Video 'Slender Man' attacker told officers to Google her name, police say

A Wisconsin woman arrested over a stabbing that authorities attributed to the popular internet urban legend "Slender Man" told police who asked for her identity to "just Google" it when she was taken into custody.

Morgan Geyser, 22, from Oshkosh, is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and other charges in connection with the attack on May 31 that left a teenage girl seriously injured. When responding officers questioned Geyser about her identity during the arrest on Sunday, she allegedly instructed them to look up her name online.

The bizarre request, which police say they have made before, highlights the increasingly complex and mysterious nature of cases involving online folklore and popular culture.

I'm not buying into this whole Slender Man thing. Like, yeah, it's a crazy story and all, but is it really responsible enough to affect someone's actions like that? I mean, Morgan Geyser is 22 and making life-altering decisions based on some internet myth? That just seems off to me πŸ€”.

And what's with the "just Google it" thing? Is she expecting us to excuse her behavior because of a Wikipedia entry or something? Newsflash: just 'cause something's online doesn't mean it's fact, you know?

I get that the internet can be weird and wild, but we gotta separate the fiction from reality here. We're not in some fictional horror movie where myths come to life; we're living in the real world 🌎.

Let's not jump to conclusions about Geyser's case just 'cause she was influenced by something online. There's more to this story than meets the eye, and I'm all for keeping an open mind... until more facts come out, anyway πŸ˜‰.

I'm telling you, this Slender Man thing is getting out of hand 🀯. I mean, come on, a woman gets arrested for stabbing someone because she's "inspired" by some made-up internet creep? It's not like it's a real person or anything. She needs to Google it, huh? Like that's gonna explain what she did πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. And another thing, the fact that she's 22 and thinks this is something she can use as an excuse... I just don't get it πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. This whole urban legend thing is getting all messed up in people's heads. It's not a game or a meme, it's real life πŸ’”. Anyway, I'm sure the whole "just Google it" thing will be a big part of her defense πŸ™„.

πŸ€” this whole Slender Man thing is wild but what's really going on here is that we gotta question why our kids are so obsessed with these urban legends πŸ“š it's like they're searching for answers in the wrong place, you know? maybe instead of looking up some creepy character online, they should be trying to figure out their own thoughts and feelings πŸ’

and another thing, what's with this "just Google it" attitude πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ? like, okay, sure, we can find all sorts of info on the web, but does that really help us understand ourselves or the world around us? sometimes I think we just need to slow down and look inward instead of looking outward for answers πŸ”

OMG, you guys, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this 😱 Morgan Geyser, 22, from Wisconsin, just arrested for stabbing a teenager and now she's getting charged with attempted murder 🀯... but what really caught my attention was when the cops asked her who she was and she went all "just Google it" lololol. I mean, can you imagine? πŸ˜‚ like, isn't that kinda cool that she knows this thing is even a thing online?

Anyway, back to stats. Did you know that Slender Man has been around since 2009 and has become one of the most iconic internet legends πŸ“Š According to Google Trends, the term "Slender Man" was searched over 100k times in 2022 alone πŸ’». That's some serious online presence.

And here are some more stats: πŸš€

* The Slender Man mythos has been involved in at least 5 reported crimes since its inception πŸ“Š
* 64% of respondents to a 2020 survey said they believed that "Slender Man" was real (despite being a total legend) πŸ‘»
* On Reddit, the subreddit dedicated to Slender Man has over 1.5 million subscribers πŸ”₯

Fascinating stuff, right? πŸ€”

omg what's with these ppl?! 🀯 Morgan Geyser is 22 yrs old & she's already stabbin someone cos of some creepy internet legend? like, what even is that? Slender Man or whatever... it's just a myth, right? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

anywayz, Geyser's all "just Google it" when cops asked her who she was. like, hello! You're in custody now, don't try to be all mysterious πŸ˜‚. it's not that hard, fam.

these cases are gettin' more & more wild. first, it's Slender Man, then what? The Pokémon murders or somethin'? 🀣 seriously though, how many of these urban legends are gonna turn into real-life drama?

Geyser's charges are pretty serious too - attempted murder & all that jazz... fingers crossed she gets the help she needs.

I'm seeing some crazy stuff like this pop up all the time... 🀯 The Slender Man mythos has been around for ages now, but it's wild how far it's infiltrated our daily lives. I mean, in 2020, there was that mass shooting thingy where 2 teenage girls stabbed each other over 15 times... and people said it was totally related to the Slender Man urban legend πŸ€”

Stats show us that since 2011, when Slender Man first started going viral, cases involving the myth have increased by like 3000% ! πŸ“ˆ And now we got this Wisconsin chick, Morgan Geyser, who allegedly stabbed a girl over the whole thing... it's just wild 🀯

Anyway, I don't know what's more disturbing - the fact that Slender Man has become a catalyst for real-life violence or how easily it spreads on the internet. It's like we're living in some kind of sci-fi movie 😱.

OMG u guys I'm literally shook rn 🀯 I just heard about this stabbing in WI and it's CRAZY 😱 a 22 yr old girl was arrested over some stupid urban legend Slender Man and she basically told the cops to Google it lol like idk what's more messed up the fact that someone did this or that she thinks online research will get her off πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I mean I know some ppl r really into that stuff but stabbing someone? 😑 like no just no. the internet can be so weird and influential and I'm not sure if it's always a good thing. I mean on one hand it can bring ppl together and spread awareness but on the other hand it can also inspire ppl to do stupid stuff. πŸ€”

omg I'm still trying to wrap my head around this 😱 Morgan Geyser is like 22 years old and already in so much trouble! I mean, stabbing someone just because of an urban legend? it's crazy πŸ’”. I think what's even more interesting (and a bit concerning?) is that she told the cops to Google her name online when they asked for ID 🀯. I've heard of people asking for Google searches before, but this is like, on steroids! It just goes to show how intertwined our lives are with the internet and pop culture these days πŸ’».

I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit surprised by the whole Slender Man thing πŸŽƒοΈ. Like, who knew it would lead to real-life drama? I guess you could say she got caught up in her own fantasy 😳. Anyway, hope the victim recovers soon and that justice is served βš–οΈ. It's just another wild chapter in our digital age πŸ“±πŸ‘»

omg what's going on with these ppl 🀯 like I know Slender Man is a legend but stabbing someone over it? that's just crazy! 😲 Morgan Geyser sounds super sketchy too, trying to deflect by telling cops to google her name... like what even is that? πŸ™„ and now she's charged with attempted murder and all this other stuff. seriously though, how do ppl get so consumed by these online legends? πŸ€” I mean I know some ppl might find it cool or whatever but come on, that's not something to go around stabbing people over... πŸ˜•

OMG u gotta wonder wut's goin on in this girl's mind 🀯 Morgan Geyser thought she was gonna get away wit' murder by talkin' about Slender Man? Like, doesn't she no he's just a creepy myth? What's her story? Was she tryin' 2 prove somethin'? And now we gotta Google her name online like some kinda case file πŸ“ I'm low-key impressed that the cops already knew this was gonna be a weird one πŸ˜‚ Guess that's what happens when u mess w/ internet urban legends...

omg can't even believe this! so like Geyser's response is literally the most weird thing i've ever heard... i mean i get that she might be trying to deflect or something but "just Google it"? like, what's next? asking you to look up your own crimes online? 🀯😲 police are already dealing with enough stuff without having to navigate some creepy internet legend! anyway, hope the injured girl recovers soon and Geyser gets the help she needs... this whole thing is just super messed up πŸ˜”πŸ’”

omg can't believe people still think slender man is real 🀣 I mean come on, a stabbing in the name of a creepypasta? it's just crazy how much influence these internet urban legends have over our minds. people need to wake up and realize it's all just made-up stories meant to scare kids into behaving. Geyser's not some innocent victim of her own delusions, she was fully aware of what she was doing πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ and I don't feel sorry for the girl she stabbed, maybe if she'd done her research (aka googled it) before attacking someone...

πŸ€” I mean, Slender Man is still out there in people's heads, right? Like, what even is that? Some kids just messing with each other's minds, or did someone actually get too deep into it? It's wild how this legend got so twisted and violent... and now a 22-yr-old girl is charged with a stabbing because of it. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I'm not saying she's innocent or anything, but like, what's the deal with these online urban legends? Are they some kind of dark mirror reflection of our own anxieties? Anyway, it just shows how complex and weird the internet can be sometimes... 😊

Dude, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole Slender Man thing 🀯. I mean, I remember reading about it back in '07 when my cousin brought the comic book to school... it was all about some creepy guy with no face, right? Anyway, fast forward to 2025 and you've got a girl stabbing someone because of this urban legend 😳. It's wild, man. The police are saying they've dealt with cases like this before, but still, it's just so... surreal. I keep thinking about the MySpace era and how we used to obsess over those creepy forum posts πŸ“±πŸ’». Does anyone else feel like we're stuck in some kind of internet time loop? πŸ”„
