'We thought the Rwanda scheme was the worst of it': Enver Solomon on leading – and leaving – the Refugee Council

I'm totally with David Solomon on this one 🤝. The way politicians talk about refugees is so inflammatory and xenophobic, it's no wonder people are still scared of them. It's like they think we're all just "others" who don't belong here 😩. I mean, come on, refugees are people too! They've got families, friends, hopes and dreams just like the rest of us.

And let's be real, the Rwanda policy is a disaster waiting to happen 🚨. I'm talking unnecessary costs, endless bureaucracy... it's just going to cause so much trauma for those poor kids born here to refugee parents 🤕. We need more empathy and understanding in our politics, not less 😔.

I've got so much respect for David Solomon, he's been fighting the good fight for years and still has the passion and energy to keep going 💪. He's proof that you can make a difference even when it feels like the whole system is against you 🙏.

🙄 I mean, what's new? Another charity sector manager jumping ship to save their soul 🕊️. David Solomon's concerns about government rhetoric are right up there with "oh no, please don't let them deport us!" 🚫. Like we haven't heard it all before. Can't these people just pick a side already? The Rwanda policy is just another example of politicians trying to fix the problem they created by not doing their job in the first place... btw, have you seen the state of the National Health Service lately? Now that's a real crisis 🤦‍♀️.

And Solomon's all about dignity and respect for refugees. How original 🙄. Can't we just listen to people's stories without trying to fit them into some neat box? It's like, I get it, they're scared and traumatized... but sometimes you just have to let people process their emotions in peace 💔.

I'm not saying Solomon doesn't care; he clearly does 🤗. But we need more than just feel-good rhetoric on this issue. We need actual solutions that don't require a team of lawyers to figure out how not to mess things up 😅. Anyway, good luck to him at his new job... I'm sure it'll be a real thrill-ride 💼.
