VJ Edgecombe will play in the 2026 NBA Rising Stars Challenge; no other Sixers included in pool

Philadelphia 76ers Rookie VJ Edgecombe Gets Call-Up to NBA Rising Stars Challenge

In a significant nod to his rapid ascension with the Philadelphia 76ers, rookie guard VJ Edgecombe has been named to the 2026 NBA Rising Stars Challenge. As part of this prestigious event, Edgecombe will be joining an impressive group of 21 NBA rookies and sophomores, plus seven standout players from the G League.

Notably, however, no other members of the 76ers – including fellow rookies Jared McCain, Adem Bona, Justin Edwards, and Johni Broome – have been selected to participate. This means that Edgecombe will be the sole representative of Philadelphia in this high-profile event, allowing him to take a well-deserved break during the All-Star weekend.

A No. 3 overall pick in last year's NBA Draft, Edgecombe has quickly become an integral part of the Sixers' lineup, starting in all 41 of his appearances so far. His impressive performance has been instrumental in the team's turnaround, with Philadelphia already matching its win total from the previous season. As a valuable contributor to the team's resurgence, Edgecombe will undoubtedly be looking forward to his experience at the NBA Rising Stars Challenge.

🤔 VJ Edgecombe is gonna crush it at the NBA Rising Stars Challenge 🏀💥! He's been on fire with the 76ers and this call-up is a huge nod to his skills 💯. It's kinda weird that no other 76ers rookies got selected though 😐. Guess you could say Edgecombe is leading the team by example ⚡️. Can't wait to see him shine on the biggest stage 🌟!

VJ Edgecombe is on fire 🔥! I mean, who wouldn't want to see him shine on that stage? It's crazy how much he's brought to the 76ers already. 41 starts in just one season? That's insane 🤯. I'm loving how Philly is getting some recognition with this call-up too 🙌. But honestly, it'd be awesome if some of his teammates could join him... still rooting for them all! 💚

Edgecombe's selection is pretty cool, but kinda weird that no other 76ers rookies made it 🤔. I mean, he's been killing it all season and it's great for him to get some extra exposure. It's like, good on Philly for giving him a chance to shine, but a little frustrating for the rest of his teammates who are also doing their thing 🏀. Still, gotta give Edgecombe props - 3rd overall pick to make it to Rising Stars Challenge in just one season? that's some next-level talent right there 💥. Wonder what the other rookies' teams think about this... is it a snub or just part of the team's strategy? 🤷‍♂️

🤔 I'm kinda surprised that no other 76ers rookies made it, but VJ Edgecombe's been on fire lately! 😅 He's definitely deserving of a break during All-Star weekend, though - he's been carrying the team on his back and earning every single minute of playing time. The fact that they chose to give him a solo rep in this event is a testament to how quickly he's risen through the ranks. I'm curious to see how he'll hold up against some of the best young players in the league... 😏

I'm low-key bummed that VJ Edgecombe is gonna be the only 76er rep at the NBA Rising Stars Challenge 🤔👎 I mean, it's not like he's even a rookie anymore... 41 starts? That's some solid experience for a guy who's still on his first contract 💸. What about Jared McCain or Adem Bona? They're right there with Edgecombe in terms of potential and work ethic 🤷‍♂️. Don't get me wrong, I'm hyped for VJ, but I think the 76ers should be giving some other youngins a chance to shine too 💖. Maybe this is just an opportunity for him to step up and take the spotlight? ⚡
