the whole thing just stinks you'd think having ties to a convicted sex offender like Epstein would be a no-brainer to get out of, but I guess that's not how it goes down in politics sometimes... I mean, I'm not surprised Labour MPs called for McSweeney's resignation - those are some pretty serious allegations to ignore. And 7 months on the job and he's already getting a big exit package? that just doesn't sit right with me either... it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out, especially if it affects Starmer's chances at PM again...
I'm shocked that Starmer stuck with Mandelson despite all these questions. I get that Mandelson was a big deal in Labour history, but if someone's got ties to Epstein, it's a major red flag. And for it to come out now, 7 months into the job? It's just weird. I don't think this helps Starmer at all with his PM ambitions . They should've known better than to trust Mandelson on something like this...
I'm so done with these backroom deals! Like, what's up with mandelson getting a sweet exit package just cuz of his Epstein vibes? That's some shady stuff right there! And poor morgan McSweeney gets canned for trying to do the right thing... I mean, can't we all just have transparent gov'ts where everyone knows who's got whose back?
I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one ... like, I get why Mandelson's friends with Epstein, that's messed up enough, but I don't get how he thought it was a good idea to take an ambassador role in the US after that whole thing blew up. And now we're finding out he got a pretty sweet exit package from Starmer? That just doesn't sit right... like, what even is the protocol for that kind of thing? It's all so fishy at this point...
Come on... what was the gov thinking?! Appointing Peter Mandelson as ambassador and now his top aide quits over it ... I mean, I get it, Epstein was a dodgy guy, but still... seven months on the job and they're shelling out $52k to 74k for him to leave? That's just not right. And what about all the Labour MPs who called for McSweeney's head over this one? It just shows how deep this scandal runs. I'm not saying Starmer is off the hook or anything, but it's definitely a big blow to his chances of staying PM...
