Grimes tho serial pedophiles dont get the time in the sun they deserve ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm intrigued by this new 999 series, but I've gotta say, some of these cases sound super dark and messy ๐Ÿคฏ. Like, what's up with that guy in Hertfordshire? Car fire? That's a pretty intense way to handle the situation ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. And don't even get me started on Carson Grimes - serial paedophile? That's just sickening ๐Ÿ’”.

On a more positive note, I'm really curious about "Killer in the House" docu-series. Lesley Howell and Trevor Buchanan's story is so twisted and messed up ๐Ÿคช. It'll be interesting to hear from their kids and see how it all went down.

Still, I wish they'd focus on some lighter stuff for once... like that "Things You Should Have Done" comedy show ๐Ÿคฃ. Lucia Keskin is hilarious! Anyway, it's gonna be a long night of watching these intense cases ๐Ÿ˜ด

So another thrilling season of 999 where they get to dig up old skeletons and make us wonder what's really going on. Like, who doesn't love watching a murder mystery unfold with no clear ending? ๐Ÿ™„ It's not like we're all just invested in the case because it's our job or anything.

And yay for revisiting some old cases! You know, the ones that still have loose ends even after 30 years? I'm sure it's super reassuring to hear from the victims' families and get more details on how their lives were ruined by these people. ๐Ÿ’”

I mean, I guess "24 Hours in Police Custody" is a bit of a snooze-fest, but hey, if you're into that sorta thing... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm getting so tired of all these true crime shows ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, don't get me wrong, they're super interesting and all, but can we just have some light-hearted stuff for once? Like, I love a good comedy show or something ๐Ÿ˜‚. And what's with all the stabbing and fires on Channel 4 tonight? That doesn't sound like fun to watch at all ๐Ÿšซ. I'm gonna stick to my "Live at the Apollo" show later ๐Ÿ‘.

omg i just saw that 999 is back on and its gonna be so intense!! ๐Ÿคฏ ive heard good things about this season already but im excited to see how they're tackling those super complicated cases. like, no easy answers can only mean theyre digging deep into all the drama ๐Ÿ˜ฒ cant wait for the episodes to drop though iv had a bad habit of skipping shows at the last minute lol

Ugh, can we talk about how the schedule for tonight is just a mess? ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, I'm trying to relax after a long day and Channel 4 decides to bombard me with too many shows at once. First off, "999" is back on, but I don't even remember who the main character is supposed to be anymore ๐Ÿ™„. And then there's the drama with Carson Grimes, which sounds super intense, but isn't it a bit late in the season? Can't they just make an entire new episode for that one? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ And don't even get me started on the repeat episodes of "Dark Winds" - can't we have some new ones instead? I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in some kind of TV schedule loop ๐Ÿ”„. Anyway, on to more pleasant things... I guess the documentary about Lesley Howell's murder is kinda interesting ๐Ÿ‘€.

OMG u guys!! 999 series is coming back & it's gonna be SO intense!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ they got these 2 super complicated cases going on in Suffolk & Hertfordshire ๐Ÿคฏ & it's like, u think ur gettin it but NOPE! ๐Ÿ˜‚ then theres this docu on Lesley Howell & Trevor Buchanan murders which just blew my mind ๐Ÿ’ฅ cant believe the Howell kids finally spoke out about what really happened... & Carson Grimes serial killer doc is SO disturbing ๐Ÿšซ 24 Hours in Police Custody is always so good to watch too ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ dark winds finale tho? cliffhanger alert!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

๐Ÿšจ I'm so hyped for this new season of 999! Those crime cases sound super intense and complex - no easy answers here! ๐Ÿคฏ I love how they're diving into true stories, like those murders from years ago... it's crazy to hear the victims' children finally get to tell their side of the story. And that Carson Grimes case is giving me major chills ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. It's always fascinating (and a bit unsettling) to see how the police investigation unfolds. Can't wait to watch! ๐Ÿ‘

man i dont know how they do it, 3 decades old murder case still got new twists lol ๐Ÿคฏ like what kind of protection order would make someone think its okay to burn someone elses car? and now they're re-investigating some serial paedophile, that's just sick. can we talk about the victims tho? how many more people are out there living in fear because of these monsters? we need better support systems for them, not just media dramatization ๐Ÿค

omg u guys i just watched ep 1 of 999 series & its literally so intense!!! they're investigatin these two murders that seem simple but get super complicated lol i was on the edge of my seat w/ that one lead that takes u back to someone under protection order ๐Ÿคฏ i also loved how they shared some new info about carson grimes, serial paedophile - cant believe the stories from his victims ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

omg u guys i'm literally shaking right now watching this documentary about lesley howell & trevor buchanan murders its so creepy and disturbing... i mean who takes out their own mom like that? ๐Ÿคฏ anyway i was talking to my ex last week and he was saying how his cousin's friend knew one of the detectives on the case and apparently it was super hard for them to find evidence... meanwhile i'm just over here watching this show and feeling all the feels ๐Ÿ˜ญ ugh my anxiety is spiking just thinking about it ๐Ÿ’€

omg can't wait for this 999 series lol it's like they're always delving into those crazy complex crime cases that just leave you like "huh what just happened?" ๐Ÿคฏ i love how they get to dig deeper and uncover all the twists and turns, keeps me on the edge of my seat! also heard there's a docu on some murders from years ago and i'm low-key excited to hear the new revelations ๐Ÿ’€

๐Ÿค” Crime doesn't pay, but it sure keeps us on our toes! The 999 series never fails to keep me hooked, and these new episodes look like they're going to be some real page-turners ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I'm watching this new series 999 and it's making me think about how complex human nature is ๐Ÿค”... these crimes don't just happen out of thin air, there are usually a lot of people involved, or more importantly, a lot of secrets being kept ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ. And then you have the investigators trying to unravel all this, while also dealing with their own personal demons and emotions ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ. It's like, what even is right and wrong anymore? Is it just about following the law, or is there something more to it? The fact that new accusations are coming in on a serial paedophile case makes me wonder if justice is ever really served ๐Ÿ’”...

I'm telling ya, these true crime shows are like a train wreck that you can't look away from ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I mean, who needs easy answers when you got cases like this? It's like they say, just when you think you've figured it out, something new comes along and twists everything around again ๐Ÿ”„. And what's with these complex cases? Stalking, lies, protection orders... it's like they're trying to make the show even more intense than usual ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

I'm also kinda curious about that docu on ITV1 about those two murders from 30 years ago. I've heard of Lesley Howell before, but I never knew she had kids who were kept in the dark all these years ๐Ÿคฏ. And Carson Grimes... serial paedophile? That's just sickening ๐Ÿ˜ท.

But you know what they say, "you can't make this stuff up"... or can you? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm low-key so invested in 999 right now ๐Ÿคฏ. These new episodes are giving me LIFE, but also making me feel all sorts of emotions at once ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. The cases they're covering are so complex and dark, it's like they're trying to keep us guessing until the very end. And those victims' stories... ugh, my heart is aching for them ๐Ÿค•. I love how the show is bringing these unsolved crimes to light, even if there aren't easy answers. It's like, yeah, justice might not always be served, but at least we're having these conversations and trying to understand what went down ๐Ÿ’ก. Can't wait to see more!

ugh i dont know how much more of these true crime documentaries we can take ๐Ÿคฏ they always seem to be so intense and dramatic but honestly sometimes it feels like its just sensationalism at its finest. and dont even get me started on the serial killers stuff, its all so depressing ๐Ÿ’” but at the same time you cant help but be fascinated by their twisted psyches. i mean who needs a break from reality when you can watch someone's descent into madness play out on screen? ๐Ÿคช
