Texas Attorney General Sues Tylenol Makers Over Autism Claims
The Texas Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against the makers of Tylenol, alleging that they misleadingly linked their pain reliever to an increased risk of autism. The claim comes after President Trump's earlier assertion in October last month that using Tylenol during pregnancy is linked to an increased risk of autism.
However, experts have disputed this claim, pointing out that there is limited evidence to support such a link. Trump's comments were made despite the lack of concrete scientific data suggesting a causal relationship between Tylenol use and autism.
The lawsuit seeks damages from Johnson & Johnson, the company behind Tylenol, over alleged false advertising claims. It also accuses them of violating state laws regarding deceptive business practices.
Johnson & Johnson has issued statements denying any wrongdoing, stating that they stand by their safety data and are committed to providing safe and effective products to consumers.
The lawsuit is one of several filed in recent months against companies accused of making unsubstantiated claims about the health risks associated with their products.
