Ford Worker Suspended for Heckling Trump; UAW Backs Employee with $450,000 in GoFundMe Campaigns.
A Ford worker who heckled President Donald Trump during a plant tour in Dearborn has been suspended, but he's got the support of his union and hundreds of thousands of dollars from crowdfunding campaigns.
TJ Sabula, 40, was working at the automaker's F-150 plant when he shouted "pedophile protector" in reference to accusations that Trump's administration is covering up an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. In response, Trump gave Sabula a middle finger and mouthed "fuck you." The incident happened on Tuesday during Trump's visit.
The United Auto Workers (UAW) has condemned Trump's behavior and is backing Sabula. UAW Vice President Laura Dickerson said the union supports its member's right to speak out and will ensure he receives full protection under his contract, including safeguarding his job and rights as a union member.
Dickerson stated that workers should never be subjected to vulgar language or behavior by anyone, including the president of the United States. "He believes in freedom of speech, a principle we wholeheartedly embrace, and we stand with our membership in protecting their voice on the job," she said.
Sabula has been suspended after his outburst, but he now has hundreds of thousands of dollars from GoFundMe campaigns. The fundraisers are legitimate and have raised over $450,000 so far. U.S. Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Debbie Dingell also spoke out in support of Sabula.
Tlaib stated that Trump is indeed protecting pedophiles, calling for the release of Epstein files.
